  1. Movie/TV recommendations

I agree with Vimes, I was quite disappointed with HMC and felt that the press were just jumping on the bandwagon of loving Miyazaki oh so late. I blame it on the fact that it wasn't his own story, but an adaptation of a book by Diane SomethingWelsh. The ending was very much "ooh here's all the resolutions to every problem in about 6 seconds". My feelings about it may have been skewed a little by the fact I had to watch the English Dub, which was atrocious except for Billy Crystal as the flame. The main young girl was an emotionless husk and painful to watch and Howl himself (christian bale) was terribly hammy and overdone.
  2. Picross DS!

Also what you have quoted there has incorrect pronunciation for one of them anyway. It's shi, which sounds like the japanese word for death, so is an unlucky number. The French also have two ways of saying 4, although one is just an abbreviation of the other... also if you can't remember 2 things, I think you'll have trouble in anything you do Oh and finally, the numbers in picross will undoubtedly be written in Kanji, not hiragana.
  3. Well you can roll up guys sitting on benches..... so there's a connection at least
  4. Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

You have to complete the single player in Smooth Moves to unlock the multiplayer mode. However it is all single controller multiplayer, which I think is a huge mistake and a great oversight. edit: that's a slight lie, there are some games where one player uses the remote and the other uses the nunchuk, which are really fun, but my point still stands! Everyone should be blowing up the main balloon! (play the game to understand)
  5. Weird things

I crack my knuckles in a very user-friendly way, but I've never seen anyone else able to do it. I make my hands into a claw and all the knuckles crack, that is all. The sound has been described as both being like beetles and being like teeth rolled across a tiled floor.

consensi are airborne now? We're Doomed! Also yeah I heard it was utterly shit. P.S. if anyone's going to get all grammar nazi on me about my plural up there, know this: I am well aware it is wrong, but I prefer it
  7. Hurray for me

Well done. What exactly do you do?
  8. Nothing to do with moderator guidelines, I just thought I'd give you a break as you were upset about the previous swathe of renaming. (Of course, I only instigated the renaming) If you used this title because you wanted it to be moderated, then that changes everything (note: I still hate these thread titles)
  9. T is clearly short for Transyl, a classic boy's name.
  10. Damn you toblix, no-one can top a hitler broadcast. Anyway, Awesome news indeed, congratulations to all the Vania family! (hmm that sounded a little too close to Sylvanian Families.... erk flashback to horrible repetitive adverts on TV!)
  11. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Yep it's the home button, then the bottom of the screen, it adjusts the volume level for all remotes though I seem to recall.
  12. I made a judgement call based on your general attitude, demeanor, style of writing and basically what you say..... Was I wrong?
  13. Hey, I agree with you 100% Majora's Mask is superb and I think far superior to OoT, but I am pretty certain that if toblix is unable to play OoT beyond the starting zone, he won't get into MM.
  14. You'll wanna skip Majora's Mask on the N64 (the next game) as it has the same visual style, which is now quite ugly (and obviously too much of a barrier for some). Go straight to the gorgeous Wind Waker on the Gamecube, which has the flaw of the sailing later on, but otherwise is stellar (if you like zelda at all hehe )
  15. Heh, I wasn't comparing with Prime, I was talking strictly 2D metroids. Besides I'd probably consider Fusion the best in the series were it not for the guide telling me what to do. Not going to find anything when exploring in Zelda? Are we playing the same games? There's nary an area without things to find.... (I mainly said that because of the start of the sentence, I like the way it sounds) Although it's often not story related it's always useful, and zelda's hardly about the story.
  16. Spaff your opinion of Ocarina of Time is invalid since you refuse to play it based on the ugly visuals. There's nothing wrong with refusing to play a game because you can't stand the look of it mind, you just can't really call it shit.... As for loonyboi (and it seems Rusalka), the problem you have with the Zelda games seems to me to be down to your lack of desire to explore without so much guidance. I believe you said the same of the Metroid franchise and that you only liked Metroid Fusion (was that you or am I thinking of someone else?). If that was you then that demonstrates that clearly as it's the only one where you are guided by the hand through the game, which weakened it a little for me... The games are very well designed for what they set out to do, which is reward trying different things and letting you figure stuff out for yourself, you don't like that type of gameplay, fine, but they are hardly shit games. P.S. Yeah Okami is awesome, but it doesn't exceed TP in EVERY way, good god I wish the mumbling speech crap was done away with.
  17. Well, continuing this silly entirely spoiler conversation:
  18. Link's Awakening is superb, but I played them in order as they were released and my favourite is Lin to the Past. Link to the Past was the originator of the gameplay formula that all subsequent zeldas used, sure a very small amount of the groundwork was done in Zelda 1, but LttP really kicked the whole thing off. Also I agree with you Miffy, Wind Waker wins out of the 3D zeldas. As to the Ganon thing, sure if you abstract the stories they are the same, Link vs Ganon to save Zelda, but all the periphery characters and the surroundings vary greatly (see Midna as a genius addition, and the boat was a character that made a big difference) and Zelda's role in the story has been quite different each time, so they do change it up somewhat. A Spoiler about the ending of Twilight Princess Follows.
  19. Remo Extremo™ VS Our House...

Alex has Vans now. He can't seem to get them to be as extreme as Remo, but what do you expect?
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I should have mentioned this AGES ago, but have been selfish. Everyone should watch Dexter. It has the most original premise for a series in years, and is brilliantly dark. Michael C Hall of 6 Feet Under fame stars, and is superb, I consider it mandatory viewing (unless you don't like blood ;; ). Also another unique concept starring a 6 Feet Under alumnus was The Lost Room with Peter Krause. A bizarre and very creative 3 episode mini-series made by Sci-Fi, hopefully piloting a fully fledged TV series ¬¬
  21. Mwahaha, my evil plan has come to fruition! now no more voting or you'll ruin it ¬¬
  22. PS3 actually costing LESS than a Xbox 360

I think it's extremely naive to say the PS3's online network is going to be almost exactly the same as XBL......
  23. 2 reasons to despair

I believe this generation of consoles do consume a good deal more power than a TV in standby as they (I think they all do) remain connected to the internet and wireless is quite power hungry, also they have their receivers always looking out for the "Switch On" command from wireless controllers.
  24. Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

I'm a 24 year old and I love it It's geard towards those who have no qualms with letting go and having fun regardless of how silly they may look
