  1. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Yeah. Weekdays are no longer viable for me to play with you European types. I'll be getting home from work every day around midnight GMT at the earliest. I may be able to swing Labour day this week (the 2nd) if things are happening then, but that would pretty much be it.
  2. Saints Row 4

I loved the shit out of this game. I finished it last night (the night before all my free time disappears!) with 99% completion. I'm missing exactly one challenge. The one for flying an alien vehicle a ridiculously long distance. I have less than 10% of the distance covered. Thinking about just getting in a ship, flying to the top of the map, and going back and forth on autopilot for a few hours while I play my 3DS or do some grading or something in order to rack up that last 1% just for the ability to say I did it. SR4 is awesome, particularly the rescue and loyalty missions. Great stuff. Loved pretty much every minute. ...Oh, and my playtime is about 26 hours for 99% for those who were wondering about game length. Also, I bought the season pass. I know that SR3's DLC wasn't hugely well received, but I liked it, so whatever.
  3. Nintendo 3DS

I have been considering throwing my 3DS in my bag when I leave the house for school in the morning, but am conflicted. Can I get a quick poll? Streetpassing your teacher: would it have made you think they're relatable or just weird?
  4. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Did it happen? I got home from work/school at 3:45 and had a quick look at Steam, but no one was playing.
  5. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

Mondays don't really work for me anymore now that school is underway, so as long as it's a Monday thing I'm unfortunately out for now.
  6. GTA V

What, really? I will likely not have a chance to play much of anything between now and the next calendar year. Is a few months really that big a deal? Are you really caught up on everything worth seeing that's come out for a while? Hell, even back in high school when I had all the time in the world to play things, I still waited for the PC versions of Vice City and San Andreas. It's really odd to me that a matter of months could be enough to make someone decide to play the game on a different system. Particularly, in my case, if it's a console/PC distinction. I would wait way longer to play the PC version just because I know that I personally would have more fun with it. I'll probably just marathon it next March break at school, as Rockstar likes to do their releases in March a lot of the time.
  7. GTA V

    Wait for the PC version.
  8. Sir, You Are Being Hunted

One of your buddies is a stereotypical French robot. He's also pretty awesome. The game is worth playing, as it actually tries to do some interesting things with it's narrative. The gameplay itself is an inoffensive Gears of War-alike, but the story is what you play it for. Not astonishing if you're into sci-fi morality stuff in general, but definitely not what I expected from a video game.
  9. Saturday Morning Streams

This was an excellent stream. I suggested it in the chat, but don't think it was seen. Please Thumbs, before GFWL shuts down and potentially renders Red Faction Guerilla unplayable, do a stream of it?
  10. PAX Prime 2013

So jealous. I sold my pass when I got hired as a teacher because PAX falls during the crazy "school is starting NOW" weekend. I was so close. So close...
  11. Let's Draw Video Games

Awesome! That blog is taking off fast!
  12. Sir, You Are Being Hunted

    You played Binary Domain, right?
  13. Saints Row 4

I think that saying that you did everything in 30 hours is a pretty good time investment though. I did the same in SR3 (not including the DLCs), and was amazed that I spent 30 hours in a game without getting bored. In the past 5 days, I've fully embraced that I'm on my last week of break before school starts by pumping 20 hours into the game. I'm at around 80% completion, but is that bad? Hell no. The fact that I've PLAYED this game for 20 hours and want to keep going is a huge anomaly in video games for me. The only other games that do this kind of thing have been RPGs, Just Cause 2, and the previous Saint's Row games. I'd like to 100% the game over labour day weekend, and the fact that I can is a plus for me, not a minus. It's not Skyrim, but do you really want it to be?
  14. Saints Row 4

They were saying that SR2 SPOILER FOR THE SENSITIVE Just a nod to the previous games. Nothing major. As someone who has been with the series since day one though, I'm appreciating these nods.
  15. Saints Row 4

Traversal is so much fun. I don't think I've ever had as good a time just getting around a world before. Just Cause 2 and Prototype were both close, but damn. I will forgive a lot if a game gives me good traversal, but SR4 doesn't even really have much to forgive on top of that. I've found that the ability to play the radio stations outside of cars (because you're in a computer anyway, so why not just play them in your head?) has made the traversal even better. I always start unintentionally timing my big leaps and glides to perfect moments in the music. So good.
  16. Saints Row 4

Runs better than 3 did on the same machine for me. Also, holy shit this is fun. They took Saint's Row, added the traversal from Prototype (the only thing that made Prototype really stand out) and the collection from Crackdown. I am SO in.
  17. Space Asshole? Probably dead forever. That will suck a lot, as I have been meaning to go back and play more of that for a long time.
  18. Nintendo 3DS

High five for Virtual Boy Mario Tennis! I did the exact same thing! And yeah, add me to the "3D is always on" crowd.
  19. The code was already cracked. You're just not looking hard enough.
  20. Nintendo 3DS

Yeah, that seems like the proper approach to AC to me. I haven't looked in at my town for a few days, but I trust everything is ok there. Next time I boot it up, my orchard will have bloomed and I can make a bit of cash towards expanding my house again. Meanwhile, I've got other stuff to occupy me when I have time to game. Pikmin and Rocksmith won't play themselves, and I have an upcoming school year to think about as well. AC is great fun when I want to kill 20 minutes. EDIT: This is also the main reason that AC is the only "full" game I've purchased from the eShop. It's nice to have it ready to go whenever while I still have a different game in the card slot.
  21. Nintendo 3DS

Is that a weird way of requesting a drawing?
  22. The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, the "rich family vacation" experience definitely makes this a more impactful read. My family was always in pretty dire financial straits through most of my life due to my father's very early death. When I was 18, my mum remarried to a guy who was pretty well off. That, combined with my sister and I now being independent, led to my family suddenly having a bunch of money and going on those vacations. Despite being on my own at that point, I was generously dragged along on a few. I'm not comfortable with that life at ALL, and find it intensely wasteful and frustrating to my own values. Having to sit along with everything and try not to offend while getting drunker and drunker the entire vacation in order to not offend people at the mountain golf resort or whatever that I was staying at has definitely given this sort of novel a significance for me that they wouldn't have had otherwise. ...and I realize it's a privileged and shitty kind of response to complain about being taken on resort vacations. The fact is though, that those people are not my people. At that time in my life, I was spending most of my free time in punk bars. Staying at those places just made me intensely aware of how much money was there instead of doing good, and kinda grossed me out despite my participation in it to please the family.
  23. I will have a big boy job in a week! When I start making big boy money to go along with it, I may ebay this thing that teenage me is still kind of pining for.
  24. I don't know if it was a 'cast thing or not, but back in the pre-cast days, Chris' Meteos addiction was the stuff of legend. If memory serves, at one point Jake described the early run of good DS games as "Chris' Meteos years" but that may be it.
