  1. Gears of War Hype?

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter has the same cover mechanism. Gears has a few more options when you're in cover, but the core of it is exactly the same. Same thing with the A-button being used for all sorts of context sensitive commands. GRAW has that squad mate revive thing as well. Gears is MUCH more forgiving, though. You can take a lot of damage (and heal fully by staying out of fire, ala Call of Duty 2), and your squadmates can't really die permanently. The gameplay is hardly original. But it is fun, and that's what counts.
  2. Great Gaming Quotes

I wil kill you... With death! Anachronox.
  3. Murdoch buys IGN

News Corp has bough IGN Entertainment for $650 million !! http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=11382 Discuss!
  4. lik-sang 'jumble sale' old ninty merch.

No. Japanese NTSC. And I think that should work fine with US TV sets. Dunno about the games, though. http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=183&products_id=7538
  5. Who thinks these game packs don't mix well?

The last game pack I recall seeing was a Virgin White Label release of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 in the same box. Which I promptly bought.
  6. Favorite developer logo intro seq.

I actually really liked the old "E! A! SPORTS! It's in the game!"-intro used in the mid 90s, before EA went evil and corrupted the games industry beyond repair.
  7. Psychonauts PC Demo out

The demo is on www.fileshack.com as well. That site also requires registration, though.
  8. Clever web-based game

This rocks! I just got to level 6.
  9. Games everyone likes (but really suck)

I thought Halo was a complete snorefest. Had it been released in 2000, it would have been all kinds of impressive, but for a 2003 game it was completely underwhelming. Also, Need for Speed Underground. I think it speaks volumes about the handling of a racing game, arguably it's most important feature, when the most popular game mode is the one that involves going in a straight line. What a piece of crap.
  10. Heh, I have that for PC Tempest is a true classic. Anyone heard of Uplink? It's a highly atmospheric sci-fi hacker "simulation", where you play as a mercenary stealing or destroying data from private and goverment systems all over the world, all from the comfort of your own home. I got hooked on it after ten minutes with the demo.
