  3. Happy Birthday Mr. T

That video was freaking awesome, man. It made me love Mr. T even more. Happy birthday, Mr. T! .

  5. New Zelda details

Poor Beddle... poor Beddle. Anyway, because I want this thread to be about Zelda and not synthetacialdjhsjks (have a pronounceable name, well you!) here's some more details (stolen from IGN). -Worldwide release at the end of 2005 (Zelda tends to get delayed, so let's hope it'll make the deadline). -Wolf-Link's side-kick is called Midna. -There are two realms in the game: Light Realm, Twilight Realm (but we already knew that). -Link turn to a wolf only in the Twilight Realm, and it has nothing to do with a full moon. -Link can interact with various animals (again, we knew). -There are probably numerous ways of traveling, and not just by walking, horse riding, and teleportation by a musical instrument. -It's gonna be harder than The Wind Waker. Anyway, Just read this Eiji Aonuma interview: http://cube.ign.com/articles/616/616559p1.html
  6. No place for Hideo?

Metal Gear Solid is ridiculously overrated with shit writing that sound like it was farted from hollywood, and a dull story that just drags on with eight hours of cut-scenes. I said he was talented because him and his team really achieve some great things, what they need to do is improve the writing and characters (some of the characters in the last games were just awful) I just can't take it seriously when I hear B-movie dialogue. MGS is a fun series, it's a stupid series at times, but it's also fun. I always get pissed off when people call him a genius, he didn't do anything that special and unique to get people to call him a genius, he's talented, that's it.
  7. Sid Mier's Pirates (Yes, I know it's 'old')

I don't play games for the challenge, I play them to have fun, visit world, meet frivolous characters, listen to great music, and just get into the atmosphere of them. So I don't care if a game is hard or not, I do care if you're against a giant beast and it takes two hits to beat it, that's just sad, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
  8. New Zelda details

Well... that was unexpected. Back to Zelda, those demos made me want the game more than ever before (though, my hype wasn't all that high before). The Forest Dungeon looked amazing and the in-game animation was just some of the best I've seen. I was also surprised with some of the changes in the menu, interface, and battle system (the parry system looks quite nice and simple). "We want to surpass Ocarina of Time." Big talk from Aonuma, but every developer can surpass what they created and with Nintendo it's probably more than just hyping it.
  9. No place for Hideo?

It was a nice teaser. I want Kojima to start making something other than Metal Gear Solid, I'm not that big of a fan but the guy is talented and he has an excellent team. So enough with Metal Gear Solid, make something new.
  10. New Zelda details

Artstyle: I don't think that it looks all that much like anime, looks more like well... Zelda, similar to The Adventures of Link. I still kinda miss The Wind Waker style, but I don't want that style to stay in future Zelda's because it'll lose its charm and the series needs to change on each Triforce related story. The absence of voice acting: I enjoy reading, that way I'm not costantly complaining about inapt voices and umatched lip-sync (Final Fantasy X comes to mind). Dialogue: Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker had some of the best dialogue I've ever read, so I don't understand the complaint (if there was one). Anime: No sir, I don't like it much (except for Ghibli, but I always thought it was more of an alternative style of anime) Beddle: Shame on anyone who says anything bad about Beddle, he's twice the merchant you'll ever be! IGN posted tons of new movies, TONS! http://media.cube.ign.com/media/572/572738/vids_1.html
  11. Nintendo Revolution

