I second that cry of HOT SHIT. Also, Moos, didn't you have the same problem with Half Life? Did you try that processor thing that the thread suggested?

No idea. That was the last number I'd heard, but I'm not following it too closely. If it really is $400, then I'm a bit more likely to get one. I'll still probably wait until after at least the first price drop though.

It would be nice to have the option. I'm not sure how large the radius in Rayman was. I didn't buy it, but I do remember previews talking about how it would fix that problem everyone had with M64DS's controls by making the movement disc-thing stationary. Then all the reviews said that on second thought, they liked Mario's better. Can't compare them myself though. From how you described Hunters (double-tap to jump, etc) it sounded just like how the First Hunt demo controlled. I'm not sure about the looks, but I don't think the controls have been changed much if at all. I hope not, at any rate, as I found the demo to feel quite natural. I didn't even have to look anything up. There was a moment of "hmmm... how do I jump? Maybe if I use the screen as a button..." and that was the first day I had the system.

Well, you are in the yo-yo topic. You're in games discussion in other threads, right? And yeah, yo-yo balls, if I remember correctly, are little plastic balls that have a self retracting string in them so that they require absolutely no skill at all. But the glow in the dark! I was suckered into them when I was 6, then got a real yo-yo and actually learned a bit of stuff. Never bothered to get that good with it, but I'm at least competent with the little fuckers. Also, when I was 10, I found my old yo-yo ball. My fingers were already too big for it. I don't think anyone over the age of 8 is intended to be using them.

I'm really going to be concentrating on the Wii, but I wouldn't mind seeing what Sony has to offer for the PS3. Much as I love the series, I'm not going to drop the cash for a (predicted) $700 console just to play MGS4, so they'd better start wooing me, ASAP. Othewise I'll just do what I did this generation. Stick with Ninty all the way along, then during the last year pick up the other two dirt cheap and start digging into an entire generation's worth of stuff I missed. So yeah. I'm kinda excited about the PS3, but more for potential than for anything I've seen so far.

Yeah, I really liked how the demo of Hunters played back in the day. I should try and dig up that cart so I can give it a try on the Lite. I really didn't have a problem with the touchscreen movement in Mario 64. It took a little while to get the hang of, but once I was a few hours in it felt incredibly natural to me. I think they tried that fixed-centre thing with the Rayman 2 port and the general consensus was that the controls in Mario worked better. Worth buying? I got it back when there were 2 things worth playing on the DS. Mario and Feel The Magic. The clincher for me was that I never owned the original Mario 64 (I know, I know...) so the game was mostly new to me. I'd played up to the first encounter with Bowser before when a friend lent me his copy, but that's as far as I'd gotten. In that context, Mario 64DS fucking rocked. If you've played the original, it really depends how much you want to try out the new characters and the 30 new stars. If you're hardcore obsessive about it, you may enjoy it. If not, either wait for New SMB for your Mario fix or try to find it used and cheap. I doubt it would be worth full price for you, but it's still a fun little game.

Damn, you mean I may need to get the PC version now? I already bought the damn thing on PS2, but if mods are in order, I kinda want to try them out. Also, co-op on the PC is kind of suck. You need to have 2 gamepads for it to really work, and short or calling up a buddy and saying "bring your gamepad over" there aren't a whole lot of options for that.

Fucking crazy man. How long have you been doing that competitively?

I'll be watching and laughing, in all likelyhood. If there's anything more than a one-time joke to be had in there, well that has yet to be seen. Still, that one time joke may be pretty damn good.

It was only a couple of months ago that I first discovered the original Gitaroo (well, OK. I'd known about it before, but didn't have a PS2, and then had to wait until I had a credit card and could ebay it...) so the whole thing is still fresh for me. Love it love it love it love it. Got my PSP last summer for Lumines, so I'm all set. I wonder if they'll announce anything else worth playing for the PSP there. Hmmm... yeah. Add that to my non-existent list. "Anything that makes me feel that my PSP was TOTALLY WORTH IT."

