He liked the game though, for the shootin'. It's a good game for bloody murder.

I imported my ME2 guy and fiddled with the save to make him an Infiltrator. Works fine that way, though you need to be careful to get just the correct amount of skill points. If that's what you want. That save will be waiting for me when I want to play it again as a goody two-shoes.

The RPS hands-on was positive: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/02/04/on-rails-hands-on-with-metro-2033/

Yup. You can easily change it with a save game editor, though, which is what I'm going to do.
-
Nope, you can't change the class of your character if you import an ME2 character from a previous playthrough.
-
Huh, I must have missed that. My brother complained about the same thing.

I wish I could start a new game with my leveled up character and change his class. I can change how he looks, so why not class? The people who liked Mako should try this game: http://mooses.nl/nice/relatedprojects/nivplus/latest/release/nivplus-r2_1.rar Use Dosbox. I used to love that. No combat, only exploration of billions of worlds. It's aged a whole lot, but still kind of pretty occasionally. EDIT: Nevermind, it doesn't work on Dosbox or 64-bit windows. I'm sure it works on something.

I didn't fully realize how shit Mako was until I went back to ME1. I'm so very glad they took that out. Every minute they would have had to spend on getting it right (and that would have taken a whole lot of man hours) would have had to be taken out of some other feature. And you'd probably be complaining about how shit that other feature is now. The scanning was frustrating, yes. Could have been easily fixed with a ship upgrade that gave you some idea of concentrations just by looking at the planet. I agree about the clips, to an extent. It was frustrating, but I think the point was that you were supposed to use more than one weapon. My team in ME1 were armed with one good weapon and the rest were what you started out with. Still, it wasn't a perfect solution. Maybe the heat clips should've dissipated heat over time automatically. My problem was that since my powers didn't hurt people with shields, barriers or armor, by the time they were weak enough to hurl a power at them, they'd be as good as dead anyway. And Vanguards were supposed to be super powerful at close range -- more like dead meat. Shockwave was really nice though.

Finished it today, 36 hours. Fantastic experience. I went in after going back to ME1 to finish the game with my space asshole. I didn't think I was going to be able to play this game, so I didn't follow any of the pre-release hype. Reading some of the reactions here, I'm glad I didn't. It looks like some of you had your experience spoiled by marketing a bit Man, I'm so glad I didn't read this thread. I'm pretty bewildered by some of the criticisms here and especially what some of you would have liked to keep from ME1. From having just finished ME1, every change I came across was for the better. There were some areas that could have used a tune up, but not because they were done better in ME1 (nothing was). Also, people talk about changes in style or direction? Totally consistent in my mind. My biggest complaint is that every woman looks like a barbie doll. Goddammit, can't you even make one mercenary chick on Omega be a bit butch. I guess plastic surgery is damned cheap in the future. Also, everyone wants to get in my pants (except Mordin). My character is an ugly fucker and looks really creepy when he smiles, which is rarely. The only actually fitting romantic option was Jack, which I fucked up, though I enjoyed her screaming at me every time I tried to talk after that At first I was annoyed at the tits and ass, eventually almost furious at it. It's just way too much.

Oh, that's great. Will have to do that at some point. I played SS1 for a bit but then stopped. How long is it to play through?
-
It is good. I can't read this thread.

I use my PS3 to watch Giant Bomb quick looks.

I haven't read this thread at all, but I just bought this on Direct2Drive for 32£. I actually thought they wouldn't let me buy it on the UK site, but no problems. I probably shouldn't have bought it either, since I've been spending more than I've been making. I was planning to pilfer it and buy it when it's a bit cheaper, but warezing is just too annoying to deal with these days. I haven't warezed a game since... maybe the first Mass Effect which I bought later. So here's hoping it's good.

That and Tekken where you use the d-pad. It's a crappy controller.
-
Yeah, I got past it after I bought a pad.

I didn't have any issues until Meat Circus. Then I had lots.

Is there some kind of bargain thread feud going on?

Like the rest of my alcohol-induced hallucinations. So pretty much like the movie.

Dwarf Fortress- Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the rum.

Dwarf Fortress isn't a roguelike! -
Oh, definitely. The dialogue was mostly terrific and Bogart can deliver those lines like no one else. It breaks down with the female characters, and even if you get past the misogynism, the female characters break the illusion of this being a real place. Instead it's a place where beautiful book store employees and taxi drivers (never seen a beautiful taxi driver in a movie before) are dying to bang weasely detectives they've known for less than three minutes. And they're damn obvious about it too.

I saw The Big Sleep. I wasn't so taken with it, really, probably because of the high expectations I had going in after Kroms' praise. It's a clever detective movie pretty much like The Maltese Falcon, but it's no Casablanca. And I can't believe you complained about Ilsa and then praised The Big Sleep considering there isn't a single woman in the movie who doesn't start spouting porn movie dialogue as soon as Bogart enters the room.

I've never gotten a bluescreen on Windows 7, and if any system should it's mine. So there's your cue, somethings off.

I agree with castorp here, it's a terrific score and seemed a perfect fit to me.