The fish people are called Zora's. I'm not saying that Link turning into a werewolf is a bad thing or a mistake, I'm saying that it doesn't really appeal to me. It's an old concept that's been done in too many games (Blood Omen, some other games that don't come to mind, but exist). I want Twilight Princess more than anything else, the game looks stunning but the dark dysphoric theme doesn't appeal to me and doesn't make me think that The Wind Waker was a mistake and not a masterpiece (some people actually think that after they saw Twilight Princess in last year's E3). For an entire year Nintendo said they'll unveil the Revolution (not just the system but also the games), for the past three years they been saying they'll show Super Mario 128, is it really so hard just to show a thirty second movie of it? I've been waiting the entire year to see the Revolution and Revolution's games and the outcome is "We're not showing them because our competitors will steal the idea", fine, I understand that Nintendo is a company that keeps secrets (and they should because their ideas did get stolen before, many times over) but them hyping it for the entire year and in the end it's a virtual no show, as a Nintendo fan I'm insulted, and as a person who spend so much if not most of his hard earned after school job money on Nintendo I'm insulted. Enough with them taunting us by saying that "E3 is going to be all about the Revolution" them showing a prototype of the console without any software doesn't cut it. Nintendo disappointed me in this E3, and for me, Nintendo is E3.
  12. Jobs suck...

Don't worry, netmonkey, you're a great individual that will one day fulfil his potential in entertainment. Full power for me. I always thought about working in the gaming industry, but like you I hate every developer that speaks an understandable language except Double Fine (there were many a few years ago, but now they're all the same). I will hopefully make a living one day as a writer/illustrator but my drawing skill is still rusty (mainly in portraits, cartoons are a go) and my writing is just plain incoherent talk about society (I hate it so!).
  13. just because

They ruined the box by adding a review score on the front. Why didn't anyone tell me about that?
  14. New Zelda details

New trailer: http://www.zelda.com/universe/game/legendzelda/trailer.jsp Screenshots: http://www.zelda.com/universe/game/legendzelda/shots.jsp Artwork (for us people who like having illustrations on our computers): http://www.zelda.com/universe/game/legendzelda/artwork.jsp "Twilight Princess", not quite as catchy as "Emotions of Link In Those Darker Days of Hyrule With Nothing To Show For It Except The Master Sword And Maybe A Kiss From Zelda" but whatever. What's the deal with the alien on Werewolf Link's back? A special new friend? or Ganondorf!
  15. Nintendo Revolution

They barely unveiled anything. Give a screenshot of Super Mario 128, a short look at the new Smash Brothers, a brand new game, a left handed sketch of the controller, ANYTHING! I want more! The Xbox 360 and PS3 may have been no more than over priced pieces of nothing, but at least they showed some software! The conference was nothing more than Nintendo showing off sales and Zelda: Twilight Princess (Link's a werewolf now ), the GameCube line-up was nearly nothing (give me something new and give Mario a rest, he's like a two dollar ho now), Game Boy Micro is one of the most redundant things Nintendo has ever done, thankfully, the DS line-up was good (new Mario and Luigi ). I'm so damn disappointed, I'm gonna go into a dark corner, get into a fetus position and cry like a baby that just drank Tabasco. You can view the conference here: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/17/news_6125078.html?gcst=2stream_nintendo_e305_pressconf1.asx&tag=gs_hp_topslot_click
  16. Nintendo Revolution

And all the happy smiles dance.
  17. Who is best at starting a campfire?

Alex is the god of hell fire, have you forgotten this?: http://forums.idlethumbs.net/showthread.php?t=2531, he could just bring that guy along, and the world will burst into a dancing hell of flames.
  18. Ps3

I just lost nearly all respect for you, Kingzjester. I respected you! You broke my heart! Now for the topic, I'm surprised they even changed a controller, and I can't believe I'm saying this; I miss the old one. I pretty much have now the same feeling I had when they unveiled the PS2; it's all boomerangs and shiny software, but what has it done for me lately?
  19. Xbox's J Allard revealed

I foresee it coming, Kingzjester... I foresee it coming.
  20. Xbox's J Allard revealed

