It's a universally acknowldeged fact. Teenagers fucking suck. You too will realize this once you are no longer biased by being one.
  2. Life

God bless you internet, never letting us forget that we were dumb teenagers.
  3. Gears of War 2

    Yup. The whole thing.
  4. Life

True, it will take significantly less than that. I'm just saying that if he happens to reflect on this in 5 years time, it will still seem silly.
  5. Diablo III

I intend to read your article, but based off of what you wrote here, that's pretty much exactly what I was afraid of. Sure, you still get to customize things, but it seems more like you're choosing a loadout than making any kind of meaningful, permanent choice about how to play the game. I want to feel like my character is my character, not just a thing that happens to be mine for the couple of hours that I have this set of things equipped. To me, it's a difference between choice and meaningful choice.

I'm pretty sure Patters has nailed it there. In 5 years, you'll feel silly for having placed this much weight on this situation. Basically, good on you for realizing that worrying about this isn't worth your time and moving forward.
  7. Fourza Motorsport

Want... this... game... (and that car)... so... hard. God damn it, school responsibilities. I just got rigged up with a new, not broken, laptop, so a bit of gaming while away from home is feasible again. Anything console probably won't happen until December at least. This game though. Fuck. This game...

Awesome! Is this at the place that we were talking about on Steam? Congrats! EDIT: Corrected for colloquial register. I wrote that as I would say it and it looked stupid. I guess I really am meant to be an English teacher.
  9. Fable III: The Chicken Rebellion

I played a bit of Fable 2, up to a little bit past meeting what's his face, the outlaw king. Liked what I played, but also found the combat to be really tedious, so when life got in the way and I couldn't play for about a month, I just never went back. Bought Fable 3 on Steam because I wanted to see what they'd done with it but still have yet to fire it up. I'm wondering now if it's even worth ever starting it now, after reading these comments. Bummer.

I have no idea how that works, but am certain that it will eventually work its way into a children's toy that I will have to own regardless of whether or not I have children.
  11. Life

Yup, that is exactly what sucks about working at a theatre. On the other hand, it allows me to go to school during the day, so there are advantages to the weird hours as well.
  12. Life

Ha. That has to do with what I mentioned about it not being weird that they'd call on a weekend. Again, as a cinema manager, don't sweat it too hard. The interview was likely short because they don't need to grill you too hard in order to work at a concession stand. The gig is pretty laid back most of the time, so they won't need to know a tonne of details about you. Hell, I think the last time we hired someone, the interview was a phone call when we asked if they were still interested and when they were able to come in for training. If you got it, sweet. If you didn't, don't worry about it too much. Places like that get a lot of resumes, and it really just comes down to luck more than anything else which ones get pulled for even a call-back. That you made it that far is a good sign.
  13. Costume Quest

Y'know, I bought the DLC on my PS3 but never played it. I should get on that. Got every possible thing in the main game though. I liked it quite a bit.
  14. Project Zomboid

Holy fuck that's terrible for them. I don't know if this is one of the most cursed game development projects out there, but it's certainly the most public I've seen. I feel for these guys.

Heh. A couple of days ago my girlfriend referred to a feed bag as a "horse bag" and had no clue why I laughed for so long about it.
  16. V The Elder Scrolls

I like having fast travel available, actually. The way I played Fallout 3, I didn't use it until the end when I was mopping up leftover sidequests, but at that point you don't want to be spending all of your time walking everywhere. If it weren't for fast travel, I wouldn't have finished most of the sidequests. Even more so when playing the DLC. I've already explored and completed the entire world, I just want to get to the new area I purchased and play the new content, so it was nice to be able to fast travel right next to it and just get under way.
  17. Life

Damn. Just... damn. I'm pretty sure that's topped it. EDIT: Also, Tanu: speaking as a cinema manager, it's certainly not uncommon for us to give a call back on a weekend day. In my theatre's case, Saturday and Sunday are the only days when anyone is there before 6pm, so those are the only days when we would do something like that. Good luck with it!
  18. Life

