I've been holding off until I feel more able to kill Olmec consistently. Which is possibly ridiculous; I've done the key run and apart from hell I only have a few character unlocks left.
-
But he's such a good dancer Rodi.

The entire line of Marvel movies have been planned for quite a long time, it's not like they finished the Avengers then grabbed a comic from a shelf: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cinematic_Universe#Films Even disregarding Hollywood's ability to milk things, and taking just the number of Avengers characters who don't have a bunch of their own films, they're nowhere near running out of IP. I'm really glad they're doing more offbeat stuff like Ant Man.

One bike is dismantled and some of the bits on another. I forgot the unicycle because I left it at Nottinghack. That makes 4

Calderdale, for the mountain biking. You might notice that neither of those bikes is a mountain bike, and that's because the components of my new mountain bike are currently packed in Very Exciting Box. When my new landlady (also a mountain biker) asked me how many bikes I had and I went "um… 3.5" she replied "Oh that's not many compared to most mountain bikers I know" :0

I just moved. The view out of my room isn't all that, but the room is huge, in a converted barn, and I have my own porch for bike storage etc. Apparently there'll be lambs in the garden within a few months. I'll get up on the hills and post a proper view as soon as I shake this cold.

You're on the Idle Thumbs forums, where it's often both of those things. -

God damn, I beat Olmec for the first time on PC today, and OBS didn't record it. I must've fucked up the key press. I find that especially frustrating given the number of close calls I had with things like shotgun pellets and being a few frames away from infinite yeti punches, but it's there on the leaderboard. -

I looked at the reaction to the Irrational news on Twitter, then backed away slowly. If I worked for King (which I wouldn't), I'd feel pretty uncomfortable looking at this graph: http://www.businessinsider.com/candy-crush-popularity-chart-decline-2014-2 -
Whew. I managed the key run on Vita today, so am finally rid of tunnel guy. I'd assumed I'd need to fluke and get a jetpack to do it, but found the ice caves pretty manageable with just climbing gloves; especially when my only goal was the exit. I think a hell run is the only main thing I'm yet to try.

It's a fairly big spike in difficulty, and taking a lot of bombs helps. Blowing shortcuts through the temple levels often makes them much easier, and when it comes to shopkeepers waiting by the exit, there's usually either something nearby that kills them, or enough space that they run off and give you an opportunity to get in the door. Watching the temple parts of other people's dailies helped me most.

An excellent death elmuerte I'll get back to recording PC ones after I've moved house. I've been on the Vita ones most days though. Of course, the one no one else played I beat Olmec with about $450K. Days either side: Fell on spikes in the mines -

You're not the only one seeing it prettyunsmart. I very much doubt it's intentional, but it's it's a pretty shitty image they're propagating in general. Hey, everyone: You know how many long-dead people sound like bigoted idiots when quoted uttering commonplace opinions from their time? It's highly probable that's what many of our words will also sound like in a century or two. As dium said, no harm in making the world a better place eh? -
I'm really glad Gone Home has done so well despite the hate. It's one of a only a few games non-gaming friends have approached me wanting to talk about. Best:

While a lot of sales data is actually useless to third parties, I'd definitely like to see how their model compares to a typical F2P one over time.
-
Here's an interesting and upfront model for free to play: http://www.tuaw.com/2014/02/12/this-is-how-in-app-purchases-should-be-handled/ FTP means something different.

Dude no! That sucks Tegan, sorry to hear it. You can build a life without their homophobic bullshit.

I bought a Vita for all kinds of reasons, but that's become its sole use. Didn't even complete Tearaway. -

Somewhat related: I've been involved in drafting safe spaces policies for several different organisations recently. I've made each of those a closed process carried out by a small group of people, because an attempt at doing one with the entire membership of an organisation last year was disastrous. From men's rights assholes to the severely paranoid, it attracted really time-wasting, energy sapping debates until everyone gave up. Discussing it afterward, I pointed out that one in five people in the UK suffer mental illness at some point in their lives, and above a certain number of people we're bound to deal with some of them. Someone else quite rightly pointed out that this particular organisation attracts people who are a bit higher up the spectrum toward asperger's syndrome. Sadly, it's the small percentage of awkward, noisy, demanding people who will take the lions share of your time. I never feel bad setting up mail rules to exclude people from my inbox now. I used to, but when people have actually served up metaphorical plates of shit to you, they have no right to ask anything more (That Vietnam vet's story sounds tragic though, I can totally understand how you wouldn't be able to ignore that). -
So many of them aren't that I can't really make time to pick out the ones that are. Soz.

Seeing a cartoon Chris Spelunk with him actually doing a running commentary was more hilarious than it should be

In the past few days my job means I've watched a bunch of trailers and preview videos with narration about dragons, magic, ruthless megacorps etc. by really unenthusiastic sounding women.
-
Variable. When a somewhat bored sounding woman is talking about dragons and magic it does get really reminiscent of sad etsy boyfriends though, and I can't help but think they'd probably make much more interesting games than the ones they're doing VO for, if they had the urge to and felt it was accessible, then I get sad that making games is still such a fucking heavily gendered pursuit. Clyde: Nothing wrong with line drawings of animals on t-shirts *cough*

Please make this in some way. It doesn't have to be 3D to say the things it says. It'd totally work in RPG maker, Stencyl, etc.
-
I didn't tweet this because it would be so lacking in context there and people might assume inappropriate/untrue things about my personal politics, but I'm curating a show with about 200 entries at the moment, each of which had to submit a video, and: Sad voiceover girlfriends are the sad etsy boyfriends of video games.
