  1. Serenity/Firefly

Murder: Like Lays, but makes its own dip.
  2. Old School Mario

Yay! The complete Zelda DVD is coming out soon, it's only a matter of time before Mario arrives as well. Excuuuuuuse me, Princess!
  3. Oooh! This one fights back!
  4. IRC Chat with Tetsuya Mizuguchi: Logged.

God I love Japan. I have no idea what broke their culture so far off of the western norm, but we desperately need it over here. I've always used "Well, they ARE the only culture that's been hit with a nuclear bomb..." as a jokey way of explaining the differences to myself, but whatever it is that makes the creativity and wackiness flow, import it now. As sweet as Meteos is, the DS's screens look like hell in natural light, so I've found myself playing Lumines a lot more on the train and such. Such awesome games. Also, YES! Remake Rez! At this point, it seems like it'll be the only way I can get my hands on it!
  5. Super Monkey Ball & Spyro for DS

Yeah, those are some damn pretty screens there. Monkey ball DS should be worth a shot, as the series has easily been one of my favorites for the cube. C'mon, the magical spell is Ei Ei Poo! Who can't love that? Have they released any details on how this is going to be done yet? Is it more GCN controls or Pac-n-Roll? Personally, I don't think Monkey Ball will have achieved its pinacle until someone makes a version with the GBA tilt cartridge style controls, but the touch screen has some potential.
  6. Need some advices on game creations.

I don't know if pretty is what's necessary, but a defined art style always helps to draw me in. Look at a game like N, where everything is done using stick people. The game isn't pretty in a conventional sense, but has it's own flow and style simply because of the minimalist artistic direction that was used. As for gameplay, I like the direction that you seemed to establish by mentioning that game Sokoban. A crasy-addictive genre you've set yourself in, and I wish you luck. I guess it could be argued that a unique visual presentation is a result of artistry, but the impression I got from your post was that you meant artistic skills in the "I can draw" sense and not in the "I'm creative" sense. If you're going to be designing a game and its levels, then you're probably already pretty creative and could come up with something moderately original. If a game's visual stand out, for whatever reason (The PDA games in Alien Hominid are another example) then I'm usually more inclined to give a game a shot.
  7. Strategy to Go

Man, howcome everyone knows relic for Dawn of War, but noone seems to remember the infinitely superior Homeworld. *sigh* Yeah, Advance wars kicks ass, which is odd for me as its the only turn-based strategy I've ever been able to enjoy. Now I'm trying to track down the GBA originals, which is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Stupid used games rack at my EB being full of nothing but games that I own or games that suck. Now that I'm hooked, what can be reccommended that's in a similar vein? Any ideas?
  8. pretty html flower things...

    that's just really damn sweet...
  9. Seen any good movies lately?

Yeah, Layer Cake was sweet. As for "The Grudge," I hate to sound like a pretentious movie-snob, but the Japanese original was better. "Ju-On." Check it out, if you get the chance. Great little movie, and same director as "Ringu," so it really does kick a lot of ass. Finally got around to seeing "Me and You and Everyone We Know" last weekend as well, and if you haven't already seen it, check it out. It's one of those movies where you walk out of the theater feeling really happy but you don't quite know why.
  10. Bush nominated Roberts for Chief Justice.

Ok. so wait... Wasn't John Roberts already replacing somebody? Who's replacing Roberts now? (I use the bomb in the absence of an actual head exploding from confusion.)
  11. Further 360 hilarity ensues...

fine, I'll bitch about the games if you want. Perfect Dark is nothing more than a rehash of what was great in 2000, but will seem like not much today. Kameo was originally intended to be a GCN game before MS bought Rare, so I'm jaded with regards to it. All the other big games that I'm even mildly interested in are also getting big PC releases, making it seem like MS is just trying to say "Hey look! we can finally look as good as a high-end PC again! Everyone ignore the fact that six months from now, PCs will be back to kicking our asses and buy one for our launch window prettiness!" Oh yeah, and the marketing campaign is so bad it gave me cancer. Of the eyes.
  12. PSP in Europe

Yeah, the PSP keeps on having a pretty good launch week, then people realize there are maybe two good games for it (4 if you like racing games, which I unfortunately don't) and the frenzy dies down. Maybe GTA will change that, I know that's the main reason I got mine, but really, thre's just not enough to justify it's existence right now.
  13. Happy birthday Trep and me

Happy birthday to all three of you. Damn, I take off for the weekend, and when I get back, everyone's older.
  14. Chief Justice Rehnquist dies at 80

No shit. I gotta get in on this whold "God" thing.
  15. I'm a soldier who lost a leg in Iraq.

Goddamn spamming hippies. My impression of this forum is that US residents are in the minority here, so what the hell are they trying to accomplish?
  16. A thousand words.

Damn, that was so much more enjoyable than the latest Harry Potter, and much less time consuming, too!
  17. Further 360 hilarity ensues...

Ummm... aren't consoles always switched on wirelessly? I'm pretty sure the button on my gamecube doesn't require that I plug something into it...
  18. Game Boy Micro? Why?

As has been mentioned by a few people, the second front in Advance Wars and vertical goodness in Sonic Rush (and to a lesser extent, Yoshi's touch & go) are great. Also, the new Mario & Luigi RPG game will have the adult Bros on the top screen, controlled with X and Y, and the baby Bros on the bottom, controlled with A and B. Or vice verse. Not really sure yet, but you get the idea. The problem I've had with the DS so far is that games will either use the touch screen really well, or use the second screen really well. Nothing has done both yet.
  19. PSP in Europe

Yeah, I got a huge scratch on my screen playing Warioware and have used the protectors since. Problem is, the games all feel a lot better without the protector, except for that one vertical line that the stylus gets caught on when you try to drag horizontally. The protector removes this problem, but does go bad quite quick.
  20. Games you ignore (licenses, kid's games).

hey, who dares ignore Carmen Sandiego? That was one of my favorite games back in the day. Mind you, I haven't played it for many a year, but fond memories arise at that name.
  21. Alternative games?

Oh christ, I remembered reading a preview for that. If I recall correctly, it was ported to Dreamcast, but required a special keyboard peripheral.
  22. Game Boy Micro? Why?

I must have fucking HUGE pockets. I keep my DS, keys, and cell phone in the same pocket with no problems. I can also cram a PSP into my pocket with little difficulty (in it's case no less, something that pretty should not go unprotected). Sure, you can see a bit of a square outline there, but it's really no worse than a wallet. Also, if need be, I have a snazzy leather case that hooks onto a belt loop that's great for the DS if I don't want it in my pants. I have never had a problem with the portability of any of the systems on the market. Also, Jake, why are you taking a shot at the people who bought the SP? I have an SP, but never had a standard GBA. When it came time to buy, I went with the smaller/brighter choice. What's wrong with that?
  23. First Bad Day L.A. trailer released

That's it, I have to play this game.
  24. PSP in Europe

I also have both. I got the DS as a Christmas present (well, ok, combined birthday/christmas from 2 people, but still awesome) and bought the PSP when the price dropped $50 in preparation for the new GTA. So far, I've worn through at least one DS screen protector a month and my current addiction, moreso than any PC or console game that I have, is Advance Wars. As for the PSP, well, I got the highest possible score on Lumines. Then I played an emulated copy of Earthbound. Then I stopped caring. Still waiting on that GTA, so the DS kicks the PSP's ass in every respect at the moment.
