YMMV, out of context, sounds to me like "Your Mileage May Vary." So, "this is just my experience, yours may be quite different." This is based off of absolutely nothing but seeing the letters and trying to think of common phrases that would fit into them.

I bought Driver San Francisco today. I've been wanting to check this game out for forever. Played the first chunk of it today, and yeah, it's pretty awesome. While it's still $25, I'd say think about it.

Hey guys, what's going on in this thread?
-
Stability has been weird for me. I've never had a problem once the game actually starts, but twice the game has crashed to desktop while doing the "checking for downloadable content" thing loading up the main menu. If I can get through that, solid as a rock. I'm also using Nvidia stuff, DX11 turned off.

Actually, I'm a huge fan of Uplink. Good as Darwinia is, Uplink had my heart pounding way more than most other video games have ever achieved.

Got Dead Island, as I've been looking to check it out for a while now. I've heard that analog control has since been patched into the PC version. There is, at the very least, a fan patch that does it well. I'm not sure about an official one, but I intend to check.

I've been playing a bunch of the PC version over the past 2 days. Hasn't given me any trouble. I've barely touched the story, honestly. They're still telling me things like "Use your grappling hook" in tooltips. That said, I've put about 6 hours into side missions by now. It's pretty damn fun, although the story is honestly really painful to watch happen. Dialogue too. Really, it's a great game with a great atmosphere and HORRIBLE story/acting (apart from Joker and [to an extent] Penguin). Catwoman is particularly awful, and makes me feel creepy for playing a game with her in it. It's pretty rare that a game makes me feel voyeuristic in it's intro mission. The very first thing I did in this game was run forward with Catwoman, do a knee slide, and laugh like an idiot because within 30 seconds of starting the game I was literally staring down her cleavage. The coworker sitting next to me and I cracked up creating fanservice moments over and over, but if she hadn't been beside me and I'd just been seeing that in my dark bedroom I would have felt really uncomfortable. Problematic is probably an understatement. That said, the model for Two Face is fucking great, so props to Rocksteady for that.

Forgotten Sands was a really fun weekend. It feels like they tried to make an ACTUAL sequel to Sands of Time, and were more successful in that than I'd have expected them to be. I don't know what the price of it is right now, but it's certainly worth a look.

L.A. Noire actually isn't a bad example of that. I played to about halfway through the second "desk" and got really bored and frustrated with the game. Won't be buying another game because of release hype for a while because of that one (I hope, anyway).

Installed! I may have a chance to play it for a bit this afternoon, but probably not! I'll likely be waiting until Thursday, but at least it's finally on my damn machine!

C'mon man, Biggontology is just a plot to get poor suckers to hand over all their fish. Wake up.

Cameo means he's not in it more than that? Boo.

Still waiting on my copy from Future Shop. Really want to play this game. Your thoughts just make me want to get into it more.

Hey, Phantom was still really good. I liked it a whole lot and never had a problem with the TotOK myself, but I can certainly understand how people would. I also thought that Spirit Tracks was a better game though. Maybe not necessarily a better ZELDA game, what with the train things limiting world exploration a bit (really though, not much more than anything else. Just because you can move around Hyrule field while going from A to B to C doesn't mean there's anything worth doing there) it does serve to make it a significantly more portable-friendly experience. I liked it very much for what it did, and actually remember you saying in the past that the boss was super hard. No idea what your deal with that was, honestly. If felt pretty in line with everything else the game has to offer for me. Subjective thing, I guess, but you're the only person I've ever heard that from. Short answer: No, YOU back the fuck down.

Spirit Tracks was a significant improvement over Phantom Hourglass. I'd definitely check it out if you enjoyed bits of Phantom Hourglass but got sick of the repetition.

Oh shit! Hi Yufster! Long time no see! I just got a new laptop, so all my speaking comes from that. I haven't looked at desktop stuff in about 5 years, except to upgrade my video card one time over the past summer. Desktop stuff is not something I know any more. As always, all my dollars are Canadian as well, so take that into account. I recently upgraded from a "3 year old breaking-all-the-time" laptop to a new, "stable, fast, and plays a lot of things" laptop. It ran me roughly $1200, which was quite the bite to take out of a student loan. Fortunately, I have a mother who lives in a different province and was feeling guilty that she hadn't helped me pay for school this year so she paid for a part of that instead. All things considered, for what it does, $1200 is pretty reasonable. If you downgraded the graphics chip in the thing and made the monitor a bit smaller but kept the processor speed high, you could probably get a decent one under $1000. Honestly, the only problem I have with my machine is that it is designed to look like a stealth bomber, which I think is stupid and they think is a selling point. I took it out in class and a friend said to me "Dude, your laptop looks like Batman's laptop." I could not argue with her on that point, and felt stupid for it. I immediately put Hello Kitty stickers on it to counteract this effect. The name of it is ASUS G53SW-A1. If you are ok making a laptop your primary computer, I would recommend one or a similar variant. For everyday things, it is very important to me that the keyboard is awesome, much better than any other laptop keyboard I've ever used. To contract this into point form: - A laptop is a nice option. A very good one now will probably run you less than $1500, and one that can do what you want plus play some cool games would be about $1000. - If you go for a laptop, most of their keyboards are shit so make sure you find one that is good for that. If at all possible, try typing something on it before you buy it. - I know nothing about desktops - Hello Kitty stickers are rad. In closing, welcome back! Post more things!

Very pretty! I've been completely buried in school and my increasingly shitty job for the past month or so. There are currently rumours that the Cinematheque is in talks to buy my theatre as their new home-base, which would be fucking fantastic as the guy who is currently running things is garbage at it. I would be more than happy with this, especially as the Cinematheque people love me and run amazing shows (they've rented us out tonight for a reel-to-reel screening of "A Woman Under the Influence", for example) on a monthly basis. If they took over the lease, they'd keep doing amazing shows, do a lot more of them, and make the place a fantastic community theatre for when they're not using it. A member of their board even approached me and asked if, "hypothetically", I'd be willing to stay on if they took over. Hell yes. On the other hand, now that I've been out teaching for a little bit, it's fucking suffocating to be back taking university classes and working for a shitty boss. I went out and worked for two weeks. I feel like, rather than merely kinda wanting to teach, I've now completely found my calling. Being pulled out of that so abruptly sorta hurts. I gotta get myself back in the classroom, but won't be teaching again until March. I'm already counting down the days.

Wow. Maybe you had a bad Wii remote or something? I didn't have anywhere NEAR that many problems. Hell, I don't remember any problems at all. While the art style and tone of the world was kind of boring, I quite enjoyed the dungeon design and had a really fun time actually playing the game. I still think that what Zelda needs more than anything else is a real Wind Waker 2, but none of the games have ever been BAD. Also, Minish Cap is one of the best games, so .

I have a preorder and am super stoked for this game. I agree: nuts to Skyrim. This and Saint's Row the Third are the two things I'm looking forward to most this year.
-
They don't become real games until SWAT3. That series changed genres twice. From bad FMV game to Commandos rip off to really good tactical shooter.

Many happy returns, Mr. Spafford!

In the case of the co-op to single player thing, everyone IS reacting purely to rumour. In this case, a rumour that the developer has repeatedly said "well that would be a stupid thing to do. We're not doing that." So yeah, tempering your reactions here may be called for. I loved ME1 and 2, so these potentialities are distressing to me as well, but I'm waiting until the reviews start hitting to start judging it poorly.
