<----- (points to avatar) Don't suggest superiority to Zim. Still, great show and would totally buy a DVD. It could sit next to the Zim box set.

Recent movies: Pirates, A Scanner Darkly, The Matador...

*bow* thank you, thank you. -
I remember reading in a magazine (I forget the title. I was young and stupid, and thus picked it up because it promised Smash Bros Melee strategy) about that game. They had a few pages at the back about Japanese gaming, and Pepsiman was featured prominently. Last place I expected to see it again was here, but it's always good to be reminded of the crazy.

Wow, I'm tempted to play it just based on that art. It's always nice to blow shit up in a shiny new way.

Hell, I don't even get the Sci-Fi channel here in Canada, so DVDs for us all.

My only concern at this point is with regards to price. Frankly, I don't like multiplayer games unless I'm playing people I know. I've run into incredibly stupid and irritating people online far too often to be able to log onto anything confident that I'll enjoy myself. As such, I probably won't be playing TF2. The bullet point said that it would be bundled with Ep 2, which I will definitely be playing. Is this to give us extra value for our $20, or will this push the price up to god-knows? With some people already complaining that Ep 1 wasn't even fully worth the $20, I'd hate to be paying extra for something I won't be using.

That may be a part of it. I found Darwinia pre-hype and loved it to death. Then again, I enjoyed the demo level, so I'm not really sure where to go from if you didn't like it. If you do give it a shot, I hope you like. I'm thinking I'll order Uplink from their website in the near future for the hell of it. Anyone played?

I was once given some Happy Asparagus Biscuits as desert when the people at a sushi restaurant were told by my friend that it was my birthday. Those were pretty good, tasted nothing like asparagus. Kind of like animal crackers with extra sugar and some sesame seeds thrown in. Tasty, at any rate.

What do you think will happen in the middle east?
miffy495 replied to Carlius's topic in Idle Banter
LMAO! Seriously though, we're all doomed. This shit has built up for way too damn long for it to be solved by almost anything other than the complete erradication of one side. That ain't happening, and definitely not peacefully, so it'll all implode on its own time. -
The demo really isn't that much like the final game, either. It's an isolated level that doesn't even actually appear in the story mode. I found Darwinia to be a lot more arcade-y than C&C and quite refreshing. And you really do start to care about your Darwinians. I got more of an emotional impact from seeing the sky obscured by thousands of Darwinian souls floating upwards after a particularly gruesome battle than any WWII game ever game me.

Oh man that is brilliant. They even had the Edgeworth bow down perfectly. Thanks for the link.

Well the camera is a pain in the ass, but the game is still fun.

no, this is.

“Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan” Music Videos for the Original Songs

Does anyone know someone else in their area with the game? I've heard multiplay is amazing, but I don't know anyone else with a DS, let alone who imports. What's it like? -
As long as we're asking advice in this thread, I won't bother creating a new one for this: So, I recently felt like playing a balls-out action game and saw a copy of Devil May Cry for about $10. I picked it up and am really enjoying it. Question is, is the sequel really as bad as everyone says? Assuming I can find it cheap, is it worth a playthrough or should I just go right on to 3?

Yeah, Panzer Dragoon was the first game I got when I got my Xbox (as this was only 6 months ago, the guy at the counter was pretty confused, but there you have it.) Great fun. Absolutely beautiful while you play it. Doesn't last long, but as you're only borrowing the Xbox, that shouldn't be a problem. JSRF was pretty good, I thought, but I also lost interest quite quickly. Somewhere around the bit with the mummies. I'd also reccommend the Oddworld games (Munch, then Stranger. Stranger is good, but still mostly just a shooter.) if you're looking for something pretty out there. Oh yeah, one more thing. If you get the chance, don't pass up Crimson Skies too quickly. It may not be regarded as highly as the PC predecessor, but it's a good, mindless blowing shit up game set in a universe I love. If you were into the original, at least give this one a shot.

