Metropolis is kind of clumsy from today's perspective in the same way games released now will look after the Citizen Kane of Games is discovered. M is still pure gold, you don't get very many pretentiousness points from watching it.

Using special moves speaks to the gamer in all of us.

I haven't seen it yet, but I am so very glad it's over. Toblix, you should watch Stalker and Solaris by Tarkovsky. Hell, actually I now remember mentioning Solaris before, and (possibly) you insisting on spelling in Solyaris... So I guess you might have seen it. Beautiful long takes, in any case. There's this bit in Stalker with a short shower of rain... Damn, I guess those movies are unlikely to ever get proper Bluray releases

Me too... I'd rather I didn't even know about this!

That's how you get friends. At least so Dragon Age taught me.

That guy used to be in good movies, right?
-
Wallace & Gromit does that certainly. Sam & Max too, at least the newest series. That feature should be in every adventure game.

Oh shit, I guess I missed that bit of the post. That's scary stuff.

BUY ME THE PS3 VERSION TOBLIX

This might sound condescending, sorry if it does. If you plan on being okay with her being religious, don't think of it as a crutch she needs. Just accept it. If she wasn't religious or lost her faith, she could be a completely different person. I'm only saying this because I had to figure out my own stance in a similar situation.

I don't understand how people get their panties in a bunch if a huge open-world game has a few bugs. It comes with the territory.

The Xbox people seem to have an odd idea about what is "strongly sexual". But whatever works for them, I guess...

Oh, I thought Zombie Cow would mean you were involved too. Too bad!

MI and MI2 need hint systems now because the only reason people were able to play them back in the day was that they knew how the genre worked, and knew they had to use goddamn crazy problem solving methods to get ahead. People aren't more stupid now, they simply try to solve problems like they solve problems in the real world, that is, not at all like in an adventure game. Adventure games demand you to pick up everything, not because you have a use for any particular item, but because you know there will be a problem later on that requires one particular item for it's arbitrary singular solution. In the real world, any given problem always has many solutions, and objects tend to have many uses. When you encounter a problem, you look for solutions afterwards, and everybody has different strategies for solving problems they encounter. Adventure game logic is not real world logic, and the strategies that work in adventure games are not strategies that work in the real world. So unless your players know to "read" the game and work out the inner logic, and know the adventure game problem solving method (which is in no way natural for most people), they will have enormous problems progressing in the game. So, yes, adventure games need to be played "properly", but they all presume their players know how to do that already. They don't have tutorials. How would they sound anyway? "See that used toothpick? Pick it up. You'll need it later, because it's the only object in the whole world that is able to pop a balloon, and you will need to pop a balloon." People aren't dumber now for not understanding to use a monkey for a wrench. You use a wrench for that. Get one at the hardware store.

Indeed! I'm a walking billboard.

Actually they managed to put it together yesterday already. Since then it seems I managed to ruin the mobo somehow while installing pci cards from my old 'puter. There's a first. Man, computers.

No goddamn g-man is coming into my house.

Okay, cheers, let's hope it works out. I'll be getting the new, BattleThumbs enabled computer next week. Guh, I've totally lost my patience with bureaucracy lately. I hope I don't have to deal with some annoying extra bullshit.

THREADJACK How does one transfer a Windows license to another computer? That should be possible as long as it's not an OEM license, right?
-
That's that then. Glad to have that out my hands. Don't know if I'm happy with it or not. I DON'T EVEN CARE ANYMORE. I think I'll go buy a computer tomorrow.
-
Hah. Well, you say that now... Depends what they think of it, I'm not posting the thing if I get 1 out of 5

That's not even my master's thesis yet. I had some feature creep on my candidate's thesis :x

I think the voice actors definitely make the best of their dialogue. I doubt they had proper direction, and occasionally the dialogue just breaks down and fails to communicate any meaning. It's pretty difficult to act out something like that...

Oh, man, the game just gets better and more absurd towards the end. Atrocious game design decisions, but damn it makes a good Endurance Run.
