The Arma 2 + Operation AH thread of 'let's try this again'
brkl replied to Lu 's topic in Multiplayer Networking
It could sense it coming. Actually I'm not sure how often I'll be able to play. My summer job starts in a week's time and it's nights, and I'll be working weekends often. I'll play when I get the chance, and I can get Arrowhead when I need to. -
does Endless Space deserve to get slated by its community?
brkl replied to greydan's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Man am I crap at these games (Thumb here, not one of you TMA guys ). I really like what this game is doing, though. I used to play Master of Orion, but lately when I've tried 4x games they just went over my head. Way too complicated systems not presented well. This one doesn't seem so impenetrable. It's still Alpha, so I guess it's forgivable it doesn't always communicate things like what certain techs give you and what tech you need to get for instance in order to travel longer distances. The game could use some more species and more graphical representations to make them feel different. Right now only ships look different, but since cities and such aren't represented, the species don't really feel that different. But I suppose that's expensive for an indie. It's got a really nice atmosphere to it, which is important to me at least. -
The Cave: Ron Gilbert's Double Fine Game (A Tim Schafer Production) (Not Double Fine Adventure)
brkl replied to Nappi's topic in Video Gaming
That's kind of the opposite of how Schafer presented the project, though. It's all about openness and letting the backers voice their opinion. So I guess you really backed the wrong project if that's what you want :/ -
I thought The Avengers was really forgettable. Some nice action and everything with Hulk was excellent, but just a mess of a plot. My girlfriend asked me how the film was the next day, and it took me a few seconds to remember I had seen a film.

I don't mean that it's brown, I mean that it's just India with English.
-
That doesn't even seem related to the first game.
-
I think Nappi was being clever

Atebit you should adjust your avatar to reflect your current hairstyle.

See here for accent changes that occurred after the American War of Independence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phonological_history_of_English#After_American.E2.80.93British_split.2C_up_to_the_20th_century So this is before post-vocalic /r/ disappeared in some accents (such as the stereotypical fancy pants English accent), before H-dropping in England, before whine and wine became homophones and before this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flapping Meaning that /t/ sounds were stronger in American English. But the accents had diverged already. Simulating period accents is probably a bit much for a game like this

What's Hakeem's role in this?

What happened at the end of the very latest episode didn't strike me as credible, otherwise I haven't had problems with Season 2. We'll see how they handle it.

Is there any project you might want to do? Make a game What I found is that it doesn't help (didn't for me) trying to convince yourself that you're over her, and try to shut out every thought of her. I found that I had strange moods after I was supposedly "over it", and later understood it was just me feeling shitty about the breakup again. Keeping yourself busy is certainly a good idea. Eventually the pain will wear out and when you do get reminded of her, it won't hurt. But it might take a long time.

Surprisingly many Marc-Andres involved with Far Cry 2. Good luck to him!

I have no idea, that's far above my abilities. My father is the one who knows how to build these, he did some of the more difficult bits and told me how to do the rest. We took the plywood from an old couch, so we didn't have to bend it ourselves. Next we'll make one for him, although with a simpler construction. That thing doesn't have a single right angle (even where it should), so it was pretty difficult to work with. Being such a nerd and an academic, it felt really good to actually make something with my hands.

I just watched a few minutes of Forbrydelsen, and I think I made the right call in watching the American version. Mostly it's that I can't really read into how people deliver their lines the same way in the Danish version, but the actors also feel a bit bland (perhaps too familiar to me) compared to the American version. I was surprised though that at least some of the musical cues I really like come from the original.
-
Maybe I'll start watching it because I can't wait for the next episode
-
I demand more reverence for this awesome thing I made with plywood from an old couch with tooth and claw as my only tools! OK, a part of that sentence isn't true. Hermie, a few years ago I was in a situation that was very vaguely similar. I can't offer any advice, but you have my sympathy and best wishes.

It really looks like whoever the guy doing Larry is he's not talking out of his ass and dropping names to prop up the Larry production.
-
Oh crap, I've caught up with The Killing and now I'll have to wait :( I haven't noticed it being mentioned here, has anybody seen it? It's based on a Danish series, apparently, and it's terrific. One of those rare cases of procedurals that focus on one case only, not a new one every episode.

Nope, but at least I can be safe in the knowledge that she's not back to playing music through her laptop's speakers or some crappy plastic boxes

I made this for my girlfriend. Our relationship turned into a long distance one for the next six months or so.
-
The Thumbs games are good that way because I don't think people ever got truly frustrated.

I should probably read that again, although there's a lack of androids and/or reality altering drugs..
