  1. Rockstar Games presents: Bully

Maybe because, from the screenshots and description, it's just going to be a version of GTA with all the cool sucked out of it and replacing your character depth/intriguing crime story with a sociopathic 12 year old kid giving swirlies to other, less violent kids. Unless it gets some great reviews, I'll pass.
  2. Holy Crap!!!

    ummmm... what?
  3. DS multiplayer gaming

Yeah, hopefully someone'll find a way to tunnel or something. It's still really the only DS option for an FPS (Goldeneye is shit, and therefore doesn't count) and I would appreciate the chance for some intercontinental DS fraggage. It's a shame since the system is the best suited control-wise aside from the PC.Chris\
  4. Somebody justify Beyond Good & Evil to me

You seem to be focusing a bit much on just how silly the set up is. And yeah, it is kind of a stupid and random thing, but I found that to be a part of the charm. It's kind of like in the Simpsons where the town is alternatively next to a mountain, on the ocean, in the middle of the wilderness, or wherever that week's story requires that they be. Just let the inconsistencies slide and let yourself get sucked into the world and it's a lot more fun. Personally, I found that the action got quite repetetive, and the story was kind of cookie-cutter-ish. What kept me involved and loving the game were the characters. Any boring rehash of the same story can be made great if you have fascinating, well rounded characters, and that was what made the game good for me. It's a very outlandish game, and quite love-it-or-hate-it. If you couldn't get into it, that's fine. But I'd say that the majority of thumbs are very much niche gamers, and BG&E is very much a niche game. There ya have it.
  5. Please to recommend things?

OK, I just aqquired a used PS2 along with a copy of GT3: A-Spec. Of course, I rushed out to find Katamari Damacy, and Ico was $15, so I picked that up as well. I won't be able to buy anything other than food until my next paycheque now, but when that arrives, what else do people recommend for this new black box on top of my TV? I am uninitiated in the world of Sony gaming, and any veterans with advice would be appreciated.
  6. Holy Crap!!!

And I... I shall be known as Dave. But I won't get a new account, so it will be unofficial. Everyonce in a while though, it'll seem like I'm not myself. This will be because I am Dave. When I am Dave, you will know me by the magical oragami robot that sits on my shoulder and constantly whispers sweet nothings into my ear. When I am Miffy, I... Oh, screw it. This is too much work. Only one identity for poor little me.
  7. Seen any good movies lately?

"Me and You and Everyone etc." opened at the theater I work at last night. I'll have to check it out now. Thanks for the heads up!

I've had the joy of the PSP stick. It is kind of balls, isn't it? still, the D-pad isn't much better. Did you try Darkstalkers? It's near fuckin impossible to press two directions at once. I'd say you've got about a 1/5 chance of doing it even if you're taking great care about it. This of course makes combos incredibly rare...
  9. Dad 'n Me

Shit, that's nice. Sweet game, too. I just love Paladin's artwork so goddamn much. Very nice spot, man. You are awarded 10 awesome points. These points are arbitrary, and in no way recorded by me, but you get them nonetheless. Enjoy!
  10. DS multiplayer gaming

Yeah, I've got hunters (Canada is in North America too, eh?). Again though, no one to play with. Come on, online! We're all waiting for ya!
  11. Favorite developer logo intro seq.

That's just what they want you to think... They're really made mostly of Nougat, with only a small quantity of innovation to keep you guessing.
  12. The Sad, Agonizing Tale of Bhuvan Ganguly

I just hate to see you two fighting. It brings back bad memories.... *eyes glaze over in a flashback...* Mommy? MOMMY? NOOOOOOOOoooooooo......!!!!!!! *back to normal* Ahem. Sorry about that. [edit] It may be the most irrelevant thing ever, but it's still my hundredth post! Hurray! [/edit]
  13. The Sad, Agonizing Tale of Bhuvan Ganguly

maybe? [edit] Ok, yeah. That was pretty sweet. Soon multiplayer goodness shall be mine! [/edit]
  14. Holy Crap!!!

yeah, me too. What do I need to bring for maximum asplosion?
  15. Airplane

Sounds good. Pilots always say something along the lines of "We have reached our cruising altitude of 32000 feet." I made that number up, but it sounded right when I said it, so I think it's around there. Of course, 26000 feet also sounded good, so make of that what you will.
  16. Morning surprise

Dunno, but I'm now going to wear one of those things the next time I go to a buddy's house. I hope it's Russell. I haven't seen him in about a month and he'd probably have a heart attack...
  17. Current status of your thumbs

my right thumb is sore from about 3 hours of Burnout 3. (Hey, 30 gold medals in a day! Huzzah!) my left thumb just operates the control stick, and is happy with it's steering proficiency.
  18. company outlook

His post regarding the Hot Coffee mod said that his friend was 15, so I assume he is a similar age. Anyway, yes. DICE created the Battlefield series (which I actually hate, but whatever.) and EA is taking over the world, but I'd think that his question still stands. With that in mind, I'd say that my favorite developer would be something like the Behemoth (Alien Hominid, although you all know this by now) or Intelligent Systems (The Paper Marios, Fire Emblems, Advance Wars, Super Metroid, etc). As for publishers, it'll probably sound like a cop out, but it's true. Nintendo is the best one. Despite the fact that they only publish for themselves, the games are consistantly of a high quality. I'd say about 15 great games for each crap game. Plus, they actually do try to encourage a decent amount of creativity from their developers. Good stuff. That's it for me. I'm gone.
  19. DS multiplayer gaming

I tried Mario 64's multiplayer once. It's pretty much a bizzare capture the flag game where everyone is Yoshi but can transform by finding a hat (as in the game). It was kinda fun, but then the other player decided that he didn't think the DS would do well, and sold his machine. He was the only other person I knew with a DS, so I haven't had a chance to play multi since. I need to find more people with one of these gizmos... Or, y'know, eventually just race fellow thumbs in Mario Kart once it finally goes online. Whichever.
  20. Please to recommend things?

Yeah, and for multiplatform releases, I would agree with you about the PC being the better choice. With notable exceptions of course (Ugh. Nightfire...) The sad truth is though that not everything is multiplatform, and if you've got the opportunity to pick up a system for a quater of the retail price, you jump on it. I have to say though, I may have been spoiled by the Wavebird, but after a day or two with the PS2 controller, my thumbs hurt. I think it's that you need to press the X button with your knuckle if you're going to do multiple presses, while the other systems just need you to roll your thumb and not force it. Oh well...
  21. pci express

thanks for the help, Ysbreaker! Much appreciation.
  22. The Decline of Video Gaming

Just watched all four of them. Not bad, not bad. Better than most amateur flash stuff at any rate. 3 and a half stars out of 5. Good, not spectacular.
  23. Happy Birthday MetalMickey!

Sorry. My net was down for the last day and a half, and I'm just now getting to posting. Happy birthday to both. Sorry I missed ya. Much love for all thumbs.
  24. Holy Crap!!!

He's like Santa. Each night he'll fly to a random house on a sled pulled by animal Video game mascots (Sonic, Yoshi, Spyro, etc) and post on your account. If you're good, he'll make nice, well informed comments. If you're bad, he'll start a flame war and take pictures of your drunken unconscious body for later blackmail use. He'll also put coal... places... I unfortunately am me as well. Noone else can lay claim to my awesome, nor to my shittyfulness, depending on the day. Right now it's awesome though. Yup.
  25. Favorite developer logo intro seq.

That was a nice touch. Shows the game loves you, y'know? Still, I always kind of thought that THAT lionhead logo was more of a loading screen than an intro. Didn't they have a separate intro as well? It's been years since I played the game...
