Not a single one. A bit of slowdown every now and then, and one time it alt-tabbed itself away without me hitting those buttons, but I was able to switch back to it just fine.
  2. Thinking of Stepping up my video card

Hmmm... a 6790 is looking tempting then. Those of you who know these things: Is my processor up to the task of handling higher-end games if supported by this card? I don't want to drop $140 and then have to keep cranking things down anyway... EDIT: Just ordered the 6790. Hopefully it makes things much prettier. 4 years is a long time in video card years...
  3. Thinking of Stepping up my video card

Ah, yes. I will peruse that. Thanks for the tip.
  4. Nintendo 3DS

So all those NES games that were supposed to arrive tomorrow for ambassadors are out already. I downloaded all 10 and played through world 6 or the original Super Mario Bros real quick. Fun as ever, but the NES games are not the exciting part of the ambassador program. Not that owning a 4th copy of Zelda, 3rd copy of Zelda 2, and nth copy of Super Mario Bros isn't great or anything, but the GBA games are where it's at. I am of the opinion that Super Circuit is the best of the Mario Karts, and the rest of the announced crop are all pretty awesome as well. Now to eagerly await news of when they will arrive.

Devious, and also awesome. Just saw a winged ant in my bathroom as well. RAID-ed the fuck out of that thing. Can't wait for it to start getting cold again. I renewed my lease right before it started getting warm, then all of these things that only happen during the summer started happening that turned out to be issues with the place. Bummer times, but with September comes cold. Soon I will be just fine for the remainder of the lease, then out of here.

I set up my bedroom this afternoon! This included setting up my desktop for the first time since I moved in December (everything was fucking chaos and I was getting by fine with my laptop so I didn't worry about it). Man, it feels so fucking good to be using a proper keyboard again. My laptop is pretty good as they go, but any laptop keyboard will always be shitty compared to a half-decent dedicated one. It's really weird to boot up a PC for the first time in 8 months. Kind of a bizarre relic from the past. Spent hours today bringing it up to date while fixing everything else in my apartment. Also, when you haven't lived in a place for four weeks and had ANYTHING in the garbage before you left, fruit flies will be fucking EVERYWHERE. Gross. I wish I'd had a chance to empty the garbage before leaving in the rush that I was. Oh well. Progress is being made, I am starting to feel like things may actually be normal soon. That's a good feeling.
  7. General Video Game Deals Thread

Whups. I meant Gog. For some reason the fact that I only use two digital distributors means that occasionally I will substitute one for the other when typing quickly. Read my last post as exactly the same thing, but substitute "Gog" for "Steam".
  8. General Video Game Deals Thread

Why did no one ever tell me that Desperados was on Steam? I played the shit out of a PC Gamer demo of it back in the day. It was my introduction to the genre and I desperately wanted to try the whole thing but never had the opportunity. So excited now.

Y'know what? I liked the DVD movies of Futurama. There, I said it. They weren't the best things they've ever done and buckled a bit under trying to be an hour and a half long, but they were still fun and kept me going while I waited for the latest stuff. This may be because I didn't watch them until after it had been announced that the series was back in production, thus allowing me to not think "THIS IS GOING TO BE THE LEGACY OF FUTURAMA IT HAD BETTER BE GODDAMNED PERFECT" but I stand by that statement. I am proud to have all four of those movies sitting with the rest of the series on my DVD shelf. I also think that Monkey Island 4 is a pretty good adventure game and sorely underrated, but that's an argument for a different thread
  10. Life

I'm finally back in my apartment after not being able to live here since the 2nd. Haven't set anything up yet, mind (they'll still be fixing baseboards for the next hour or so) but today, hopefully, the month-long mould ordeal will finally be over. I'm going to bleach the hell out of my boxspring (really hoping that it just has scuff marks on it) and let it dry when I'm at work tonight, and then I'll be back in my own damn bed for the first time in a month just in time for the super stressful start of the school year. Awesome.
  11. Deus Ex 3