Lego Star Wars is honestly fucking sweet. Especially the co-op. Check it out, man. And I think the thumb may have reviewed it a while back, so check out the archives. Think about the worst part of the prequel trilogy (hint: the dialogue) and then remove it. Then replace all the crappy melodrama with melodrama acted out by Lego people, thus making it very funny. Sure the game is really easy, and it is entirely impossible to die, but it's just so damn fun and polished that it doesn't matter. Enjoy. EDIT: Damn you jp-30, you posted while I was writing this. Oh well, this post will stand complete for all to enjoy. EDIT EDIT: And just for the hell of it, here's a link to Duncan's thumb review. http://www.idlethumbs.net/display.php?id=176

Yeah, I got the last 2d Mario game for my fourth birthday. Holy crap, that's a weird thing to realize. Still, I'm glad IGN is in love with the game. Now to wait a week...

Very nice. I especially like the smoke effects on the volcanoes. A little cartoony, but still just realistic enough. Although the interface kinda looks like EA saying "Hey, this guy made The Sims too, remember?"

...I stole my sister's thumbstrap. She doesn't use it anyway. It works surprisingly well with the Lite, especially considering that you can't pull it through the hinge like I always did with my old DS, and feel pretty good. Mind you, I still don't have Metroid, so this is from trying it out with SM64, but now I'm not afraid to buy Metroid and have it be ruined by crappy control. Thumbstrap forever!

Yay! I think there's one on my way to work! w00ts!

It was Sonic Adventure. The first Dreamcast one. He introduced himself as Robotnik and they started making fun of how he looked like an egg. From that point on they all just called him Eggman. It seems that eventually even he embraced the name, which angers me, but there you have it. ...and now that it looks like you're sticking around the forum for reasons other than Gibbage, I feel I should extend some formal welcome, so yeah. Welcome.

How could anyone possibly read any more than that without spending their entire life locked in a room with nothing but food and internet? I didn't even know that many webcomics EXISTED.

Star Wars Original (Original) Trilogy on DVD?
miffy495 replied to DanJW's topic in Movies & Television
w00ts. I may finally buy it. Stupid remakes. -
Wasn't Shadow the one who was supposed to be fighting whitey? They gave him all the other stereotypes... Also, that Sonic launching off an exploding building thing doesn't say much for the "eXtreme-ing" of the gameplay but may be the best widescreen desktop ever. I think it's time for a switch.

No. Fucking. Way. I am so glad that MTV is some top-of-the-dial pay channel that I don't get here in Canada. If I were channel surfing basic cable one day and came across those guys, my face may explode.

Nah, I was home for christmas and I ended up playing through the Warriors story mode with my mom's boyfriend. Neither he nor I had even started a file in the game, so we went co-op straight from the beginning. The only problem is that little camera glitches that I later found quite forgivable in single player become very exaggerated and irritating when you've got 2 people going at the same time. When you get too far apart from each other, it goes into split-screen very abruptly. So much so that at least one player will almost always get thrown off by it. What's the deal with this Rez co-op thing? I can never convince many other people to play it for long, and as such didn't know it existed. Is it any good? EDIT: Ah, looking closer at elmuerte's Rez link, I see that it points to the vibrator article. You got my hopes up, man. You and your veiled sexual innuendo...

Hehehehehe. Giddy with joy. Mix n' Match. LEGO RANCOR!!! Glee. I was kind of half looking forward to this in that I'd probably buy it right away but I wasn't following it's development. That just changed. So painfully awesome. ...And still looking for more on that Gitaroo Man thing. Does anyone know about this? EDIT: Holy Crap! PSP Gitaroo! Count me in.

Yeah, but you could have said the same thing about Teddy Bears before Conquer's Bad Fur Day. Now I can't see one without wanting to explode it's head. On a similar matter: Marek, your image asplode. What was I supposed to be seeing there?

WHA?????? I didn't even know this existed. What's it for? Is Inis working on it again? HOW DID I NOT HEAR ABOUT THIS?

The mention of Timesplitters 2 reminded me that a while back a friend and I blew about 10 hours one night on the co-op in Future Perfect. The lesser of the two games (at any rate, not a classic like TS2) but has the better co-op. Also, the Xbox version is supposed to be the best of them.
