That is the fucking worst, Subbes and Shammack. Losing a pet is goddamn terrible, and from all I can tell Cabot is a great one. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts this week. You did so much for that cat, and he gave a great fight.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
miffy495 replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
What the hell? For those who don't know Canada, this happened in the town that is pretty much where our old people go to live out the last parts of their lives quietly. I love how much difficulty the cop has keeping a straight face. My parents live a few blocks from there, I should probably make sure their chips are secure. -
Are they selling recordable VHS tapes?

I have now completed this game. The choice at the end is indeed kinda dumb, as others have said, but overall I really loved this experience. So fun. Not much else I can say aside from good mechanics, pulpy story, and interesting narrative tricks. The way that each level changes in the telling is awesome. I have never before played a game that went into slow motion because the narrator needed a piss break. Very endearing.

In three months, I am moving. A place that will allow cats is completely necessary. Back when I still lived with my folks I had 3. I have not been allowed a pet since. It sucks. I want a cat again so bad, guys. Three months!

Is It Possible for Long-Form Games to Have Good Endgames?
miffy495 replied to Gormongous's topic in Video Gaming
Huh, it's interesting that so many people are frustrated by the endgame of Octodad. I was impressed by how much it relied on skills I'd learned by playing without being too difficult or seeming like a rehash of earlier stuff. -
I love Donkey Kong Country a bunch. 2 is one of my favourite games ever.

I've been playing this off and on for a week or so. Just finished chapter 5. I love how the story seems to be going more and more off the rails the more Silas drinks. I'd be playing it right now, but have work in the morning. Can't wait to jump back in.

Growing up being named Pete in the era of Goof Troop has turned me into a humourless monster regarding such things.

Hell and damn yes. Formula Thumb can be franchise-agnostic. I'd love to bring the occasional race back in a new form.

I got 6. In case the idle forums don't already have enough of them to burn for unlimited free energy.

The second last week of March is a school break, and us teachers have the week off, so I'll be in on the 24th (or whatever that Monday) is of March. Other than that, and Victoria Day I'm out until June 30th when I have my sweet, sweet summer vacation. That's how it goes when these things happen at 1 in the afternoon.

Grim Fandangolf? -
After finishing ACIII and all its DLC, I've been wanting to move on to IV, but worried that I'll instantly burn out on the game because of how recently I played III. The answer? Indie game sampler week! The last three days I've beaten Jazzpunk and Octodad, and was making a good run at Brothers when tonight's IT stream started and I decided to watch that. All good games, so far. Very much enjoying this week.

I played through it in three hours yesterday morning and loved it. That is all. -
What around would make a good patch for a boat? OBLIQUE SPOILER:

Absolutely this. Don't count on work to get you the friends. Sometimes you're lucky and find coworkers you get along really well with, but if you want to be creative with friends then you're far better off by having those friends and deciding how your strengths may combine with theirs. If you can't swing that, then just be careful that you're not LOSING friends because of work and make stuff with them in your spare time. If that stuff happens to be games while you do other things, that's awesome. Don't count on it being games though.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
miffy495 replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
Please tell me that I'll actually be able to buy that. -
Not sure if this is entirely the right place to talk about this, but right now I am wishing for a specific thing. Playing through the ACIII DLC, I am exploring around trying to get all the chests and be done with them. Many of them are lockpick chests that are guarded by a bunch of dudes. I have no difficulty at all with the AC combat at this point. I swear I must have killed at least 300 dudes doing this little run, and I would kill for the game to, after some preset number of kills, just give me an option to skip that shit. Once I have in some way proven my competency with your combat system, as long as combat is not the whole point of your game (it is definitely not the point of AC), please just say "We cool. Press back to auto-kill this group of dudes." All this combat just feels like it's wasting my time and sapping my enjoyment of what otherwise would be pretty fun. Man, fuck combat in that series.

Due to the stress of my job causing me to only sleep about three hours a night the last week, I too am having a bout with illness. Ran a pretty good fever yesterday, got home super early, slept for 12 hours. Still feel gross, but much better. I'll certainly be ready for work on Monday at least...
