  1. Sleeping Dogs

It was definitely not in IV, also by virtue of the fact that you couldn't have different hair/body styles in IV. CJ could look like anything, and the girls all responded differently and actually had personal tastes based on that. It was pretty rad.
  2. VALVe money grab #134: Autumn Sale

That whole "It'll be on sale at Christmas" thing is the reason I haven't bought Borderlands 2 or Dishonoured. I'll get around to them then. For now, no time.
  3. VALVe money grab #134: Autumn Sale

I feel like that would enhance my enjoyment of the game...

Oh, no you wouldn't. I think that's come up for me with games before, but I forget which ones. Pretty sure it doesn't carry though. Hell, I remember some people being pissed off that they accidentally bought the French version of some DLC instead of the English, and Microsoft wouldn't even let them play the same stuff in a different language on the same console. I doubt carrying a DLC license across platforms is something they'd do.
  5. PS Vita

So it seems like nobody gives a shit about the Vita anymore, but due to having PSN+ (and thus like 5 free Vita games), a Shopper's Drug Mart black Friday sale (knocking $50 off the price), having $60 in Shopper's Drug Mart points, and having a girlfriend who is baffled by what to do for gifts when my birthday and Christmas are 6 days apart (meaning she kicked $100 towards the thing, covering half of the budget we agree upon to not over-spend on each other), I just got a Vita for like $30. It'll be wrapped and saved for my birthday, which has the added benefit that I won't be distracted by shiny new tech while I'm still in practicum, but it is currently in my house. I'm quite excited to start messing with the thing, and the PSN+ deal means I already have things like Uncharted, Wipeout, Mutant Blobs Attack, and Jet Set Radio free and tied to my PSN account, so now I'm wondering what else the Thumbs may recommend. Does anyone have one now? Do you actually play it? I'm considering AC Liberation (I actually enjoyed Bloodlines on PSP...) and Persona 4 Golden. Is there anything else I should have my eye on right now? Let's re-ignite this Vita thread, folks!

Minerva's Den wouldn't be, no. If you buy Bioshock 2 on Steam, you need to start the game, which starts GFWL, then go into the DLC thing on that and buy it from Microsoft. That's what I had to do, anyway. Still worth it. If you own the 360 version of Bioshock 2 already, you'd be able to buy Minerva's Den from the Live store, but you wouldn't already have it (unless there was a GOTY edition or something that had it bundled? I don't remember hearing about one...)
  7. Particularly with cops and crooks. God, it was fucking years ago that we played that stuff. Wish I still had time for some weekly thumb games.
  8. Life

We had ours in early October. I pretty much am only aware of American Thanksgiving because things become temporarily cheap on the internet.
  9. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

I read that as "Grodus" and thought it was about the bad guy from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door...

  11. Recently completed video games

Over the past couple of weeks, I decided that I desperately needed a break from school stuff every now and then and have completed two (!) games. The first is Assassin's Creed Revelations. I had started playing this way back in February, and have slowly been working my way through it at a rate of about two hours a month ever since. Turns out that the save I had created in September (last time I played) was about two missions from the end credits. So I got to them. The game was fine. I think I was just ready to be done with Ezio now. I still quite liked it, and can't say for any particular reason why it didn't grab me the way the other three games had (each of those took me a week to beat). Worth playing if you can get it on the cheap. The second is Journey. I fired that up tonight after registering for a PSN Plus account, as I finally decided that would be a thing I should check out. Plus looks goddamned awesome, but that's beside the point. I started playing Journey a little bit last month, in that I installed it, played the first level, and went to bed. I picked up a save tonight at the start of the second level, and after about five minutes of fucking around noticed that there was a dude with me. At first I was actually irritated by this. Who is this clown crowding my meditative sand-surfing experience? Turns out it made the game so much better. We played from the start of the second level through to the end credits as a duo. That last section with the climb up the snowy mountain was incredible with a partner, especially as the game has what is basically a "huddle for warmth" mechanic. When we started getting separated and I noticed that the wind and cold had made my chirp far quieter, I felt lost and legitimately scared that my friend had left me to freeze. When we re-met later in the level, it was completely joyous. Journey, man. That game is amazing.

You're getting augments! Of course it'll be fine. Unless you're about to fight the third boss. In all seriousness, I hope if goes well for you, man. Fingers crossed for a short recovery time.
  13. GOTY

Yeah, I can't speak to the gunplay. I'm just really enjoying the Batman-style fighting. It's probably the best implementation of it outside of the Arkham games that I've seen, and I'm having a great time just getting into brawls. Good times.
  14. GOTY

I spent a bunch of time with Sleeping Dogs this weekend. It's pretty good, you guys. I think it may end up in my top whatever. Action hijacks are awesome, but also make me really miss Just Cause 2, which was my goty 2010.
  15. Life

I just finished a day of school in which my partner (supervising) teacher called in sick 45 minutes before class. This left super inexperienced me (have been in the class for three days) and a hastily called in substitute each teaching about 50% of the day with little to no prep time. At the last minute, I installed the software to run things on a SMARTboard on my laptop and actually got lessons to work. The whole day was a bit of a mess, but the students couldn't tell and that's what matters. I feel pretty good about today, actually. Things were crazy, but I did it. Days like this make me feel like I can actually pull it off in 6 months when I get my teaching certificate. Nothing like a day of crisis to raise your confidence level. EDIT: It's a grade 1/2 split class, for detail's sake.
  16. Life

Yeah, I found that the year when I had no home internet and lived off of a leeched wifi signal from the restaurant next to my work was actually really good for me. I got hooked back in at home when I went back to school, as I kinda needed it for that, but cutting yourself off now and then can be pretty healthy.

Adam? This is your mother. What are you doing on the computer at this hour?
  18. Life

Totally, things change all the time. Some greater than others. I recently discovered (this summer) that I want to be a reader again, after not really reading a book for something other than school for about 5 years. I also started playing the guitar for the first time in almost 10. Now I'm finding that the time I used to spend gaming usually goes to one of those. I'm still gaming, so it's not quite as drastic as your shift, but I can totally see where you're coming from. Especially if you're young enough to be in an IB program (that's a high school thing, yes?), you'll see a lot more of that kind of shift yet.
  19. I remembered hearing that it was crazy and 3d. That was enough to make me want to see it.
  20. Jesus fuck, is that what the Lawnmower Man is? I always wanted to rent that when I was 5. I'm now very glad that I didn't. I don't think I would have slept until I was 13.
  21. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like CHRISTMAS

I still have my hat on from last year...
  22. GOTY

My game of the year has been "teaching". I keep on buying games and intending to play them, but those damn classes (about teaching students) and students (to be taught!) keep getting in my way. Over the summer, I played Uncharted 3, InFamous 2, and about half of Darksiders 2, only the latter of which is from 2012. The rest of the year has been spent more or less in a school-coma. Oh! I finished Assassin's Creed Revelations last week, which I started in March! There's also about 3/4 of Mass Effect 3. Man, I really need to try to play some shit over the winter break. I want to get into Walking Dead and Xcom so fucking bad, but no luck. I'd have to say my game of 2012 is a tie between Darksiders 2 and Mass Effect 3, not because either is particularly awesome (haven't finished either, no idea), but because they're pretty much the only games from the year that I've touched for more than a couple of hours.
  23. Jehuty in 1080p

It's here! Now to wait until Christmas break to play it!

I loved it the first time through, but REALLY loved it when I new game +'d my way through. Give it a try. Going through that game starting with everything really makes the whole thing open up in an amazing way.
