Run home to Shacknews! (please don't. We have precious little content as is...)
-
They're not made of meat, man. They're made of COOKIE. Cookie and candy. If that's not worth cooking and devouring, I don't know of another mascot that is. Well, ok. Maybe Tony the Tiger, but only because I've never eaten tiger before.

You missed Zim too? Those two shows form an intergral part of my animation DVDs. Rent them, post haste.

I don't even remember the Portals. Were they on Xen, or what?

Ah yes, the sweetest crack of all. The metaphor, unfurling its wings and spreading across the page, flits from post to post until it finally alights upon the milkweed of a particularly verbose forumite.

She may or may not be in it. The film is "Resurrecting the Champ" with Josh Hartnett and Samuel L Jackson. It's being filmed in the city. Johansson and Hartnett came by together. The vibe that I got was that they're bumping incredibly attractives, but I could be mistaken. I don't keep up with the gossip, so it's entirely possible that they've been publicly bonking for months and I've just been unaware. I've never heard the term "chav" used before. Must be a brit thing. I just call people like that cunts. Like those cunts (see?) who drive around downtown sometimes with a paintball gun full of marbles. Unfortunately, I've never been armed with rocks when I run into them, so I haven't had a chance to strike back. EDIT: Hmmm... after checking IMDB, Johansson is not in the movie. Which builds the case for her fucking Hartnett, as why the hell else would she come to Calgary? Alan Alda is in the movie though. If I see him, I need to have the MASH theme ready to play at full volume.

Honestly, I hope they don't incorporate Portal into the HL2 universe. It seems that they've already lost the Dungeon Keeper 2 vibe that I got from the graphics of Narbacular Drop, and that's a pity. One thing though: Where can I find the trailer in HD? Is that the fileplanet one? I've only seen the stream so far and wouldn't mind some high quality wow-ing.

I did wha? Oh yeah, the gamemusicthemes thing. The other stuff, god knows.

I had Scarlett Johansson come into my work on Sunday. Kind of an odd moment. Apparently she's in Calgary filming something and decided to stop by the arthouse theater. Unfortunately, I did not break anyone's windows later in the day, rather went and got drunk with some friends. Can't win 'em all, I guess.

Why would they take the eyes off of the cooked doughboys? Everyone knows they're made of candy!

Played a bit of Narbacular Drop now (dl-ed it when Portal was first announced, motivated by the trailer to actually play the thing) and it's quite fun. Damn impressive considering that it's a free student project. A little rough around the edges, but I find it hard to complain about something of this quality that's also free. Now I REALLY want Episode 2 to come out already. EDIT: whelp, just beat it. Took all of 20 minutes from start to finish. Still fun though, and free. Special thanks to M.C. Escher. heh.

Dunno, I think I still prefer 1. Not by much, and 2 would have won out had there been some form of insult competition, but there you have it.

All the sheet music is available on the guy's web page, here. Enjoy.

So they're releasing the first Sonic again...
miffy495 replied to Aussie Ben's topic in Video Gaming
Welcome to the forums. I must give you a friendly warning though. Watch what you say about Sonic around here. Most of us love the games an unhealthy amount, and not all are mentally stable. Some may even attempt to hunt you for sport for such transgressions as your previous post. -
Damn portal looks awesome. I will be preordering as soon as it's available (as that seems to be a good way to save about $5 on Steam...) and playing the hell out of it soon after. Downloaded Narbacular Drop, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Soon...

Recent movies: Pirates, A Scanner Darkly, The Matador...
miffy495 replied to Moosferatu's topic in Movies & Television
Nothing to do with The Matador, but this morning I got to go to another press screening for a documentary that opens on Friday. It's called Wordplay, and follows the key competitors in a crossword puzzle tournament. Didn't think I'd actually care about the competition itself and really just wanted to see what they'd be able to do in a movie about crossword puzzles. Surprised the hell out of me. During the final round of the tournament I was almost biting my fingernails. They managed to make a bunch of people doing puzzles incredibly tense and exciting. I reccommend it, as it was a really interesting hour and a half of film. Now then, to rent The Matador... -
Tim Schafer is so potent that I got pregnant from reading the Double Fine news page.

[pedant]Actually, in its early stages of the game, it would be a Dromedary (one hump) rather than a camel. (two humps) [/pedant] I'm picturing something like Camel Dragoon Ultra: 2007. Panzer Dragoon, but moving through the desert on a camel and using modern weaponry. A spin-off, if you will, of Sega's seemingly abandoned series. One of the imperial soldiers travels through time to try to find a super-advanced dragoon only to discover that the species has evolved into camels. Disheartened, but still wishing to complete his mission, he steals a camel and some modern weaponry and tries to find a way back to his own time. By the end of the game, after evolving from dromedary to camel, it finally reawakens as a dragoon and the last level has you flying through some modern city, dodging skyscrapers and such while racing desperately for a closing time portal and being fired upon by UN forces. ...man, I would totally play that.

“Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan” Music Videos for the Original Songs
miffy495 replied to Tommy Gun's topic in Video Gaming
I'm typically sitting propped up in bed when I'm playing Ouendan. Nice and comfy. I used to take it on the train to work, but after a while it got far too frustrating to keep at while moving, particularly the higher levels on insane. -
Christ, you make an honest attempt to mock a guy and it just gets thrown back in your face...

never hurts to have opinions from OUTSIDE Consolevania as well though. Especially for me, as someone who never gets into multiplayer games. Is the concept intruiging enough to keep you hooked? How much narrative is there, and does the presence of other players detract from it? etc, etc, etc.

Snakes on a Plane (and Gnarls Barkley)
miffy495 replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Movies & Television
Wow, that was a really positive review. The hype had really bored me of late, but now I may go see it pretty early in its run.
