Tanu, I don't know if this is something that's feasible for you right now or not, but if you're going to be working for free either way, have you considered volunteering for a cause that you're into? Your parents would have to be pretty cold to say no to you working for a charity, and at the same time you'd be doing something out of the house and building your CV. You'd have some experience that you'd be able to use to get another job later, and as you're not getting paid for what you're doing right now anyway it's not like you'd be out the income. Even better, you may find yourself that much more fulfilled and relaxed, thus helping you cope with the panic attacks. Just a thought that occurred to me while reading your posts. If it's not a thing that'd work for you right now, oh well. If it is and you just hadn't thought of it though, maybe look into some options?

I actually busted out my DSi again for Kirby Mass Attack (fucking awesome, by the way) while still going through Star Fox over and over on my 3DS. It's been a pretty good combo for the past week or so.

Agreed. If they do it like Futurama, awesome. If they do it like Family Guy, shit.

Hahahaha. A Bugle fan, I presume? Mad props for "within this TEXTILE probably do worse."

Holy shit, they finally added 360 controller support? This is the best thing. I now have little to no reason to hold onto my original Xbox copy of the game, except that it's autographed so I'll hold onto it.

Only free for a day? Say what? I picked it up a couple of days after it went live and it was still plenty free. That said, at the same time I picked up Super Mario Land 2, so I haven't given any attention to Four Swords yet. Also, Kirby just arrived from Amazon, so I'll be playing that. Too much other DS stuff requiring my attention right now to worry about the quality of the free Zelda, but the chunk of tutorial I played seemed like a tutorial.

Yeah, tried that. No dice. See what I did there?

Yeah, it only runs in windowed mode for me, but oh well. It runs.

Tonight at work we have a Red Carpet Gala for "Becoming Santa", a documentary following a class of potential mall Santas through training. It's getting a pretty good response, but the most important part of the story was that we just had 4 reindeer and multiple Santas and elves milling about in our theatre's courtyard. I took a bunch of shots on my 3DS (unfortunately, they're only viewable in 3D on the DS itself as far as I can tell) and made a public facebook album. Link ahoy! Hopefully you guys can check that out. If it doesn't work, here's what I think is my favourite photo from the set:

I had a quick game this afternoon, mostly because I want to see what my new video card makes of this sucker. It looks really damn good, so that's a plus. My team won a thing and I feel pretty good about that. Multiplayer stuff has never been my thing, so I have nothing to compare it to. Fun enough though. If there are Thumb games happening, I'd be up for some shooting.

So thanks to the 6 million download mark being hit, Broken Sword Director's Cut is free until October 1st. Add that shit to your library if you (like me) have never played it but always been curious.

We love you, too.

Say WHAT? Fucking awesome.

Perhaps. All I know is that I saw "LEVEL 5: SPECTRAL BLADE UNLOCKED" and got really sad. I want my damn skill trees, not just access to things as I level. Meaningful choices, please. EDIT: Also, it definitely showed stats autoleveling. Maybe they only have that in the beta or something, but I don't get why they would do that even there. From the skill thing on their website, it looks like you get access to a new skill every couple of levels and slot them into one of 6 slots that open up as you level (ie: your sixth slot doesn't become available until level 24). That's not choice, that's inventory management. You still have all the spells, you just "equip" different ones by situation. That doesn't feel very Diablo to me.

My advice? Be SUPREMELY mysterious. Don't actually do that. My first date with my girlfriend of over four years, I wore nothing but dazzling gold underpants (Rocky Horror screening in costume). There was nothing mysterious after that.

I seem to remember that happening the first time Bioshock 1 hit $5.

Numpad barks confirmed! About 57 minutes into this extended look at the Diablo 3 beta, they start spamming the demon hunter's numpad barks. Awesome. EDIT: Also, super worryingly, apparently the game auto-assigns skills and stats as you level. What the hell, Diablo? If I'm not leveling myself and making tough decisions about what to do with my character, a big part of the appeal is gone for me. On the other hand, the monk looks fucking awesome and I really want to play the game as one.

Yeah, RPS has been linking some good stuff the past couple of weeks. I read that one from their link yesterday. Is it the prospect of reviving the thread, or the stuff that's already here what is terrifying to you, Sal? Some of the things I've read here have depressed me plenty, but it has seemed like the pretty bog-standard "Things are fine, shut up" responses that people have before they get better informed, nothing particularly scary, just a bummer.

Fair enough. I'd been playing to kill time at work while waiting for the last show of the night to end so I could lock up. I did that for about 4 nights in a row and just wasn't feeling it, so I stopped playing. Also, the same kind of "GAAAH I WANT TO ZOOM OUT WAY MORE" problems I'm currently having with Baldur's Gate apply.

I tried playing it for the first time a few months back and found it really hard to get into. Maybe I'll try again in a bit, but it's pretty rough if you're coming at it having never played it before.

Yeah, English subtitles. They were calling it the North American English premiere, so still true.

I just saw the very first English language screening of "Les Aventures Extraordinaires D'Adele Blanc-Sec" (The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec). If you haven't heard of it, it's because the movie has only been released in French up til now. First in Europe, and then in Quebec. The Calgary International Film Fest really wanted to show the film, and contacted the producers to make a subtitled version. The very first screening of it was just put on by yours truly, and I watched the entire thing because it was phenomenal. If a lady Indiana Jones riding a pterodactyl and raising a bunch of mummies to roll through 1911 Paris with, this is a movie for you. It's also a Luc Besson film, if that helps. This film needs to be seen by everyone. Hopefully now that a translation exists it will get a wider release somehow. I haven't seen a movie that is so purely fun in a long time. It's goddamned joyous. Check it out.
