  1. 360 in HD

Well, first you compare to non-widescreen resolutions and then jump to a widescreen resolution. 1920x1200 is not a conventional resolution people are familiar with -- 1600x1200 is. You don't see how that's confusing?
  2. 360 in HD

    1920 * 1080 = 2 073 600 1920 * 1200 would be 2 304 000 and 1600 * 1200 is 1 920 000, hence closer. 1280 * 720 = 921 600 1024 * 768 is only 786 432. I was just trying to point out you make the difference between 1080p and 720p seem bigger than it is because you're overestimating how sharp 1080p is and underestimating how sharp 720p is.
  3. 360 in HD

That's a bit of a misrepresentation. 720p is sharper than that and 1080p is much closer to 1600x1200.

I went for a 550€ Mirai 32". Basically the cheapest you can get at that size. It still looks pretty good, although I could certainly use better black levels. I felt that it was smarter to buy a cheap one now and a better one later (as in a couple of years later) when I actually have a HD disc (either) player.
  5. I'm putting my ethics on you, ruthlessly!

I hate Spectators too. It's either Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist, pick a side.

Eh, artefacts on fast camera pans? Sounds like an encoding problem and not one to do with the actual TV.
  7. 360 in HD

HDMI has sound, Component does not. I think older 360s did not have a HDMI port at all.
  8. Random internet stupidity

    Yes, probably.
  9. Random internet stupidity

They haven't factored in the possibility that what may look like laughter might actually be a grimace of desperation.
  10. Soul Calibur officially jumps the shark

    I have that shirt.
  11. Editorial: Dealing with Death

I never really noticed a Bioshock backlash, except for Duncan.
  12. Videogaiden 3

The new episode is brilliant. I think it's the best one yet. It's called 'Lust' and it's mostly about kids games...
  13. So, I'm right? It's not about whether something is clearly CGI or not. Any CGI doesn't make me feel uncomfortable, this does. It's not really even about graphics. Even if we had a 100% accurate graphical representation that could speak a line or two convincingly, faulty AI could make us feel like we're talking to a person with only half a mind or flashes of sanity amidst machine-like behaviour.
  14. You're saying uncanny valley is about CGI looking like CGI?
  15. The problem was never whether something can be distinguished as CG or not, was it? I thought the problem was people acting like some kind of glitchy replicants.
  16. Think about this: there's a whole bunch of dwarves in important roles in the Hobbit. Consider how dwarves turned out in the LotR movies
  17. Editorial: Dealing with Death

I almost quoted that, but didn't because I have too much class for that.
  18. Editorial: Dealing with Death

I agree with toblix here. Killing minor characters works in Doom 3 because it's such a straight shooter. In HL2, though, it's preferable not to let players shoot people accidentally. They'd (at least I'd) just get frustrated and load the game. The player is actually involved in the story, and so wants to hear what everyone has to say. If we wanted to include all the kill scenarios, we would have to revert the complexity of the rest of the game to the level of Doom, where everyone else but the player character is completely inconsequential.
  19. Editorial: Dealing with Death

Well, I guess if they'd kept HL2 as simple as HL1 they could've given you the opportunity to kill those people all over again. I can't wait to see if Duncan will continue to write an entire trilogy of Bioshock hate.
  20. A $1,500 keyboard....

Yeah, typing is really going to fuck up your fingers in the future.
  21. A $1,500 keyboard....

Okay. Damn, I hate being wrong. It's the fault of those bastards at Lebedev.
  22. A $1,500 keyboard....

I'm sure that was the case as well with the still unreleased Halloween clothes-pegs dated to be released on 27.10.2007.
  23. Need for Burnout: Paradise Lost

Takedown was 3. You couldn't crash opponents' cars in 2. I haven't played that one so I can't say if it's better than 3, but Revenge was inferior to 3.
  24. A $1,500 keyboard....

Notice that all of the coming products linked here should've been released already, but haven't been?
  25. He's 50 in the book, but for Hobbits that's the point where they're considered adults as far as I remember.
