Man, I wish I'd had more ammo in that helicopter chase. That was pretty fucking intense. I could only think while that was happening is that this was exactly what the designers had always hoped would happen with that mode, it only took like 6 years for it to occur.

Choosing to Choose, except it is you who have been Chosen, in this new BioWare game.

- I am totally prepared for more dialogue trees, thank you very much Bioware. - Dialogue trees? Can you please explain what that means... - I'm not sure I can commit to playing another big RPG right now, but maybe next summer. - [Punch through window] -
My girlfriend is fascinated by fanfiction stuff (and is currently working on a proposal for a thesis based around it) so I picked up a similar game for her. It's called Slash. The judge draws a character from popular culture, and the other players need to select another character from their hand to form a romantic pair with the judge's. In the boring normal game, the judge then just picks the funniest pair. In the real game for people who like to have fun, each proposed pairing must be accompanied by a synopsis of the romantic relationship between the player's proposed match and the judge's character, from how they met to their relationship's ultimate fate. Hilariously fun if you get the right group for it.

Pretty much every episode of Sam and Max from the start of season 1 to the end of season 3 is better than the one before it, with a couple of slight exceptions. Keep at the series. Season 3 was SO good.

Is that real? Because I just finished reading Margaret Atwood's Year Of The Flood, and I'm sure that's exactly how she described the larva of the Kudzu Moth, a species of plant parasite that had been genetically engineered to have chubby little baby faces on them so that gardeners wouldn't kill them.

The only thing that really put me off about that video was that the audio only worked in my right channel. Drove me nuts. Did that happen for anybody else, or did something specific fuck up for me? EDIT: Also, Tegan: In honour of your recent accomplishments:

It is this shirt: Those fucking Keep Calm shirts are everywhere here too ("here" being Canada, not America). They are the most tired and bullshit thing, but everyone still seems to think they're clever. Whatever, not for me to judge what other people wear, but I am tired of them.

French Canadians don't say "you're pulling my leg", they say "you're singing an apple through my nose."

Last week my friend and I had a waitress who was wearing one of those black and white Bill Murray shirts. This would have been unremarkable, as those shirts are common to the point that they're becoming irritating among a certain crowd, except that after she took our order and left my friend said to me "Does her shirt have a portrait of Neville Chamberlain on it?"

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

My stepfather has a prescription for medicinal marijuana. Whether or not this contributed to him introducing me to the Grateful Dead when I was around 16 has no conclusive evidence, but I feel that the two are related. That said, I very much enjoy their music. I've never been a person who has gotten into finding the best recording, tapes, etc, etc, but on the right kind of summer day, I like putting on the core albums and having them be just kind of on all day in the background. It's been that kind of summer so far, so yes. My vinyl of American Beauty and Workingman's Dead are two of my most played records (also, The Stooges' Raw Power, but that is for a different post) as vinyl just kind of feels right for how to listen to them. -
Game and Wario is good. I'm thinking about getting DKCR3D anyway, as I honestly really liked the Wii version and it's the only thing on the list I don't already have (wonder how I got platinum...). Wait, looking at the list, I suppose I could also get Dr. Luigi or Fluidity. Are either of those any good? I beat DKCR on Wii already, so replaying it is not really necessary, it just seemed like the best thing I could get on there that I'd care about.

Nah, when the summer is over I have to look like a teacher again, so I'll just be back to my natural brown. Dress code:

Number 6 really made me think! -
Yeah, but no. The whole thing came from wanting fun summer hair. My normal hair but green accomplished this, but a green mohawk also would and would save a good person some grief.

While I agree in general that Star Wars sucks, Twig, I'd still give KotOR a shot. For whatever reason, Star Wars has always appealed far more to me as a video game than as a movie. While the movies bore the hell out of me, I have a lot of affection for the Jedi Knight and KotOR series. They're actually just really good games.

Update! Today my boss suggested that I shave my hair into a mohawk. This is much more easily concealed under a cap, and therefor his boss would have nothing on him. I would also still get to have fun summer hair. I am seriously considering this proposition.

Yeah. I've only ever been in one serious relationship, but looking back across the seven years, I can certainly find instances of questionable consent. When we were teenagers, she was uncomfortable making her feelings clear, and I was too much of a typically-socialized teenage boy to realize what that discomfort meant until after the fact. There were certainly numerous times when we were very drunk as well, and some of the results were regrettable. These are not things that I'm proud of, but to deny that they happened would have resulted in my refusal to grow as a human being and realize that I was hurting someone I love. Instead, we talked about it, sorted our shit out, and grew our relationship. Now, this is a much easier feat to accomplish when you're in a relationship with someone and can talk openly about sexual things, but I'd hope that the majority of "person B"s (as anthonyRichard puts them) would be in a similar place if they were able to talk about it in this way. Who knows? The men involved in those encounters may have realized after the fact as well, we just rarely are asked to consider it as a serious thing. Unfortunately, as you said, Argobot, the general reaction seems to be the kind of thing that is only going to put Temkin on the defensive. I have no basis for saying that he is a guy who would reflect and change his behaviour if it were brought up to him in a different way, but I hope he is. I suspect that Temkin is guilty of doing something sketchy, that it would likely be categorized as person B behaviour rather than person A, and hope that he grows. I am not optimistic about this though, if he gets his back against the wall. As an aside, I must confess that I'm happy that I bought all my CAH sets before this surfaced so that I don't have to worry about wanting to buy them later and supporting worst-case-scenario Temkin.

Yeah, when I saw that Daniel Clowes did the cover for Shock Corridor I was incredibly happy. That is a great move.

Well yeah. Either you become friends or you don't. Two options. That's just math, right there. -

Given that I had very little difficulty with the rest of the game but spent an hour retrying that boss fight before I beat him, that may be the craziest thing I've heard this week.
