It's beautiful...

Do you have a link to that guy's blog that is archiving those old games? Sounds really interesting.
Here it is! http://www.stanford.edu/group/htgg/cgi-bin/drupal/?q=blog/21

Yea it would be nice, for sure. I noticed when I search for the level it doesn't show up, but if you search for "KaboomzZz" my halo level shows up (has a picture of a warthog), You can get to my levels through that if needed....
Anyway, work tomorrow, if I find my camera I'll try to get a video up.
Goodluck to everyone else in the contest.
Holy crap. Consider me amazed.

You could put it that way. I would phrase it more like "Steve broke my chair."So I broke your chair. So goddamn what. It was a table anyway. It made for good radio.
I'll give you money for it later

I completed the demo mission now and I'm still kind of ambivalent about it. The whole level was practically a tutorial -- the game told me everything I needed to do. I sure hope this was meant as a tutorial and not all levels are like this. But on the whole it does seem a notch or two down from the quality of the previous games. The whole demo level definitely is a tutorial-- in fact, it's the tutorial level from the full game (which is sort of amazing, considering how much work was obviously put into it.)
That said, the rest of the levels in the full game are completely different from the tutorial (which makes it a bad choice for a demo...) As far as I've heard, Blood Money is actually the most open-ended of the series. Other points: the stealth/disguise system has been smoothed out from the previous games, which is nice. 47 sneaks more quickly and disguises are more effective. All the levels take place in populated civilian locales (as opposed to the military installations from Hitman 2 for instance.) 47's abilities have been expanded greatly. See: taking human shields; using melee attacks to knock out enemies; THROWING shit (knives, mines, claw hammers, distractions such as coins); being able to carry anything in that case of his (check it out in the demo-- you can hide the shotgun and the mine in the sniper case ) Plus the graphics are way nicer.. and have you seen the crowd scenes from the full game? Have you SEEN them?? They updated the engine to allow for 3000 realtime characters to populate a level. 47 wading through a crowd, fading into the mob to evade his pursuers... the videos I've seen are amazing.
Oh yeah, and the story of the full game-- in each mission, 47 is tasked with taking out his target, while also being hunted by other hitmen from an eccentric rival agency! I'm a sucker for outlandish assassins, but the hunter/hunted thing itself is really cool.
I'm super stoked on the game.. the demo is meant to show off all the mechanics from the game in a relatively controlled environment. It's linear, but you can ignore most of the tutorial prompts if you want. I've been having a blast with it. I loved the first game, and the second and third not so much... I'm really hoping that Blood Money will finally be a real return to form.

Whoah, there's a link to our Façade thread in there. In fact they use Duncan's transcript to make a point. That I didn't know.Wow that is awesome Duncan, high five
-
they've got time to tighten up the system.. but maybe considering their overall lower financial investment, they can't afford the infrastructure to support an Xbox Live-like matching service.
-
jesus that one's just frightening
-
They have not announced it yet
I ended up third place in the public voting. But the outcome of the contest is decided half by the public vote and half by official judgement of the game developers... so it's still up in the air!
Hopefully the winners will be announced early next week.

For the first time ever I heard something genuinely funny from Sam & Max, or rather, something I didn't see coming a mile away or thought was predictable in terms of dialogue. I think it's in good hands with TellTale, because it seems to come out really sharp and clever. The trailer was a lot smarter than the old Lucasarts' one.I am left completely aghast at how someone can say so many completely wrong things in just three sentences.

"[Note: A representative told us that the F.E.A.R. Extraction Point expansion will likely make it into the Xbox 360 game.]"
Perhaps the instant action mode will make its way into the PC version of the Extraction Point expansion as well?
-
I will have a Wii for the interface alone, and the awesome games that will undoubtedly follow.
I may be forced to buy a PS3 if Metal Gear Solid 4 and Assassin's Creed are both exclusives. I just won't be able to pass them up.
I'm not sure why I would want a 360. I don't like Halo.
-
I have no idea if that's the same footage or not because 1up doesn't work for me. Also, I just read on this site that Spore won't be coming out till 2007.
Wow, that video is coooool. Still looks super promising!

Haha, those guys don't deserve a chance to defend themselves. That's exactly how they treat guests on their own show.
-
That would be cool. I bought the original trilogy on VHS because I didn't want to see greedo shoot first, etc.
But I won't rebuy it on dvd now.

I'm actually not sure why or how I have multiple profiles anyhow. It's because you can sign into FilePlanet with your login from a range of sites such as 3dgamers, gamespy, etc.
btw the voting's up til May 8, so I'll hopefully have an update then!
-
For some reason I 'have multiple profiles associated with this account'. 5 to be exact. You are now back in the lead sir.
I appreciate the sentiment sir! But I just want to make sure any voting stays legit... I don't know what the reaction will be when the admins see my map get five votes from your multiple profiles all back to back... I just don't want to risk disqualification, you know. I'm not just picking on Nick, this is more a general note along the lines of "please nobody create multiple accounts just to vote" or anything like that. Let's have a clean fight, people! Thanks again to everyone who's voted.
If you want to check out the map without having to register for fileplanet, it's mirrored here as well: http://www.vgpro.com/file/12263_residential_evil.zip.html

Oh man, is he totally dying out there or is the audio quality just bad? It sounds like some people aren't too amused at Colbert's lighthearted jabs!
