I think I just did.

Yeah. Actually, now that I've finished Pushmo and Mutant Mudds and have no big 3DS releases on the horizon that I can tell, I've gone back to Persona 3 Portable. I hadn't played it since last September and had forgotten how good it was. So, at the moment, I'm playing PSP more than anything else.

Man, that would be so tempting if I lived in the states...

Have not tried it yet. I'm skeptical about downloadable stuff until I see some kind of demo or something. I'll likely be very interested if/when Giant Bomb has a QL of it. They've been pretty good about 3DS stuff.

I finished it and got the credits. Then EXTRA PUSHMO opened up. The last one alone had me going back to it off an on for almost a week before I figured out what I was doing, now I'm just overwhelmed. If there are still 60-ish puzzles left but I've seen credits, should I consider it done?

Yeah, the Starbucks near my house. Not the best thing in the world, and less cool than the job I'm leaving, but it'll do. Also, it's being incredibly great about my school stuff. They wanted to hire me on as a shift supervisor rather than starting as a barista, but as I have a practicum coming up for the first three weeks of April, I was worried that this would be the worst time to be starting a new job. The store manager actually went out of his way to schedule my training and starting shifts around practicum without me even having to ask for any kind of concessions. March will be when I train for supervisory duties, April 2nd to 20th I'll be teaching grade school, and then right after I'll be jumping into the job unsupervised and ready to kick ass for the summer. I'm really happy that he's being so cool about my school schedule, as that was the thing I was worried about way more than anything else.

I too just had this pop up in my podcast subscriptions. I love that, every now and then, something manages to pop up there. Such a friendly thing to see.

I got a letter! I haven't read it yet, because I don't want the content of this post to in any way be effected by it! It's so nice to see mail in my box that isn't from a bank! EDIT: I have written you a reply. I hope to get it in the mail over the next couple of days. I may be too lazy. We'll see.

I totally have a job! I start three days after my last shift at the current place. This means that I even have a whole weekend off, which I haven't for years! Whoo!

How much do we need to sponsor for in order to buy Famous a pair of socks?

When I found out about this, it was already over $75,000. Regardless, I pledged $60 despite being unemployed to get one of those sweet new t-shirts shipped to Canada.

In my head, I just read your post in the voice of Scruffy from Futurama. It seemed appropriate.

As I'm on the way out from my job now and people were asking for a story about how bad my boss is, here's an example from last weekend: On Saturday there was a listing for a rental at 7pm. It just said "Brenda". I figured that this was the Brenda who is in charge of most of the Calgary Underground Film Festival, so was prepared for some reasonably big event. However, as that was all the info that had been given to us, I couldn't really do anything other than brace myself. At about 4:30, imagine my surprise when Michael Biehn and two of his aides walked in the front doors. Now, even if you don't know him from anything else, this is the guy who played Kyle Reese in Terminator. So, kind of a big deal. Turns out that he's touring to promote a campy horror movie that he directed and the night before they had sold out the Garneau Cinema in Edmonton (the place my amazing former boss left to take over 8 months ago). The Garneau has about 200 more seats than us, making for just short of 600, so they were expecting to sell us out as well and were understandably pissed off that there was nothing on the marquee and no posters of any kind. All I could tell them was that I hadn't been told a thing and I'd get the event up on the marquee right away. Thanks to the way in which my boss handled the event, we sold a grand total of 60 tickets. The Underground festival and Biehn himself were both livid and called my boss to yell at him for a solid 45 minutes. He still refuses to admit he had anything to do with the problems the event had. It's things like this that make me fairly sure that, by the end of the year, the last independent cinema that Calgary has (this one) will be closed. Glad I'm getting out though, 'cause holy fuck I didn't know you could mismanage an event that badly.

You will need to post seven more times. And only in the "Gaming" forum. Idle Banter doesn't count.

Exactly. I honestly wouldn't even mind (that much) if Origin ran with all of the games that used it, but those games were still launchable via Steam and just launched a small Origin component with them when you started them (a la GFWL). It's not ideal and more clutter than you need, but my problem with Origin isn't Origin itself so much as it means that I can't get the games on Steam, which is my go-to launcher for all things PC. If they could work that out, I'd stop caring. As it is, I have an Origin client and linked a bunch of the EA games that I had CD keys from Steam to it, but then have not bothered to launch it again. Hard to care.

I know a guy. Come by the one I'll be working at...

I do too. I honestly feel pretty sick to my stomach right now. I hope to hell that the job actually happens. Signs point to yes, but this day or two without certainty is already killing me only a few hours in. I applied at Starbucks in the first place because I have a couple of friends who have worked their for a long time and are happy with it, so I hope that pans out for me.

Yes, that review was published in March 2005. I graduated high school in May 2005. I interpreted correctly...

A boondongle is a word that jumped into my mind a couple of months ago when the circle pad attachment for the 3DS was announced. It is a (usually control-oriented) addition to an existing piece of gaming hardware that is never actually accepted by the gaming public and ends up being a failure for the company that put it out. Possible examples include the Donkey Konga drums, uDraw pad, and (if it ever comes out) Wii vitality sensor. Whether or not the circle pad turns out to be this, it is responsible for the word coming to mind. Knowing that Giant Bomb loves stupid shit like that, I sent it to the bombcast in an email.

So my second interview went really well. Bureaucracy is what it is though, so now that the district manager likes me he has to go back to the guy who interviewed me on Tuesday and say he approves, then the guy can hire me. That may not happen until after the weekend. I'm sick enough of the theatre that I decided that was "good enough" for me and just gave my two weeks notice. I really hope this doesn't fall through, but if it does I can always call a province over and beg my mum for a bailout I suppose. She's offered as much anyway. I'm terrified right now, but I had to pull the trigger on this decision sooner or later.

I was still in high school when that was published. I now have a degree and am halfway to a second. I'd say that qualifies it as a while ago.

What don't you disapprove of?

Man, insider news! Also, I just realized that the image says "Idle Thumbs, Video Games, and you" clearly indicating that Jake is now separate from the rest of the Idle Thumbs people. Why else would he need to be specifically mentioned as a different name on the list? Is this a sign of Jake's solo career beginning? Alternatively, does this mean that Jake had a solo career that was a horrible failure and is now re-joining the Thumbs that he shunned?

Close enough! I'm really glad that the internet has that gif(t) back.

Classy? Sure. I can't imagine it's comfortable though.
