I dislike these: I think I used the fart one once, I didn't like the affect. And the sad one is just pointless when we got this beautiful sad face; Now that's melancholy. I think we need a new cheers smiley, one that can be both cheers and Mario It's from the I Am 8-bit exhibit by Bob Fob. I just want a Mario smiley, and this one has Donkey Kong too! Or a new kiss smiley Now that's an aww kiss. Or a good "and for something completely different" Or this It could be something, not sure what, but something. I think they could work. All they need is a proper down sizing and bam! Thumbs they shall be.

I finally had enough time to read Jake's essay, and the posts. As far as indie goes, I never found the "scene" itself attractive. I like obscured musicians and I know many, but I don't like them because they're obscured, I like them because they're good, I listened to many terrible indie bands and disliked them as much as I would dislike something that's popular and that I don't like. The Beatles are my favorite group, and it doesn't get more mainstream than The Beatles, they were just that amazing that both cult and mainstream could appreciate them equally. And I also love Bob Dylan's work in the 60's and half of the 70's because which is what he's mainly known for. I talk about Nick Drake, and The Velvet Underground a lot, they weren't exactly indie (definitely not Drake) but they were very obscured in their time and still kinda are, but I mention them because I love their work and it saddens me to know that they didn't receive what they deserved (especially Drake). But I do get upset at MTV for just selling products (or "artists" as they like to be called) to people and play what's popular instead of trying to contribute to music like they did at the early 90's with great ideas like the unplugged shows (or the fact that they nearly ruined TV for me with all those reality shows that other's imitated). And I do get upset if I can't find a certain record in a shop because it's unknown while they have colossal stacks of Eminem and things that are popular in their shelves. Where's the diveristy? I stop blabbing about my knowledge of music and games when I was 14, it just seemed very dumb after that. I usually only talk about it if someone asks me. If something is good by your taste then it's good, it shouldn't have anything to do with it being unknown or known, that's just dumb.

I honestly think that's a different type of twist. So I think it's different. Rushmore, and The Royal Tennenbaums are much better examples than The Life Aquatic. I also like them a lot more. You know what's going on, and it has no real secrets for the end (especially the over the top ones in Metal Gear or the majority of story telling). That's why I think it's different. And that's just what I want in stories, I'm sick of clich'es. And what also made those films fantastic for me is their outstanding atmosphere. It's very unique and maybe one percent of games and movies had a similar feel.

Isn't that Vice City version 0.5? Isn't that Warrior Within version 1.2?

I need help getting a Psi card in the Kid's Cabin. There's one high up next to the cave entrance (on the right when you face the cliff), now I see the tight rope on that tall tree but I can't manage to jump high enough with levitation to get on it. I've been trying for hours in various ways and I still can't manage to get high enough. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. That's all I need, after that I can continue to the Meat Circus having done everything prior to it. -
I'm ambivalent towards Metal Gear. On one hand; It has some of the finest animation I've seen, I like the boss fights, think the game itself is very well done, and I have fun with it even though I despise stelth games, I can even play it for over three hours straight which is a rarity for me these days. On the other; I dislike the story and stories that are about terrorists, loath many of the characters and find them laughable (Volgan, that evil bisexual guy in MGS3 was just beyond bad in my opinion), think much of the writing is incrediblely chessy (like a B-action movie), think they just over do it with everything that's cut-scene related. And the only army related story I ever really liked is Apocalypse Now, so a military setting is a bit of a turn off for me. I even feel a little embarrassed playing it in public because I find it very dumb at times, I had the same feeling when I played Final Fantasy X-2 except worse. I don't really care for "shocking" plot twists in anything. I know something is coming and I don't care for them giving me clues and teasing me about what it is, I'm a cynical person (I think that has something to do with it). I like stories that just continue and are calm and pretty. Wes Anderson is by far my favorite movie director because he does just that, no "shocking" plot twists, the characters are comical and don't take themselves too seriously, and it just continues and tells a very simple story. Now that's what I want stories in games to be, and not more military "I'm your brother, but also your antagonist" type of story. I like Metal Gear, I played all the Solid ones and enjoyed them, but I just don't find it that amazing. My brother loves it though.

I played both the PS2 and PC version, but I have yet to beat the PS2 built so I can't say how the Meat Circus is. (I'm trying to get to rank 100 before finishing, I'm currently at 96. It shall be done later today.) Well the PS2 versions graphics (you said you don't care, but still) aren't as bad as many people say. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of anti-alising. The framerate is also choppy (especially in Mila's Dance Party), but I grew up with the N64 so I hardly notice. Now here's a real problem: sound bugs exist throughout the PS2 version. There's one specific bug that makes the voice acting disappear until you restart the game, the music also jams when you save 'til it's done saving and then goes to normal (it's not serious, but it bothers me). It's not that serious, but it's definitely something you should know. I also have a problem seeing BobCat's logo after the DF one. It just bothers me, it's like a reminder that you're playing a port (though I understand them needing recognition for porting it). The controlls are great, the FMVs are in the same quality as the rest, and it plays great. So it's still a phenomenal game. So it's a good version, I prefer it over the PC just because of right stick camera control. It's also more convenient for me because I don't have to handle my brother's tyranny over our PC (damn you World of Warcraft!). So it's good. EDIT: And the load times are longer than the other versions by three seconds or so.

But... but Christopher Walken... Christopher Walken...

My shoes make squeaky sounds when I walk with them and it's driving me crazy, by the way. That's what you get for buying shoes that don't require shoe-laces.

They had a good run. -
http://www.weddingcrashersmovie.com/crashthistrailer/index.htm?id=34718 Wait for it. This movie has Christopher Walken and a Wilson brother. So I'm sold.

Well I never thought I'll start a birthday thread, but he made me laugh about a thousand times through the months I've been an Idle Thumbs member, so he's worth more than one birthday thread (not that I'm gonna start another one). Snubs... HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Also, happy birthday to ChooseStevo! Best not to ignore him. :nerd: Now go play Rock Paper Saddam! Or have a bizzare party.

Oh, come on. Spizzaz is hardcore in so many ways, just look at his Xbox. If that's not hardcore, I don't know what is. It's also a certain definition of hell. He's like satan. And I really don't know why I posted it, I guess it works well with Saddam.

Okaayyy... So none of them liked Paper Mario 2? (Which also should have been nominated and win the art direction category.) I hate these pointless award shows, they always go with the mainstream crowd.

Somewhat of a 404 page. And no, it's not from a porn site... yes.

Andy Dick only laugh on News Radio. This is funny on my opinion.

First time I saw a baby panda I couldn't believe that little pink squisy thing will one day grow to be such a cute and rather large bear. Horray for pandas around the world!

I'm starting to think that there's a Game Gear theft conspiracy involving underground gnomes and rapacious pixies! How can nearly all of us not know the whereabouts of our Game Gear? Something's not kosher, I'll tell you that.

I despise Tamagotchi with every bone and muscle in my body. But this version looks alright, very cute. Can't they just name it something else? It'll be far better that way if you ask me.

Early or mid october, I believe. It's gonna cost around 30 dollars at most american retailers. IGN has impressions from the final japanese built. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/632/632010p1.html It looks great, but the music doesn't sound as good as the first in my opinion.

It can't be worse than those "choose love or money" reality shows. Now that's disgusting.
