Fair nuff. That pretty much limits me to cockroaches, as it's been two days and Nook still hasn't had a shovel in stock. Still, I got Benedict to use "SPOON!" as his new catch phrase, so it's all worth it.

What's the deal with Microsoft's "Project Origami"?
miffy495 replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
It looks like a damn brick. The GCN was the smallest console, the PS2 was a decent size, and the XBox was damn huge. Now, look at the handhelds from the company. The DS can fit into a pocket if you try. The PSP is bigger, but you don't feel bad throwing it in your backpack. This thing will be used primarily by the 13 year olds who play Halo online with it to bludgeon puppies when they aren't "pwning n00bz." God, it's like the 360 had an abortion and they slapped a screen on the front and called it done. Sorry 'bout that. Can you tell I don't like the looks of this? By the way, any MS reps, feel free to put '"LIKE THE 360 HAD AN ABORTION!!!" - Miffy495' on the box in big letters. I dare you. -
It's just an EB. Until I read this thread, I figured that was standard. I guess I just have one more reason to love my EB now.

Yeah, Copper is the one you want to talk to. I set it up so I could go online, but have nowhere to go, but at least I can do it now. I can't figure out if I'm supposed to do something special to make bugs appear when I want to catch them, but I'm fishing a hell of a lot. The aquarium in the museum is getting a ton of winter fish from me, and I've almost got my first mortgage paid off. On that subject: Thanks. Now you've totally ruined my "18 and just embarking on life" naïveté. I hope you feel really good about yourself. Meh, I figured there'd be more to pay off. As long as Nook doesn't start bustin' my kneecaps or anything if I'm late with a payment, I'll get by.

Does that mean that you got to play "A Dog's Life?" I keep on seeing it at the RadioShack, as they never seem to sell any of their games to anyone but me on the occasions when I browse there, and wondering whether or not it's worth the $30. Any tips on that one? Also, ye scurvy sea dog. Avast. Garrr, and such. Aw to hell with it. I'm no good at pirating...

Well, that and the fact that there were something like 20 mario games this generation. No franchise with only a few installments, even a GTA or a Halo, will be able to seriously compete with that.

I just picked it up on my way to work tonight. So far I only have 4 other citizens in my town, and I think the wolf may be preparing to eat the rooster. Also, I only seem to be able to get cherries so far. How do I get access to other fruits? Still, what I've seen I like, and I'm looking forward to finally paying off that bastard Nook so that I can get on with my life. I'm fishin and diggin and lookin for bugs and stuff. All in all, lotsa awesome. My original assumption was correct. Harvest Moon + a whole lotta acid.

That and crap like Mario Party. What the hell were they thinking?

THANK YOU RODI. That always irks me a bit. I try to hide my pedant nature, but it sneaks through. Oh god does it sneak through.

Aha. Well, thank you. Here is the finished smiley then.

Here is my smiley in honour of Don Knotts, using the picture from the RIP thread. ...apparently I couln't get the transparency to work out. Can anyone give me a tip for this? I didn't want to upload the .psd, but the .jpg doesn't seem to like transparent backgrounds.

Is it in the contest already? If it isn't, I'll get on that pretty quick. That photo's as good as any.

I really need to get my hands on this crap. Sound like harvest moon took a few tabs and let loose.

Started my first year of University, turned the age of majority in my province, (really, the last few months have just been a drunken write-off) also started to learn Japanese, although my doing so is in a University course, and played a hell of a lot of my DS, as it's pretty much all I can do on the train to work/school. All in all, a good few months, though I've become far busier than I'd ever want to be. I think today is my second or third full day off since September.

All the games in the store I go to are always just arranged in alphabetical order for each system. Seems logical, so I don't mess with it.

During the off-season, I went on something of a "I'ma find all those artsy games that I missed out on back when I only cared about shooters and get 'em for real cheap!" binge. This resulted in much crazy playing of: - Rez (Not cheap, but worth it :tup:x4) - Ikaruga (Fastest eBay delivery EVER! ) - Gitaroo Man (let's hear it for crazy! :tup:x2) - Frequency (kinda hypnotic, but not as good as the above ) - Panzer Dragoon Orta (just... damn. :tup:x2) - Jet Set Radio Future (wheeeee! ) I also got my first credit card, which allowed me to import: - Ossu! Tatake! Ouendan (genius. :tup:x3) On the North American releases front, there was: - Guitar Hero (ROCK! :tup:x3) - Shadow of the Colossus (utterly stunning :tup:x2) - The Rub Rabbits (yay! ) - Chibi-Robo (soooooo cute! ) Also, there was a bunch of stuff for the DS, but I've said enough. Needless to say, the forums were gone for far too long. Welcome back!

Why do I get the feeling I'd need my own lamp to know what the hell is going on? Oh Sonic, you and your drugs... *Coughbadpun*SPEED*cough*

Hmmm... The DVD set says that Inara was originally supposed to be played by Rebecca Gayheart. I only know her as Betty on Dead Like Me, and really can't picture her as the serious "companion" type. Still, you gotta wonder how much that could have affected the show...

I've heard that, as gaming laptops go, the Dell X2 series is pretty good and has a decent battery life. How often will you have this sucker plugged in, anyway?

The internet is full of weirdos... apparently, I'm one of them

Holy shit that's awesome. Reminds me of some conversations a friend of mine used to send me every now and then. See, she was unlucky enough to be Chinese and have the last name "Ho." Plenty of funny conversations ensue when you're in such a situation. That thing with the dog there forced me to take a break so I could breathe again. Thanks for putting that up, man. Made my day. -
My main concern with the new generation of consoles is that they are now too close to the PC. There's not really a whole lot to distinguish them anymore. It's a PC that hooks up to your TV and uses a different input method. Whoopee. Consoles used to have things that noone else had. Light guns were a big draw for me. Analogue control was a gift from above. Split-screen multiplay lent itself to a communal atmosphere where a group of friends could just gather 'round the TV with a bowl of chips and have a good time. Now, the main multiplay component of consoles has become online. Noone is making anything for light guns anymore, and if a PC game would play better with analouge, you just buy a USB adapter for your controller. Consoles should offer a unique experience that you just can't get on a PC. I don't see this happening with the current generation, so yes, I'm down on it. I am mildly excited for the revolution, but I'm too cautious to begin singing its praises before we've seen the controller.

Well, compared to the Sonic Adventure series, Sonic Heroes was much better at conveying a sense of speed. The game was kind of crappy, but the essential sensation of the series was starting to make a comeback. If this new game furthers this trend, I'm all for it.

Didn't DIC also make the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon?

Yeah, the last Fox interactive game I can remember was NOLF, which totally deserved any 9.xs that it got. Of course, maybe I only remember that it was Fox because I was surprised that they made a good game. There could easily have been stuff later that was complete shit that I ignored. Still, I think it can be agreed that the world needs less Murdoch.

yeah, Civ 4 really doesn't seem like too much. As someone who could never get into the original games in the series, there isn't a whole lot there to entice me to pick this new one up. Same boring gameplay (no offence, rabid Civ fans) new boring graphics. Whoopee.
