Awesome TED Talks (and similar enlightening lectures)

The weirdest thing is how normal it looks. You would expect something stranger. -
You're maybe a bootlegger. I think.

Your error was reading stuff.

I have nothing to say about mead, though I'd love to try some if I had the opportunity. But I have this theory related to home-made alcohol. We don't have any traditional aged hard liquor such as whisky or brandy in Finland, but we've sure made a whole lot of moonshine over the years. Whisky and brandy producers like to talk a lot about how the process has to be carefully controlled etc. but I think a lot of that is just branding. I bet if you made some moonshine using good ingredients, maybe distilled it again like whisky if that's possible and just stuck it in a wooden barrel somewhere for 10 years, it'd taste pretty interesting. I know my grandpa has the equipment, but I'm not crazy enough to try it yet. Also, it's illegal.

Probably The Walking Dead for taking gaming to a new direction. There have been several games that rehash previous terrific games, such as Dishonored, but few that brought a lot of new thinking into the field.

What I need from GTA is actually good gameplay. GTAIV relied a lot on it's rubbish shooter mechanics in missions with rubbish AI and boring surroundings. That's what made me burn out on it and stop playing.

Yeah, all the videos look weird to me. Nothing moves like it has mass and I don't really get any sense of scale.

I'd be surprised if it didn't have any of that Three Stooges physical humour that Raimi is so fond of.

Lost a cat last night. Damn thing ate a bunch of thread a couple of days ago (I didn't realize immediately). We were fortunate enough to find a vet on a Father's Day Sunday, and he operated and took out the thread. He seemed pretty confident, but in the end the cat never really woke up properly from the operation and died around 4am. Feels pretty bad. The cat has a brother who's now at my parents, who have a dog, so he doesn't get lonely. He was always the difficult one, needed a lot of action to stop boredom, so I don't feel like I can keep him alone at my place.

It's a while since I saw it, so I would be willing to concede the first one isn't silly on purpose. But it's still silly.

What. Jesus fucking Christ.

Eh. The best thing about Evil Dead is that it's a bit silly. That trailer at least is too po-faced.

I presumed TP had already upgraded the ship. You need to do that. But ME3 could actually be more interesting if the last mission didn't go perfectly.

Question about a film discussed in "The Idle Thumbs Podcast"

I love Buckaroo Banzai, but it's simply badly paced and suffes for it a lot. It's a great shame. -
Tough it out. Maybe tell her talking about flings isn't cool because you used to date. That she did have a fling could mean she's getting over you and you probably should work at getting over her. Feeling jealous would be a very bad reason to restart that relationship and drop the other. At least from my experience that's just your dick being angry at you.

Ahah, that's some pitch. The yoga bit is excellent.

It's a satire of bad, unimaginative humour.

Oooh, I was browsing on my mobile earlier, so I didn't realize TP linked to The Day Today. That and Brass Eye are absolutely genius, but perhaps a bit much to ask for background chatter in a game. It's rare enough in television -- I don't know of anything as good after Brass Eye ended.

jeremywc, are you actually syntheticgerbil's sister?

I really loved the Lazlow stuff back in GTA3 and San Andreas when I actually was juvenile

That's rough. -
Yeah, it is now. You missed a gif about a dog, too bad

If you've done all the loyalty quests, I don't think the assorted side-quests are necessary.
