I don't really want to start a new thread again, so I'm going to post this here, but it is more in regards to Hot Coffee than anything else. Just thought you folks would like to know that 1up has a bunch of industry reactions to the whole thing, including one from Double Fine's own Anna Kipnis. You can find it here, although many of you have probably already read it. Whatever.

yeah, whichever. I think God of War got away from this one. Maybe it just doesn't have the sales numbers. That or it's not an entry in an established series that the media already didn't like.

I dunno what I'll do about longhorn. I ran 98 for two years after XP came out before finally upgrading, so I may do something similar. Come on, Microsoft. Wow me. I've got consoles to feed (not an X-Box though. I have my pride...) and I'll need a damn good reason to blow money on a new OS instead of just getting another game.

That is quite possibly the best thing ever.

Beloved Uwe Boll to start his next directing adventure in July
miffy495 replied to Kolzig's topic in Movies & Television
what the hell? Dammit, I just can't figure out how Boll attracts these actors to his movies. I always kind of liked Billy Zane, as in my mind "The Phantom" was the last truly great (read: cheesy and fun, like a real comic book) comic book movie, but somehow he was cast in Bloodrayne. I don't like him anymore. Now they've got John Rhys-Davies, whose voice I hear saying "Bad dates" whenever someone I know gets sick from any kind of food! As much as I hated LOTR, I still like Rhys-Davies, and this just makes me sick. Jokemaster, count me in on the killing. -
That and you have adorable fuzzy puppies in your avatar. Whatever. It's a good pic anyway. I do think it may be what made you the target though. edit: Don't change it. It works. I hope I got that across.

what'd they think of Orgazmo? I know that premiered at a convention and I'm not sure if they liked it. Still, I'm kind of encouraged about the doom movie now, especially after replaying Doom III and deciding that it wasn't THAT bad. Bad gameplay, but a great atmosphere. Thus, remove the gameplay and the results may be OK.

very nice, man. I deeply approve.

just wondering about this Murgh guy and why he's got it in for gamers.

Why is your name the Indian word for Chicken? In addition, fuck off.

Damn that shit looks cool. Sorry, I would have commented earlier, but I was out of the province over the last week, and thus without internet access. Don't worry, Nick. We all still love you.

OK, just played with hot coffee. That was it? That's what all this shit has been about? I'm thoroughly dissappointed...
-
Y'know what? To hell with it. Thus far, I haven't cared about Hot Coffee, but I'm off to download it just to see what all the fucking fuss is about. Oh, and Clinton, I'm 17, so go cry your fuckin eyes out over my delinquency. This install is for you, you nazi bitch. Please note: The above probably sounds more mean-spirited than it actually is. Except for the part about hating Clinton. A-yup.

Tabacco, I applaud your taste in TV. I happen to own every set that you mentioned below and love all of them to death. Another one worth picking up is the live action version of Ben Edlund's "The Tick." It only lasted 13 episodes, at a half hour each, but was very well done. Look into it first, because it's really a love it or hate it thing, but Patrick Warburton makes a fantastic obliviously naiive superhero and the rest of the casting is pretty spot on as well. More a "Sitcom-starring-superheros" than anything else, but good. Also, if anyone is into the documentary-series style of show but (like me) absolutely hates Michael Moore, Penn and Teller have a show on Showtime called "Bullshit!" that has two DVD sets out. Good stuff, good stuff.