Punctuation aside, I'm glad you're doing productive things, Tanu! That Red Cross thing seems like a great way to start taking a bit more control over your life. Is the Oxford comma (specifically, the lack thereof) one of those things that's cool in American English but not in the UK/Canada? If my second grade teacher ever saw me end a list without a comma in front of the "and", I'd have to re-do the entire thing.
  19. Life

I didn't even realize there was such a thing as an Oxford comma. I was always just taught that that is the correct way to list things. Is not putting a comma there still grammatically correct?
  20. Kirby Mass Attack for Nintendo DS

So I beat this game tonight. It was pretty awesome. They actually do a pretty damn good job of mixing up the things that your hoard of Kirbies is doing. This is surprising given that when controlling 10 characters simultaneously with one pointer, all I expected to be able to do was furiously tap the right side of the screen while screaming "FREEEEEEEDOOOOOOM!!!" or something to that effect. Not that there isn't plenty of that in the game. In fact, doing that never really gets old, thanks to the animation. Aside from that though, there are flick-your-Kirbies-at-an-enemy-strategically bits, zero-g space bits, Donkey Kong style barrel cannon bits, and much more. It all gets put together very well, and I enjoyed pretty much all of my time with it. One thing that is not so awesome is that at the end of the game, after you have finished every level of any consequence, it says that in order to get to the final boss you need to find every rainbow medal. Every level in the game has three to five medals in it, and one medal on each level is rainbow coloured. I was pretty thorough going through, so I only had about 7 medals to pick up by the time I got to that point, but it still seemed tedious after how well paced everything to that point had been. Even worse, all you get after all of that effort is a lacklustre world 5 that consists of replaying each boss fight and then fighting a ridiculously easy final boss. Not that I expected Kirby to be hard at any point, but that last hour or so of the game really sucked a bit of life out of an otherwise fantastic game. I still highly recommend it, but be warned that if a boss-rush section is not your thing, you may want to skip out on the game at the point that it tells you to go find all the rainbow medals.
  21. That's weird. I wonder why the required HDD space is 15GB for the disc version and 10GB for the digital download. You'd think the download would need more room?

  23. iPhone/iTouch gaming

Well, as I dug Monkey Ball, I figured I'd give a few other games a try. Downloaded two more. So, without further ado: The first is that Trism game that got featured on Kotaku a while back. I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Bejewled, but with the way you hold the phone contributing to the gameplay. Fired up the endless mode. Bad choice. Played for over an hour. Bloody addictive. For $5, definitely recommended. The fact that the game includes achievements is cool, and always a pleasant surprise when you unlock something. Fun, addictive, simple, makes good use of the accelerometer. Good job all around. The second game is called Tap Tap Revenge. I was just surfing around looking for reviews of iPod games and came across it. Went to the iTunes store to check it out, and lo and behold, it's fucking free. Not being stupid, I downloaded it and gave it a try. Very addictive rhythm game. The commands that ask you to shake the ipod in a certain direction are not as sensitive as they should be, but there's an option to turn them off and replace them with normal notes. You have three bars, red, blue, and green, and as orbs fly down them, you need to tap on the orb as it crosses a line at the bottom of the screen. Sound familiar? Actually can get pretty challenging, and I found myself having to put three fingers over the bottom of the screen on hard and higher lest I fuck up. Easy and medium can be played just moving your index finger around though, and are nice and relaxing. There are only two complaints I have with this game. Firstly, the aforementioned ipod flick notes don't hit as often as they should. Again though, this is a non-issue as they can be disabled outright. Secondly, the tracklist is incredibly sparse, though there is already DLC songs you can get. Those are free as well. To summarize, the game is free, the extra songs are free, the only problem with the gameplay is entirely optional. Get this damn game. The only way it could be better is if it incorporated the music I already have like Audiosurf or Phase.
  24. Kirby Mass Attack for Nintendo DS

I can confirm awesome. I'm almost done the fourth (and I think final?) world. I'll write more about it when I'm not about to run out the door to work.
  25. The Last Express

It always makes me laugh when a husband-wife duo have a conversation on a forum. See also: Subbes and Shammack. Such specific, yet also kind of mundane details are so far removed from regular internet discourse it brings a huge smile to my face.
