  1. Collector's/Special Editions

Yeah, I have it. It's alright, I just never know what to do with the stuff I get from these things. It's just on a bookshelf right now...
  2. Shadows of the Damned

This has me convinced to buy it next paycheque, if that helps.
  3. Which GTA to play?

We did a few weekly matches of L&D multiplayer back when it came out. General concensus was that the coop stuff was cool but the competitive took out stuff from the main game that wasn't worth losing. Man, it has been a while since Grand Thumb Auto though...
  4. Board games on the internet

Hmm... after looking around brettspielwelt for a while, I'm not finding any kind of option for a private game. Does this exist? The odds of being randomly paired up with my nephew are not that good... EDIT: OK, I googled some other stuff and found a way to do it. Man, this crap is dense to figure out. I think I'll have to be skyping with my sister while setting this up so he can help him get into a game. Once he's there though, I can see this being pretty fun. EDIT EDIT: Also, Vassal looks AWESOME. Thanks for the tip, Pat! EDIT EDIT EDIT: Ok, Vassal looks pretty cool assuming someone knows how to play the games in question perfectly. It also doesn't do any of the setup for you. Still, for things like Dominion, I could see this working pretty well.
  5. Board games on the internet

Yeah, I have Catan and Carcassonne, and have had my eye on Ticket to Ride for a long time, but my nephew is equipped only with a Wii, and this is mostly for him.
  6. Which GTA to play?

The PC version has never given me any trouble at all. Granted, I bought it long after it had come out and been patched up, but so did you TP, so I'm not sure what the general opinion of it's stability is now. I remember it having a very strong reputation for being broken at release, but it's been a long time now. Maybe I'm just lucky with my system?
  7. Books, books, books...

Murdoc worked for UbiSoft, right? I hypothesize Montreal. At any rate, Chapters here in Calgary still sells plenty of books, they just don't stock much that isn't on a bestseller list. I believe we're dealing with an overstatement here.
  8. Collector's/Special Editions

Haha. My DS Lite was covered in those Rhythm Heaven stickers. That was a great little pack-in.
  9. Idle Forums Game Club - Killer 7 edition

I love KAEDE's gun, so I play as her most of the time. The shorter life bar is a downside, but if you're a good shot it doesn't matter so much.
  10. Which GTA to play?

I want this so bad right now. So very, very bad.
  11. Idle Forums Game Club - Killer 7 edition

The masked man will only flip you the double bird if you shoot his mask, indicating that you want a more detailed hint. It's the game mocking you for not figuring it out on your own. EDIT: And it's getting to type things like that that makes me glad I'm doing this.
  12. [PROTOTYPE] In Stores Today!

2-year-old-threadsurrection! So this was $15 during the Steam sale. That meant that I decided to pick it up after all this time. I installed it but didn't start it right away. Then on Wednesday , I had a really shitty day (very high amount of stress lately [job and school related] finally hit tipping point when my oven element caught fire while I was making lunch, which I now have to fix) and needed to tear shit up. Started the game, and have had two 2-hour sittings with it so far. I gotta say, I'm having a lot of fun. It was really nice to have a concerned friend message me on Steam after hearing about shit I was able to respond with a big shit-eating grin on my face and the words "I just ate a helicopter." The movement in this game feels great, and I think a big benefit of playing this game two years after release is that while the graphics were reportedly dated at the time, now it just looks like an old game, which it is, so I don't care. I enjoy consuming a civilian woman who is wearing very impractical shoes and then watching her run up the side of a building and fly for 5 blocks. I don't think I've actually watched a single cutscene so far, but I don't give a shit about what's going on. I simply tear up tonnes of people and military personnel, grab a tank, elbow-drop a helicopter, and fly away from the carnage as an old lady laughing maniacally. Great stress relief this. I still probably wouldn't recommend it for the $30 that it is on Steam at regular price, but I'm happy I dropped the $15 on it and am having great fun.
  13. Which GTA to play?