After 40 minutes of reloading and dying, I just beat him using what I will be calling the "Home Alone Method". That is, in a similar style to Macaulay Culkin in that movie, I cowered and threw cans at him until he went away. Dove into cover right at the start of the fight, then threw an EMP at him. Ran around behind him while he started searching where I was to gun me down. He was grenade spamming and shooting all over the back of the facility, while I ran down to the front and started finding explosive barrels to hit him with. 4 barrels and a clip from my assault rifle to the face (when I couldn't find any more barrels and just started praying to whoever that I'd softened him up enough) later, I saw a cutscene and am able to get back to playing the game I liked.
  12. Deus Ex 3

What the fucking fuck is up with this first boss fight? Up to this point, I have silently incapacitated (not killed) every single person except for two drug dealers who I had to kill to complete a side quest. As a result, I haven't put a single point into any combat skills. I remembered hearing it was a good idea to have a weapon around anyway, so I have a reasonably upgraded assault rifle, but no upgrades to my armour or abilities. As a result, I've just been slaughtered about 8 times while barely doing any damage to this fucker. If this keeps up, I can see myself rage-quitting and never coming back to this game. Given how much I've absolutely loved everything to this point, that is horrible. I can't believe how fucking out of character this feels for the game. What the hell were they thinking?

I just finished watching volume 5 of Futurama (the first 13 episodes after it was revived) and have to say how impressed I am that they re-found their groove so quickly. With Family Guy, I still find the first three (pre-cancellation) seasons funny, but everything since has been terrible. I was worried that Futurama would also become a "once was good, now is a shambling corpse" show and had put off watching the latest stuff for that reason. Happy to be proven wrong.
  14. Deus Ex 3

Misleadingly named. It's actually surprisingly tedious. Better than a manual load though. Usually I'm stealthy enough on my own to get through these situations without too much trouble, but every now and then I just get into this loop where I keep on alerting the same guard/camera and thinking that next time I'll be just that much faster as to get through unseen. And then I never am. Eventually, with one exception, I find a way around that has nothing to do with what I've been trying. The exception was when I put a cardboard box between where I was crouch-hacking a door and the security camera that kept swinging back to see me too fast.
  15. Deus Ex 3

Um... play Crysis? I just played through the tutorial bits before heading to work. This is pretty sweet, although I am falling into my old Splinter Cell habits of being seen by a single guard for a split second and hitting the quick load button. I should probably just roll with whatever happens, but dammit I want to be an invisible death machine!
  16. Plug your shit

Mixnmojo has a podcast? Who does it? What do they talk about (given that the current state of adventure gaming is probably a limited topic)? Is it good?
  17. Deus Ex 3

I just checked my email and discovered that my stepdad gifted this to me on Steam. I wasn't particularly excited about this game, mostly because I doubted I'd be able to afford it anytime soon. Now that I have it though, I'm hyping myself up something fierce. Only thing is: I've never played more than the tutorial for the original. I still intend to play it either way, but should I hold off on HR until after I've done so or should I just play HR now and keep DX1 on the stack for later?
  18. Why So Serious Sam 3?

Yeah, I noticed that too. What the fuck?
  19. Why So Serious Sam 3?

WHO THE FUCK PUT IRONSIGHTS IN MY SERIOUS SAM???
  20. Nintendo 3DS

I've never played a single game from the G*s & G*s series, so that doesn't do much for me. If it's an awesome game though, I'm up for it.
  21. Good Old GOG

Awesome! I'm going to be an English teacher in 2 years! Start my practicum in a couple of months! Hooray for teaching!
  22. Nintendo 3DS

So I should get it? I honestly know next to nothing about this game, but am always up for a good virtual console romp, especially as I've now finished every puzzle in Picross.
  23. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

    There is no fucking way.
  24. Recently completed video games

I just spent way too much time browsing TV Tropes. Jerk. Also, on the page for "Moon Logic" the main image is the cross-stitch of "Honey on the cat hair makes a moustache." Well done.

Oooh! As not funny as Control is, that's an awesome movie you grabbed.
