Shammack, you get a pass because of achewood reference and the fact that I know your wife spells properly. The rest of you,

Race for the Galaxy is good, if intimidating if you don't have someone to explain it to you well. I completely lost the thread when my buddy bought an expansion and all sorts of extra stuff got involved. Still, worth a look. On Monday we decided to play a game at my group that had been played like 3 times years and years ago by one of the people there but was completely new to the rest of us. It's a Rio Grande game called Traders Of Genoa. It's a game about manoeuvring around a marketplace to make deals and accomplish deliveries. The twist is that all players share control of one game piece that can only move around a fraction of the board at a time. People have to barter and convince each other to move the game piece to a place that is advantageous to both them and the person in control of it (control rotates through the players). It's really, REALLY good. The bartering was crazy, there are a bunch of different ways to get cash, and the cash is both your bartering tool and the only scoring mechanism. I had one friend who was focusing on acquiring privilege among the buildings in the market, netting him a tonne of points, while the rest of us were getting money in our own ways and working with him to screw the others. This was until it became obvious that he would quickly control the entire market if we didn't step it up, so we bought up the privilege that was left and used it as an emergency trump card when dealing with him for the rest of the game (Look, I really need you to go here. I'll give you a privilege for it.). EVERYTHING is tradeable, and everything is fluid. It's a fascinating game that really takes what a barter game can be about and astounded me with how tense it could make negotiations. I was super impressed. People should play this game.

I loved the game and bought the Pigsy stuff, but never played it. I should really go fire that up.

I finally bought my own copy of Puerto Rico yesterday after having loved it in high school and not playing since the friend who owned it moved away. Played a 3 player round tonight. Damn, that is an awesome game. Everyone should play it if they haven't. Also, I ordered a copy of Tammany Hall off of the internet and am excited for when it arrives and I can bring it to my weekly games night. Stoked for things!

Gah! I would totally join you if you weren't starting this the DAY that I go out of town for a week with my girlfriend for our anniversary. You will probably be finished by the time I get back. Bummer.

As for your concern about international things, so far I'm only bothered by the persistent American need to misspell cheque as "check". That is a stupid way to spell it, and factors into a solution.

I was also drinking along with you. Having the ability to fire up a stream so you can honestly say you don't drink alone is an amazing super power.

I'm missing about 20 of them. I'm also only really doing it for fun (because yay! Puzzles!) as the only game on the list I'd be interested in is Rogue Legacy and I'm reasonably confident someone else will get there first. Still, puzzles are awesome and this is a fantastic idea.

I woke up this morning with a notebook on my lap in which I had written the following. This is the note word for word, with things in square brackets being a description of who this person is rather than their name: So yeah. My dreams are stupid.

This past weekend was a music festival, and the next is my 6th anniversary with my partner, but other than those two weekends I should hopefully be able to work something out. My schedule is hell of messed up until two weeks from now, when I go into "prep for the school year" mode and can't work the coffee shop any more. That said, any games I'm available for I'd be in for, and I do have Second Encounter HD.

Yeah, this Shadowrun stream is great.

Man, I was coming in here to post a funny thing, but it no longer seems like the time. That really sucks for both of you. I hope it's not too serious with your cat, Subbes and Shammack. I'm a huge cat person myself (also dogs, but cats more) and having to figure out what to do with a sick pet is the worst. Not being able to get directly from them whether they're in pain and how much makes every decision feel shitty. Good luck to you both. And Lacabra, congrats on the game, but bummer about the relationship. I'm guessing the timing is due to he/she wanting to not distract you during crunch (assuming the split wasn't your idea), which is at least considerate of them, but doesn't make it feel any better. Now that you've shipped, I hope you have some time to get your shit together and recover. Raising a glass to all three of you tonight.

Mountain, so only an hour ahead of you guys. I was more worried about our European folks though.
-
Oh yeah, I was definitely not talking about tonight. Was just on the way out of the house myself. I'd like to play sometime though, so having a place where people can coordinate seemed good.
-
I would enjoy that, but realistically finding a time that works with all y'all's schedules would be difficult. If I can though, in.

I played and beat it on my Vita the week it came out. I can confirm it is a really good game. You should probably play it.

Well, I was waiting to see if it would go down on a daily deal or not, and it did not. As a result, I just purchased all the Rocksmith DLC I'd been looking at for a while as it is currently 35% off. I just bought $70 worth of songs for that game (6 packs, 19 individual songs). I've put about 35 hours into Rocksmith now and have been playing every day for several weeks. I have no intention of stopping, and really love the feeling that I get when I can walk away from the game and play the songs for real, so I hope that this will keep me going for quite some time. Ubisoft's assurances that the DLC will still work with 2014 this fall were the final push for me to say ok to dropping all this cash when the next one is due out soon. Still, can't help but feel weird that I spent more money this sale on songs for a guitar tutorial game than I did on any other games combined. Like, holy crap, that's a lot of DLC. Looking forward to spending the rest of the summer jamming on my guitar in my boxers.

That's a pretty good policy. I go with it too. Shaving? Who the hell cares. Everyone grows hair, whatever. Brushing your teeth/bathing? May want to draw the line. I expect nothing more of others than I do myself: a shower a day and keeping your teeth clean. Sometimes I'll make sure my hair is ok if I'm going somewhere special. The rest is all just kind of superfluous stuff that is fine if it makes you feel more attractive or whatever, but doesn't bother me one way or another. Even deodorant is optional. I go with a hippie brand that has all these "Doesn't test on animals" guarantees, and I'd honestly rather someone not use it at all than support a brand that causes harm in the name of cosmetics (animal testing in medicine I can live with and rationalize, for cosmetics it just seems needlessly cruel to me) so I don't judge someone if they skip that step. So yeah, either you may need to get over some hangups, or they need to work on getting over some bad hygiene habits. It really depends if that statement breaks down to "she has leg hair and EEEEEEEW!" or "Man, she hasn't bathed for a week. Is that normal?"

Congratulations. You've solved the game's most infamous puzzle through exactly the logical path that they wanted you to!

What a coincidence! This is the only forum I have used since 2005. It's a pretty good one.

Good news! The girl I'm going for a bike ride with on Sunday has to work at 2:30, so at the very latest, I'll be able to join in on the game an hour and half in, while still getting my fun day off bike ride in. Sunday is looking pretty swell.
-
Sunday MAY work for me this week. I'm not working, and the girlfriend is, so I have the afternoon off. I have made plans to go on a bike ride with a friend during this period, and whether or not that overlaps with 1pm-ish is currently unknown. Will either be there or out riding bikes. We shall see.

I don't think I've EVER had a game of Ticket go longer than an hour. What the hell are you doing?
-
You need to co-op that game. Preferably with someone else who hasn't experienced it before. I did this with Patters back when the game first launched and it is better than the single player. Buy someone else a copy if it means finding someone new to the game. Seriously. So good.

Well, there are CANADIANS. We don't count?
