I suppose that's true. It's likely I've just forgotten the particulars of how the stories developed. But Snow Crash is the only one where for me it felt to me while I was reading it like it kind of fell apart.
  2. Good to know the atmosphere hasn't changed. Scratch, from what I've seen your ping has always been atrocious in our games, so I wouldn't be surprised if Skype pushed it over the edge. Anyway, next time will be terrific because I'll be around to save you from all the bad guys before you see them.
  3. Anathem

It's pretty uneven and the plot gets all weird towards the end. At the beginning it seems to posit itself somewhat as a satire of cyberpunk, but that's lost at some point. I thought it was a fun read, and had some clever insights about how internet culture was going to look like, but it's definitely my least favourite of Stephenson's books.

The Diamond Age is sweet, but I suppose it's too genre (very different from Snow Crash, though). I enjoyed REAMDE a lot, but it's more of a thriller and doesn't quite have the depth of Stephenson's other work. The Baroque Cycle is too long to recommend and was too much of a historical adventure tale for me anyway. I also liked Anathem, but maybe that's still too sci-fi for your taste, which would leave Cryptonomicon, which is terrific. But if I was recommending Stephenson for anyone who hadn't forbidden genre, I'd recommend The Diamond Age. At least you'd lose less time if you didn't like it.
  5. Goddammit I'd love to play tomorrow if I could :/ It's not fair! If someone wants to play Day Z with me tomorrow afternoon (or your afterten probably), that would be lovely.

    You two are just adorable
  7. Well, I have the game now. Now we can never stop playing to justify that 15€.
  8. It's only bad if people think making a game takes like a few weeks. Which apparently they do.
  9. Oh goddammit I totally missed that Amazon sale and now they won't sell you a copy if you begged them. I'll just get one off Steam.
  10. G4ming Keyb0rdz

Oh, save it for the confession! I'm joking though, I wouldn't need one. None of the American players can even find the 'sit' key in Arma 2. What use is such a keyboard?
  11. G4ming Keyb0rdz

    Racist.
  12. LOST

What I remember thinking is that they can't possibly be heading for something this trite for several episodes, and then my fears coming true.

How are those Clas Ohlson keyboards? I'm interested, we have one in town even though we are not in Sweden. I remember probably every school I went to had those exact same Keytronic keyboards as Nappi and Kolzig mentioned. FINLAND. Oh, and nobody answered toblix's question about the Nordic layout. Apart from having the extra characters we need, it's terrible. Keys have been changed around for no reason, and you can tell programming languages and OSs like Linux were designed with regular keyboards in mind. I'd be interested in getting a mechanical keyboard, but probably not a stupid looking one from Razer. And I probably could do with one that wasn't mechanic but had keys that felt very good to type with. As long as it didn't look gamey or wavey. My current one is and it was passable until I spilled red wine on it. Having media keys is nice, the other extras just take up space. Having a rest for your wrist is important, but the keyboard doesn't have to look like you left it out in the sun and it melted. Maybe that looks more natural in other countries, but it looks stupid in Finland because that doesn't happen.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

    Why doesn't it have dubstep?
  15. I can't play this Sunday, but I'll definitely play next Sunday!

  17. Oh man, this is fancy
  18. If you've been playing Arma 2 Free so far, here's a chance to get Combined Operations for half its usual price: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003UV8RRE/ Also, Arrowhead for ten dollah: http://www.amazon.com/ArmA-2-Operation-Arrowhead-Download/dp/B003UNKYL4/ref=dsvbl_item_1

I've been waiting for our current cats to learn that. I've had two before them and they figured it out. I think these ones are in all likeliness a bit dumb.
  20. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

Yeah, I think the controls are fine as long as you don't have to act fast. Unfortunately, the games do have parts where you do :/
  21. Life

I've only seen one Maine Coon, but it was pretty awesome. They are HUGE. When I next decide to get a cat (our cats are young, so that's going to take a while) I'll probably get a Norwegian Forest Cat because they are about as big.
  22. Honestly, I'd be surprised if most Kickstarter games cost a lot more than the pre-order price. And most indie games drop off in price very quickly.
  23. Life

Having pets get sick or injured is the worst. I hope he gets better!
  24. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

I think he only looks more credible for the part now!
