  1. Suspect Advice from Suspect Characters

Ah hell, this thread took a bad turn and has gone to hell. I hope she doesn't read some of the middle parts of it and gets detered by the ugly conversation topic. Especially the part about rating her picture and his. I guess this is what she gets from posting on a gaming forum. Especially one that almost called itself Angry Fist. Or Gameslol.
  2. Suspect Advice from Suspect Characters

Now what will pictures have to do with anything? This isn't some circus or something. Hehe, what else does Spaff do than make fake cute clothes for his WoW characters? Do dish.
  3. Guy gamers with girlfriends

Hey, I'm a girl too, but I hope I can help put this whole problem in perspective. This guy sounds like an addict - and talking would be the first step. But if he can't look past his gaming addiction, you have to make a choice. Dump the guy, or stand next to him. However, from what you've explained, he clearly is a selfish idiot - he doesn't quite appreciate the effort you're trying to share in his interests. And he won't do the same for you. He might, but so far, utter failure. You're a girl, a gamer girl. There's fifty bazillion guys out there dreaming for a girl like you. Basically, if you drop him, life is not as lonely as you'd think. And I'm positive you will find someone who appreciates you for you and enjoys being with you. Like the other things the guys have said, gaming is a part of him, and unless he makes a willing effort to include you more into his life, nothing is going to change. You can always see if he would notice if you were gone for say like a week - see how bad his gaming addiction is. If he doesn't notice that you're gone, you know the answer.
  4. Some Koreans would kill you for saying that. They're a downright proud and nationalistic lot. Like the whole Ono speed skating incident - they hold grudges.
  5. The other guy was Chinese.
  6. The other day I watched international version of "the Professional" and I was blown away by the differences in the US version versus the International version. Basically, they added 20 minutes of footage to the movie, gave the characters more complexity and less innocence. Matilda, our 12 year old protagonist, instead of being seen as a semi-Lolita victim, comes off being a lot less innocent and a lot more sexualized in the International version. I guess America was not ready for the Lolita complex or the startling frankness of a 12 yr old character. And the characters were a little more fleshed out. But with the added footage, it was much better. It made me curse American filmmaking and our tendencies for only the happy endings and simple stories. So, my question is for you guys is, do you know any other really good International versions of films that I should watch instead of American ones. Thanks a bunch!
  7. Anyhow, I was at a panel that had Walter Koenig and J M S, and JMS told us that someone from DS9 nodded to B5 for allowing for a series long story arc. (Long story short, I do not usually go to these conventions - this one I got roped into helping out a group I'm associated with do a SciFi Fantasy Tsunami Fundraiser. Hence I saw JMS ) Back in the day, TV execs were not convinced that a space opera would hold continue to attract viewers to the show. A lot of these shows are bound by Hollywood and what they think people will watch. B5 was campy at times, and the acting, and monologues were over the top, but no one could deny the complexity of the characters.
  8. Hey! No making of SeaQuest, even though I partially watched it because I had the biggest crush on Jonathan Brandis. I loved Lucas Wolenczak. And yes, I know about Jonathan's untimely death. When all the other girls my time had crushes on boy bands and popstars, I had a crush on a cute, sci fi genius. Figures. Not all you guys have to have your "hot cylons", us girls can have our dashing geniuses.
  9. Movies - International versions

Okay, got it. So whatever I saw in TV was the international version, the only version that I knew about. And the other day, I saw the rereleased director's cut.
  10. Oh, a lot of the acting is on the subpar side, but it's really the story. As for the special effects, they were very good for their time. And the story, it seriously takes a good 4 or 5 seasons to come into fruition.
  11. Dukes of Hazzard

    18% approval rating, enough said.
  12. DS9 may have been developed a year before Babylon 5, but when it first started, it was very episodic. Later on, the Dominion Party story arc started, but that was well into the series. Babylon 5 started immediately with its main story arc, influencing DS9 to do the same. I heard somewhere that either one of the actors or even the creator nodded to B5 for allowing for a several season story arc and actually being able to keep viewers watching the show.
  13. I am weak

So it's hair gel eh? I've heard of this crazy concoction called "Hair Glue" - is it liek that?
  14. Actually, DS9 copied Babylon 5, the original Sci Fi / Fantasy series that had a multi-season long storyline. I'm sorry, I'm not following the Hot Dog callsign - did I miss something in the series? I know Ron Moore worked originally for Star Trek and one of his biggest qualms about the series is that their supplies are unlimited because of their "replicators". I like his more realistic approach where everything is limited. Including water. I mean, hell! We have an episode on their search for supplies , showing how tenuous of a hold they have on survival. And he has no qualms about killing off characters which makes things edgy.
  15. Movies - International versions

In the American version of "the Professional" the following scenes were cut out. 1. When Leon and Matilda go to a really nice restaurant and drink champagne 2. I think when Leon and Matilda go sleep in the same bed 3. Some scenes when Matilda tells Leon that she loves him in full detail - really laying into the Lolita complex and Leon actually discussing his love. 4. The one that really got me, is Matilda accompanying Leon on his hits for training. In the US version, they show her shooting the president with a paintball rifle, but that's the full extent of her training. It's more than 3 minutes of what I saw. More like extra 20 minutes.
  16. Who loves Katamari? We do.

And what do you do about the plastic covering? Do you just insert the globe picture into the plastic?
  17. Movies - International versions

I'm not sure if I have any inclination to watch "Eyes Wide Shut". Somehow, I never thought of it being a really cool film. As for American audiences and our simplistic minds that can't handle certain subjects or sad endings, grrr. It reminds me in AI, where at the end, it should have ended on a sad, but contemplative note. Instead, we got this 1 minute lame happy ending sequence randomly inserted in. The ending not only detracted from the entire movie's mood, but you knew it was put in there because the American public couldn't handle a sad ending.
  18. I am weak

See, that's what I was originally asking about. Okay, so she was a salesperson, makes sense now. Yeah, booth babes are horrible and they disturb me. They're counterproductive to getting more women into the gaming industry (I know how much you guys want more gaming girls). And hell, they're just insulting to the female race. A lot these booth babes clearly do not want to be there, and by the 3rd day of E3, you can see the irritation written across their faces.
  19. I am weak

I've been to E3 three times. But I also happen to be a girl.
  20. I am weak

I don't understand, how does the girl being really hot make you buy more products? Unless she went, "you know, you should really buy this instead" *flutters eyelashes* I'm confused.
  21. Who loves Katamari? We do.

Holy Crap! We should have an Idlethumbs contest to see who can do the best US Katamari box cover! And it's because we all love Katamari.
  22. Coolest 80ies TV series moment?

That is true. Duct Tape rules all.
  23. Coolest 80ies TV series moment?

How about He-Man and She-Ra? I never watched the A-team myself, but I do have a vivid memory of watching a man transform himself into the behemoth called He-Man. "By the Power of Grayskull! I have the Power!"
  24. Vote for me!

    It's an awesome shirt.
  25. :fries:

I'm surprised no one has added Bill Gates from his Teen Beat days to the smiley list.