Mr.T? Of course! Mr.T was in The A Team, The A Team's leader was Hannibal who was played by George Peppard who died in 1994, 1994 was my seventh year, Revolver was the seventh Beatles album, The Beatles were influenced by Bob Dylan, Bob Dylan sang protest songs, Protest was an obscured movie from 1967, 1967 was the year The Velvet Underground released their first album with Nico who was introduced to the group by Andy Warhol, Andy Warhol died in 1987 from complications following surgery, Bill Clinton had heart surgery, heart is the engine of the human body, The Little Engine That Could is one of the most famous children books, children like candy, Candy is usually a name of a trophy wife, marriage sometimes equals divorce, divorce equals money, money equals power, power is by definition: "The ability or capacity to perform or act effectively", effectively has three E's, E3! It all makes sense now! E3! E3 will have J. Allard presenting the Xbox 360 (I think), he had a makeover for the show, Ricki Lake has a show that gives people makeovers. He got a makeover in the Ricki Lake show under the name Gralious, which is his brother's name (look for my previous post), brothers are usually male, the majority of gamers are male, games are fun! THAT'S IT!!! He did it for our amusment! What a great guy, too bad he's a Microsoft employee. I rest my case.

The name Dingo Chavez: Not my real name, thought it was funny at first, think it's racist now.
  22. Headset dead

Just ask a close (but not too close) relative or friend to shout Sound FX, music, and player instructions, etc. in your ear. It may not be as la-di-dah as a headset, but it'll save you some money and it may just bring you closer to that person than ever before.
  23. Write some reviews in 15 words or less

The Beatle (white album cover) by The Beatles (1968): The most beautifully diversed album ever made. Revolver by The Beatles (1966): A landmark, that's still considered to be one of the best. Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles (1967): Makes life better. Rubber Soul by The Beatles (1965): Can you feel the beautiful vocal harmony? Abbey Road by The Beatles (1969): The last recorded album from the best band that the world has ever seen and heard (more like a fact than a review). Pink Moon by Nick Drake (1972): There was never such a simple and stunning album. Bryter Layter by Nick Drake (1970): The man was a musical genius. The Velvet Underground and Nico (self titled album) (1967): The most underappreciated album of its time if not of all time, also one of the best. White Light/White Heat by The Velvet Underground (1967): Minimum budget, maximum execution. The Velvet Underground (self titled) (1969): Cale-less but still outstanding. Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan (1966): If you didn't like it, then you must be stoned. Just Beyond The River by James Yorkston & The Athletes (2004): There's nothing quite like it (except for their first album). The Doors (self titled) (1967): One of the greatest debut albums from one of the greatest American bands. The Piper At The Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd (1967): Psychedelic never sounded this good.
  24. PxG, a gaming show that's so... painfull!

I understand that it's independent and not a la-di-dah TV show, but I still don't get it. What the hell are they saying? And why did I see Dracula talking about what I think is video games? It's definitely better than Gamespot Live or what ever it was called, though.
  25. The XBOX 360 revelation thingy

I agree, Oblivion is a great looking game, but it's not exclusive to Xbox 360. Another point that I forgot to mention yesterday is about the generation after the next. Graphics are going to be more about what the developers can do in the next generation and not what the console can do. So what about the next next generation of consoles? Are they also going to be about the graphics improving, if so; what's the point? The performance of the next consoles is going to be photo realistic and much more expensive to produce. What about outstanding companies like Double Fine that doesn't have that many resources and only want to make games because they want to make stunning games (not just graphically, but mainly in the concept)? Are they going to get into financial trouble because gamers won't buy their dated looking games? I hate the direction this industy is going, companies like Microsoft tell the mainstream crowd what's cool and the brainless crowd seems to agree with then. What happened to individual thinking and creativity? What happened to making games because you want to make something fun and unique? I know that it still exists in companies like Nintendo, Double Fine, Clover Studios (that Okami developer), and various other companies, but the lack of originality is growing and companies that are trying to make something fun and creative see their sales declining. In this year's GDC all I heard from developers is how terrible the publishers behave and how frustrating and agonizing game developing is these days. Now let's say ten years from now this same pattern continues, we'll have one big problem in the toilet.