Just got Meteos... *tap tap tap* haven't posted for a while as a result... *tap tap tap* can't... look... away! *tap tap FAIL* Damn! Oh well, this provides me with the momentary respite from the constantly falling blocks to tell you all how fucking AMAZING this game is. If you have a DS and do not have Meteos, buy it now, or I will be forced to bill you for airfare from Calgary to where-ever you live so that I may personally slap you. This game had more variety than any other puzzler I've ever seen. Not only does each planet have a different skin for the elements, but it has it's own gravity and atmospheric conditions as well. Frequency of different meteos is changed depending on the environment of said planet as well. There are 32 planets. Each one plays differently. If you get bored of the game, all you need to do is switch your homeworld and you'll be right back to the awesome. Gameplay itself revolves around stringing together groups of 3 rocks (meteos) that fall from the sky individually and at random. You can slide the blocks to anywhere in their vertical columns, but never horizontally. The groups of three, however, can be horizontal or vertical. It gets challenging and mind-boggling quite fast. A typical round for me lasts between 2:50 and 3:10. Always. I think maybe twice I've made it over three and a half minutes, but that was really hard. Of course, this is on the "deluge" mode, where you can't set your difficulty. On "simple" you can set the game to easy mode. This usually lasts me around 10 minutes, but isn't as fun for some reason. Now, the music. To be honest, half of the time that I've played this, I've been in public (the bus, slow shift at work [shhh! don't tell the boss!], or other) and have had the DS muted, but I always play at full volume when I'm on my own. Each world comes with its very own looping beat in the background. The rest of the music is generated based on how you play. Stack up a vertical column of meteos? Well, you get a certain little audio response. Horizontal? Different response. Re-boost in mid-air? Yet another sound. I'd say there are about 6 of these responses per planet, and each one mixes seamlessly with the background beat to provide you with a completely different song every time you play. When you get into some speedy play and stuff really starts going fast, you feel almost like a DJ. The story isn't really worth mentioning except for the fact that Q? actually managed to work ANY kind of story into a puzzle game. The evil planet Meteo (natch) is lauching the meteos at every other planet in the galaxy in order to wipe them out. You must take control of a group of aliens and travel from planet to planet lauching the meteos at Meteo until you finally work your way to Meteo itself and defeat it. This takes about 10 minutes. Then again, you're not playing this game for its compelling narrative, are you? The final thing I have to mention is the unlock system. See, the game automatically logs EVERY SINGLE METEO that you've launched into space. there are 12 kinds of meteo (2 of which, Soul and Time, are EXTREMELY rare) and as you amass these rocks, you can fuse them together to create weapons, the rare soul and time meteos, the beat loops and music from various planets, and ENTIRE BLOODY PLANETS. You only have one planet at the beginning of the game, but the more you play the more meteos you have. With these, the options will start appearing to build the planet of your choice. Meteo itself can be built, but that takes one hell of a lot of rocks. Still, in the category of unlockables, Q? gets a lot of points for innovation and style. I really hope you haven't read this whole thing. I really just need a place to rant about the awesome that is Meteos. If you live in North America and have a DS, for the love of Atheism, just buy this game. If you don't, well, I guess I have to taunt you until you import. *poke* Have you imported yet? *poke* Have you imported yet? *poke* Have you imported yet?

fucking Clintons mess everything up...

Personally, I used the M4. Besides that, I didn't bother getting more than 2 territories the first time I was in LS because I've discovered a pattern in GTA. If you have a 3 or more places that you can visit, odds are that the first "chapter" will end with you being run out of the first area either for good or for a while. I thought to myself "Why would I go for every territory now when I'll just lose it all soon anyway?" This paid off imensely for me as now that I'm at endgame, I have taken over all but 3 territories (Balla ones right up by Vinewood. Can't be bothered to make the journey there at the moment...) and still actually enjoy the gang wars. One of the most satisfying moments in that game for me so far has come when I ran the last of the Vagos out of LS for good. I hadn't even taken a single Balla territory yet, I was working methodically. The last Vago died and I was filled with a great sense of accomplishment. Something along the lines of "One down, one to go."

C'mon, everybody! We can beat the gnomes! Thanks mostly to this thread, I'm going to spend the remainder of this weekend tearing apart my basement for the Game Gear. We can do it! As for games, there were only 2 of them. I had Sonic 2 and some Bugs Bunny game that I'd played to death and could still probably beat in under a half hour if the opportunity arose. The bitch of the situation is, I remember unpacking the damn thing, but where I put it wasn't important to me at the time and now it's gone. *sigh* Sonic...
-
Chris, I honestly can't tell whether you're being sarcastic or not...

I think that was the first time that I've ever enjoyed something with Andy Dick in it. That was awesome. I shall begin the dispensing of Jazz Snaps in appreciation. *snaps fingers several times* ....solid.

Where was that image scanned from? The "65" at the bottom of the page made me think that it was a review for a minute, but I don't think that'd be too likely. Where did you find that stuff, man?
-
Y'know, I've actually considered getting a PS2 just for this game. As it turns out, someone I know will be moving soon and not taking their unit with them, allowing me to get it on the cheap. If this event transpires, KD will no doubt be my first (and likely only) purchase for the system. I WANT TO ROLL, GODDAMMIT!
-
yeah... that would probabky be for the best.... *shudder*

Well, I have a real reason for not knowing where my Game Gear is. See, last time I played it, I was about 10 years old, then we moved. I remember unpacking it, but it's been a good 7 years since I even thought about actually playing it, so its found its way somewhere unknown to me. In a month or so, I'll be packing up to leave for Uni, so maybe it'll turn up then. I guess we'll see, eh?