Yeah, Busey was the crazy Vietnam vet amputee who ran the gun store out of the junk yard in Vice City. He only factored into a couple of missions, but as those missions involved driving a tank with Busey yelling at you, that was ok.
  14. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

So far I've only been using the Beam ship. I actually found that the final boss wasn't too bad after a few tries. I've played that level 6 times now. Beat it on my third, 5th, and 6th tries, and last time I only needed one continue and didn't even lose a life after using it. The pattern is actually not so bad. I replayed the first level on Divine difficulty now and got through it ok, but the second handed me my ass. What sorts of different benefits do the different ships have? By the time I'd unlocked all of them, I was good with the Beam ship and didn't want to mess myself up. Now that I've beaten the game, I'm thinking about mixing it up a bit with others.
  15. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

Is this where people talk about shmups now? So, Jamestown. After seeing the Giant Bomb quick look of this game, I had to have it. It went cheap on the Steam sale, so I picked it up then, but it's regularly $10 and it's pretty good value for that. I bought it for the batshit weird story premise, but have since found it to be a really good introductory shmup. I'm especially fond of the way that it gently encourages you to bump up to higher difficulty settings. There are 5 levels in the game, but the easy difficulty setting only lets you play the first 3. When you do that, it says that to play the fourth you need to finish the first 3 on medium, and then to play the fifth you need to play the other 4 on hard. It's both lengthened game time and gotten me much better at this game than I thought I'd be at the beginning. I know this has been on other people's Steam wish list, as it tells me that friends are interested in the game, and I was wondering if anyone else had picked it up and what they thought of it?
  16. Shadows of the Damned

I feel kind of bad about this. I had my money in hand, looked at the two games over and over again, knew I only had cash for one, and bought Child Of Eden. Of course, Child of Eden also sold like crap, but I still feel bad about not buying Shadows of the Damned. Soon, I shall remedy this. Still, I wish I'd been able to support it earlier.
  17. Plug your shit

Well, welcome back then. ...you terrible person
  18. DSiWare

I would absolutely love to trade, were it possible. I already have the Game and Watch collection DS carts from Club Nintendo, am a huge Picross freak, and after spending enough time with it to watch the first 5 minutes of an episode of Mythbusters, can confirm that the 3DS Netflix app is essentially the same as the Wii's (read: awful, especially compared to the 360 and, in particular, the PS3) except slower on the exact same connection for reasons I don't quite get. Believe me, this week's update only sounds exciting to an outsider. I'm still considering picking up G&WG though, if only for a $3 game to play now that I've finished OoT3D.
  19. Minecraft

What, really? There's a thumbs dedicated server... It's been stickied in the "multiplayer networking thread" so head over there and get your minecraft on.
  20. Idle Forums Game Club - Killer 7 edition

Ooh! Good to know about the C stick. As for the Iwazaru thing, yeah, he talked about the "Thief" being a jerk who gets off on picking locks a bit, but after trying Con and Kevin, I gave up and started wandering around other ways. Whups.
  21. Idle Forums Game Club - Killer 7 edition

I finished chapter one. Took me more like 2 hours, but part of that was because I forgot Coyote could pick locks and I kept looking for other ways around stuff. Y'know what I'd really love? A manual reload. I got blasted quite a few times mid-forced reload. Bummer. Oh well. I'll wait until Sunday to get into any real discussion.
  22. DSiWare

You freaking jerk Europeans. You get Mario's Picross on 3DS today. I am so goddamned jealous right now. I just get stupid Game and Watch Gallery 1. Man. If you live in Europe, have a 3DS, and don't pick up this game, I hypothesize that you may be a terrible person. I can't be sure, but I feel confident in that guess.
  23. General Video Game Deals Thread

Also, PSN has PixelJunk Shooter 2 for $7 instead of it's normal, higher price this week. I grabbed it. Been wanting to check it out for a while.
  24. Deadly Premonition

I'd contribute. I'm actually halfway through re-watching the DP endurance run, just because I felt like watching some balls-crazy game stuff lately.
  25. Recently completed video games

What can I say? It's still one of the best games out there, as far as I'm concerned, and the changes that they made to put it on the 3DS are mostly non-trivial and all for the better. It's a better version of one of the greatest games, so yeah, high praise.
