I gotta admit, while before this week I was thinking of getting a WiiS3, now I've definitely gravitated towards the Wii60. Or just a Wii. Or just use the Wii up until a few months before the Xbox 720 and PS4 are out and then get the older, end-of-the-life-cycle consoles.

Heh. Quite good. Especially the bit about the underachieving art director.
-
Played Mario 64DS? It works really, really well. 3D is not a problem on the DS, and while there may not be a whole lot of it available, when it is used the screen size has never seemed to pose a problem. Also, get Yoshi's Island for the GBA. NOW.

I haven't seen the trailer yet, so what I'm getting from this is that it's like Gex all over again. Please, please tell me this is wrong. EDIT: Watched it now. Never mind, that's awesome. More Mars Attacks! than anything else, really. That's probably why I like so much.
-
Impressive. I'd play it. Though I still have to get around to trying The Movies.

well, the love for Yoshi mostly stems from the fact that I can play Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, SF64, or Ouendan any time I feel like it, but Yoshi has gone without any real non-party-game love for a long time. Let's face it: Topsy Turvy and Touch n' Roll were both proof-of-concept products that had Yoshi slapped on them to make them marketable. Now there's some legitimate platforming going on. I don't know what prompted this 2D renaissance, (Sonic Rush, Super Princess Peach, New SMB, Kirby DS, Yoshi's Island 2, Super Paper Mario) but I'm damn happy to see it.

Ball bustingly hard you say? Ninja Gaiden-esque, or more like the last level of Viewtiful Joe? Well, at least Clover hasn't let me down before. (never played Red Hot Rumble...)
-
Snake? Seriously? What the hell? Not that I don't love MGS, but it really doesn't seem to fit in with the Ninty universe. Kinda weird.
-
I wouldn't mind an instructional one. That's actually a pretty damn good idea. The idea of a game that incorporates this swordfighting as an essential element to a larger game is what throws me.

Man, I used spoiler tags and everything. Way to ruin the effort. At any rate, he didn't really seem like the type to have children, but I guess it works. Can't wait.

WHAAAA?? The return of Von Karma? Mia and Maya have a cousin? THEY TRANSLATED THE DAMN THING???? glee! :woohoo: (Translated, of course, is my assumption that this is a port of Gyatuken Saiban 2) LEGITIMATE SPOILER FROM GAME ONE! DON'T READ UNLESS YOU'VE FINISHED CASE 4!

I don't get why so many people want to be able to do freehand sword battles with the Wii. Yeah, it would be fun... IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY GOOD AT IT. The problem lies in the fact that while everyone can push a button, not everyone can actually properly weild a sword. And not a lot of people are all that willing to put in the time required to learn. Everyone talks about this fabled freehand sword fighting game as if it would be the most intuitive and fantastic thing available, but learning how to do this well takes a lot of training. Is the average gamer, and probably many of the "hardcore," really up to investing all that time into it? In order to make it fun, it would need to be unrealistically dumbed down. So yeah. Freehand sword fighting = not to hard to do, very VERY hard to do well.

Indeed. I like the cutesy angle Rare has taken over the years. With the exception of PD and Goldeneye, it's all been cartoony fun. Sure, many of my friends laugh at me for playing this stuff (hell, some laugh at MARIO, forgodssake) but I have more fun than them, so fuck 'em.

Nah, not really stupid questions. The Wi-fi is for internet. As the PSP and PS3 will be communicating through Bluetooth, I believe this compatibility is unaffected. A multi-card reader is one that can read multiple different kinds of card. Memory Stick Duo, SD, etc. If you have a recent 3.5-inch floppy drive, odds are it has a multi-card reader in it. Have a look. HDMI (or High Definition Multimedia Interface) is being touted as kind of a cure-all for media playing. Uncompressed video and audio and such. It's possible that the PS3 will support a kind of HD without the HDMI using DVI, as HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI, but the signal from this would be inferior to true a HDMI signal. Goddamn. So many abbreviations...

Goldeneye Source. The Goldeneye multiplayer, totally redone in the Source engine. Still in the alpha, but lots o' fun.

Well, time to preorder. The only bad thing about the whole deal was that they're doing separate releases for Zelda. Bah, I say. I guess it would've had to ship on 2 disks anyway if they were just doing one release, but still.
-
Well, if I'm going to play GTA4 and it's between the $400 360 or the $600 (probably the price offered to us Canucks) PS3, I think the answer is clear.
-
Why the hell not? It was amazingly good. First RTS I actually bothered to finish simply because of the story. The expansion was redundant, but still fun. It's pretty cheap now too. Pick it up.

I wouldn't be talking about the death of Sony quite yet, but the points are all valid. I still haven't seen the vids, but the tilt has a very limited kind of appeal. You can do your Yoshi Topsy Turvy and your WarioWare Twisted, but then what? Peeking around corners in FPSs is something that's already done, and with two sets of shoulder buttons you've already got some buttons that are designed to be dedicated to the fucking manouver. Tilting really wouldn't add much to that scenario. There are some specific puzzles to throw around, but that's as far as it'll go. This will be the gimmick that everyone thought the Wii was going to be, (especially when only a few games will support it) and Sony is totally oblivious. Unless they have some incredible ace up their sleeve, I can easily see them dropping to second this generation. Third is possible, but a long shot. It's so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that the 360 is actually CHEAPER than the PS3. When the premium (read: only one worth having) was priced at $500, I nearly shat myself. Now that's the price of Sony's shit pack? What the hell are they thinking? I always kind of assumed that this generation I'd be going Ninty first and Sony if I had enough cash a couple years later. Now I may need to think about replacing Sony with MS, if only because that way I can still afford food. Kuturagi is either a fucking idiot or far too surrounded by yes-men, it's as simple as that. EDIT: It's really unfortunate because the PS2 has been the source of a lot of quirky fun for me. Katamari, Gitaroo, Mister Mosquito, Rez, and many others have never ceased to delight. Now this kind of fun is out of my price bracket. Bastard Sony.

Holy hell we killed it. Sorry, Telltale. We didn't mean it.
-
9:30 in the morning? Bastards. I guess I'll be watching a replay of it later then. That's barely 4 hours from now and I'm still up. Why no afternoon, Ninty? What have us late-workers ever done to you?
-
Yeah, but turning it from a ball in to a full-out billy club severley increases the chance of thwacking yourself in the face with it.
-
Yeah, that's typically what I do with any yo-yo, but the fact that there's a hard plastic ring there as opposed to a little loop of string just makes me think "hmm... must go around my finger." Either way, yo-yo balls are the epitome of useless trinkets. If your yo-yo comes back on its own, what's the fucking point?
-
Given how closely I follow this shit, I wouldn't consider myself casual, and that price has me plenty scared. Fuck that, man. If I end up getting a PS3, there's no way in hell I'm gonna pay more than $250 for it. (CANADIAN DOLLARS) However long I gotta wait for it to fall to that doesn't matter. Probably get it used too, just so Sony doesn't get any extra cash off of me.
-
Whatever. Most people have those by now anyway. I missed out on the early days though, so I'm glad to have the chance on my DS. As for Crystal Chronicles, it had damn well better be online on DS. And what the hell, on Wii too. I may have convinced people that the DS is awesome, but somehow I still can't convince them to leave mine alone and buy their own damn system.