Recent movies: Pirates, A Scanner Darkly, The Matador...
miffy495 replied to Moosferatu's topic in Movies & Television
So today I went to see the press screening of A Scanner Darkly. Afterwards, the friend that came along with me ("Free movie? Sure!") suggested that as it was only 11:45, we grab lunch and then catch a matinee of Pirates. Here are my impressions of both. A Scanner Darkly: Good, but even at an hour and a half, it feels a bit long. The story is interesting and everything, but they spend way too much time beating about the bush. Also, Keanu Reeves' constant wandering off into soliloquies can get pretty tiresome. Luckily, Robert Downey Jr.'s preformance is fantastic and makes up for many of the film's shortcomings. The rest of the shortcomings are made up for by the beauty of the rotoscoping and the effects that that creates. A very elegant and beautiful movie with a couple of really good preformances that unfortunately ends up feeling just a bit disappointing compared to what it could have been. Overall though, it was worth seeing, and I'm definitely going to hold onto the swag they were giving out for press stuff. Pirates: Vapid. Pretty. Fun as all hell. I didn't expect much in terms of plot, and was duly rewarded. It's actually got a bit more going on upstairs than I assumed it would have going in, so I was pleasantly surprised. Some really creative action sequences and crazy effects made the whole thing a joy to watch. As expected, a lot was borrowed from Monkey Island, but nothing wrong with that, really. Felt almost like a nice homage. Unfortunately, the ending is abrupt and (unlike Scanner) seems to come way too quickly, despite the movie being over 2 hours. I know they were filming this and its sequel simultaneously, but did they really have to make it feel like such a middle chapter? Even the Empire Strikes Back resovled SOME of its plotlines. This one just leaves you hanging on all counts. With a year to go before the next installment, that's quite the irritant. Aside from the ending though, really fun movie. Fantastic when you just want to blow a couple of hours being mindlessly entertained. Oh, and one last thing: That'll do it. 2 of the summer's big 3 in one day. I feel some bizzare sense of accomplishment. -
“Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan” Music Videos for the Original Songs
miffy495 replied to Tommy Gun's topic in Video Gaming
Damn, impressively thorough. Song diagrams are an interesting idea, and I still need to watch most of those videos. Thanks for the quick access, man. On a somewhat-related note, I really wish this game worked better as a portable game. It's great if you're sitting on something stationary, but it's hard as hell to play on the bus or the train. Gitaroo Man Live! ftw in this case, although I wish I could read more kanji so that I could figure out the stuff that wasn't already in the PS2 game. -
Heh. I walked in and that was the first thing I saw. Then I got sidetracked while getting a beer and only saw the last bit of the penatly kicks. All in all, I was entertained and drinking, so I'm happy.

A Scanner Darkly doesn't open in my city until Friday, and only in one theater. Luckily, I work for said theater and get to go to a press screening tomorrow morning. I'll report back with how awesome/shit it is. Although keep in mind, I love rotoscoping so it'll have to really be terrible for me to not at least KINDA like it. -
You're just jealous because no one makes your characters dance.
-
just... . I don't know if I'll be able to look at Stan the same way again.
-
I'm busy as all hell today, so no gaming for me. Tomorrow I'm probably going to finish off my latest replay of Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars and then frantically check my mailbox to see if my Japanese copy of Gitaroo Man Live! has arrived yet. Of course, since it's Sunday, it won't have, but I'll still check. Then I may go back to trying to fix that audio bug in Freelancer. (Damn voices don't work. Everything else is fine...) All in all, a full day of gaming. Probably to be capped off with Guitar Hero and another level of Wario Land for Virtual Boy, although my stand is broken and lying on my back balancing the VB on my face to play is quite uncomfortable. This is why I can only play VB when I'm in bed. The trials I'll go through in the service of my hobby.

Heh, I'm surprised I hadn't heard of that series before. That clip reminds me a bit of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Plus, Steve Coogan is awesome. I'll be looking into that show quite shortly.

God no. I live in Calgary. It's currently the week of the Calgary Stampede, the time when tourists flock to the city to watch the citizens celebrate the fact that the founders were a bunch of drunken inbred rednecks by temporarily becoming drunken inbred rednecks themselves. I want out. Please, get me out of this crap by way of sweet, sweet british culture references.
