  1. Plug your shit

That logo is the best thing I have seen today.
  2. It's beginning to look a lot like...

Animal with a Santa hat, three years uninterrupted. I will maintain this avatar, because fuck all y'all.
  3. I Had A Random Thought...

I sent an email like that by accident exactly once. I was on my Vita and had to send an email to a professor ASAP. I did not have a smart phone, so that was my option. I sent a formal letter to my professor that unwittingly had the auto-signature "SENT FROM MY PLAYSTATION VITA" at the end. Thanks, Sony.
  4. I Had A Random Thought...

There's a Fatburger here in Calgary, but I've never been. I can't imagine anything coming close to The Works though. I went to the Ottawa one when visiting the city once and it was the best. We don't have those out West.
  5. New year's resolutions

Last year I resolved to not give up on guitar, having picked it back up again that summer. I have continued playing nearly every day (excluding days when I'm not at home) this year, and feel very proud of myself. This year, I just want to keep the momentum going and really get my career on track. That's not really a resolution so much as "fuck, I'm 26 now with two degrees, I need to stop working at coffee shops" though.
  6. Artist for hire

    Am I doing it right?
  7. I Had A Random Thought...

I always go with "they". I like it. Of course, I always used it in academic papers, so maybe it is too impersonal for more artistic forms of writing. Still, nothing wrong with "they" as the gender neutral pronoun.
  8. It's beginning to look a lot like...

I got a few cool books from my girlfriend, and will be seeing the family tomorrow for the big gift exchange with them. Good times. Also, my bottle of Christmas scotch is being thoroughly enjoyed as I type this.
  9. It's beginning to look a lot like...

It's weird to see all you people on your earlier times. 10 hours until Christmas!
  10. Red Dead Redemption

Y'know, I still haven't played that (Undead Nightmare) beyond the first couple of missions. I made the mistake of going in right after finishing RDR and burned out fast. I should go back soon.
  11. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

And now you can understand why Jake freaked out on the podcast when they received an email from Boston Lowe!
  12. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

HAHAHA. High five, I died once as well, the exact same way! The final boss fight almost got me. I used my fairy and had half a heart left when I took him down. Proper tense, that fight. Great game. I had an awesome time with it. Some of the dungeons were just flat-out amazing. Discovering the proper use of wallmasters made me so happy with the designers.
  13. I Had A Random Thought...

He'd work for TMZ or some shit.
  14. Idle Thumbs Accompaniment?

I have a 45 minute drive to work in the morning, and traffic usually turns that into an hour or so on the way home. That's my podcast time. Also, while doing the dishes or walking.
  15. The threat of Big Dog

"HALT. PRESENT IDENTIFICATION." "...oh, I didn't realize I'd have to sign for this." "YOU HAVE TEN SECONDS TO COMPLY." "One sec. I left my wallet on the desk." BLAM. "WE'RE SORRY WE MISSED YOU. YOUR PACKAGE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP AT YOUR LOCAL POST OFFICE AFTER 3PM TOMORROW." Your driver's name... was Ed.
  16. Just Thumbs 2

Man, winter break starts next week. I would absolutely be down for some JC2 multiplayer at some point.
  17. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

For the record, I would absolutely love it if this would happen on a weekend sometime again. As a dude with a Monday to Friday 8 - 5 job, Monday afternoons are bad news for me. I miss the chaos.
  18. Ghost Trick DS

I'm on chapter 5 on my DS, but then Zelda showed up. So now Zelda. Then back to Ghost Trick.
  19. Nintendo 3DS

I've done it twice. Works great!
  20. Nintendo 3DS

Working at a starbucks tomorrow. Gonna open my 3DS during all breaks to clear out the Mii updates, then collect more until my next break. Yay!
  21. Recently completed video games

I just wrapped up Wind Waker HD. It's still a super fun game, and the triforce hunt at the end only takes a couple of hours now that they've streamlined it. I did from the end of the wind temple up through the credits in a single sitting while my girlfriend was writing a paper for class next to me. Still such a great game, and actually improved by the tweaks Nintendo made to the update. Not worth buying a Wii U for, but if Pikmin 3 and Mario 3D World have convinced you that it's worth it (it is) you should pick this up as well and bask in its greatness.
  22. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I recently spent a week at my girlfriend's house, then two weeks at home, and am now house-sitting with her at her uncle's place to take care of his dog while he's out of town. I brought the Wii U with me to her place, and now have it with me at her uncle's. Both of those places, I plugged it into the TV for playing Wind Waker HD when I had some down time. Thing is, during the two weeks I was at home, Mario 3D World came out. I didn't want to plug the Wii U back in to my TV, because that would require moving this giant heavy thing so that I could play my console like 3 times during the two weeks that I had. So I did the sensible thing. I plugged the Wii U into the outlet next to my bedside table and, plugged in to nothing but the wall, played through 3D World up to the credits on the gamepad in my bed. It was awesome. Much credit to Nintendo for that. I wasn't even in the same room as my TV, and I beat (in the baby sense of "beat", I guess) the latest Mario game. Sweet.
  23. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I am playing a lot of Wind Waker HD right now. I'm on the Wind Dungeon now, so getting up to the end-game triforce hunt. Interested to see how that streamlining that Nintendo was talking about is implemented. So far I'm loving this game even more now than I did back in the day. It's just so good. I've also made it to the in Mario 3D World, and am completely baffled by how big this game is turning out to be. It is seriously interfering with me getting my report cards finished in a timely fashion. Good stuff.
  24. Twitter

On that note, my twitter account has devolved into where I post a pun that I made that I'm proud of. That is, if I haven't already forced said pun on my class (I made them play a game in science class today called "varia-ball" which included a lesson on control and manipulated variables).
  25. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

Related: I have students creating mathematics problems based on Minecraft in class. They love that shit. While not a parent, I work full time with children who love to talk games with me, so I may chip in on this thread every now and then with thoughts, but really probably will not have much to say.
