I'm very tempted. Think I'll wait for the next batch with the new chip though. Anyone know how long that'll take to arrive? Zombies need smashing, dammit!

Wow toblix, that's some real anger there. I thought that TC was really good myself, but I didn't really run into any incredible difficulty until the last chapter, which was as it should be. Yeah, if you're getting incredibly stressed by the whole thing, it may just be time to throw in the towel. I did the same with Ninja Gaiden, and my blood pressure thanks me for it.

I'm with you man. This game floored me. As for Princess Shroob, she wasn't nearly as hard as Cackletta was in Superstar Saga. Cackletta took me a good week of just retrying before I could beat her. Shroob was challenging, but beaten quite quickly. I also have to chime in on my sister's behalf here, as she's not really a fan of video games, but got her own GBA after playing some of my copy of Superstar Saga, and laid claim to my DS after I got a lite so that she could play PiT. This series has managed to get my mostly non-gamer sister playing for 30+ hours on the gameboy, which is quite an achievement. Oh yeah, toblix: Get SS. If you want more PiT to play, but with (as mentioned) a more cohesive world/story, it's perfect. And the Bros attacks take slightly more skill to pull off well than the items that they were replaced with for PiT. If you enjoyed PiT as much as it seems, you will also love SS.

Why BG&E failed - written by an UbiSoft PR employee
miffy495 replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
Hmmmm... I just learned that none of my roommates have played BG&E. All three of us have our own 'cubes from before we moved in together. I think this disc needs to be moved around from room to room over the next month or so. -
Heh. That's why I still use the original Xbox controller instead of the S version. It's the closest thing this generation can give you to that old "playing-on-a-dinner-plate" feeling of the classic Sega consoles.

Yes, and there are 6 times as many elephants now than there were three years ago...
-
You realize that just means that we need to create more threads with that title, right?
-
Too late, man. Renewed through season 12. Two more years minimum.

I just finished a night of Hyper Fighting on the SNES with my roommate. Why exactly is a 360 version necessary?
-
Actually, the controller is more like 12 years old if you go back to before the added the analog in a frenzy of "oh crap oh crap oh crap we need STICKS!" Done! *boots up Battletoads* mmmmm....

Yeah, it did get really fucking hard in the middle. Then once you get over that hump it's not so bad anymore. And the plot is pretty good, so it's worth it. Then there's the last chapter, which is murderously difficult. I remember trying to play through the third last operation at work and getting busted because of a particularly loud "FUCKING PEMPTI!!!!" Luckily, I was busted by an underling who then wanted to play, so it was all cool.

I feel the same way about Monk, actually. I really like the first two seasons, but it just started to get dumb after that.

Well, do you already know how to play? The biggest hurdle for you will be that the tutorial is in Japanese. If you know what you're doing already or have someone looking over your shoulder to explain what's happening in the tutorial, then you should be ok. Don't know if it's worth missing the story though. Despite the horrible voice acting, the story in Gitaroo Man is surprisingly good. The ninth level always makes a huge smile break over my face. Much more of a quality story than you'd usually get out of a rhythm game, at any rate. On the other hand, I would reccommend that you play it on PSP over PS2, given the fact that the controls just feel a bit more precise. So yeah. It's not too hard to get a handle on gameplay. If you're interested in the game, then you've probably already picked up the mechanics of it from somewhere. Whether or not you want to wait for "Q4 2006" to understand the story is another matter. Gameplay won't really be affected by the language barrier though.

A question for akk you musical game freaks! (That have played Donkey Konga)
miffy495 replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
True. Jungle Beat = Awesome. I got the bongos for that game originally, and considered Konga a bonus for the peripheral. -
Well, Calgary's Folk Festival is over, and I was absolutely blown away by a dude from Australia called That One Guy. (<--- myspace link) Incredible to watch him preform. His homemade instrument is incredible. If you ever get a chance to see him play, do it. If you go to that1guy.com, (<--- official website) you can see a couple of vids of his preformances. Completely mesmerizing to see it. Got his CD after the show ended. Quite good. Not as good as seeing him, but a very good listen nonetheless.

Just came from a three-bongo-set jam at a buddy's house. It never gets old if you have others to play with. Yeah, it is a bit easier than other rhythm games. Mostly, I suspect, because it was the first true rythm game for a Nintendo console, so they didn't want to scare anyone off. Still, Gorilla can get pretty challenging on some songs. If you want to get owned, just pick a whole lot of bananas on Gorilla. If you want some more pretty easy rhythm game stuff, DDR Mario Mix is about half as difficult as any standard DDR game, but still very fun. They seem to tone down the difficulty for the 'cube games. -
Liar. I am the one true horse! All others are merely userpers of my reign.

bit Generations [GBA] Mini-Review - Part 1/2
miffy495 replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Video Gaming
Thanks man. Looks like about what I gathered from the online vids. After reading IGN's thing, it seems Boundish improves dramatically with multiple players, but as I know very few people with gameboys, it's probably best to avoid it. -
Bastard. This won't be released for months yet. I really want to play it, but will have forgotten about it by then.

Today I got to see Bedouin Soundclash as well as Ari Up Vs. Dubblestandart. (yeah, they're different artists, but they were playing a set of duets. Kicked ass.) Tomorrow, I'll be wandering around Prince's Island Park and listening to the sessions that they have set up. 3 or 4 groups to a stage, all jamming together from 10:30 til 5:30. Kick ass weekend ahead. This festival is really the only reason anyone should bother visiting Calgary.

Ebay has been good to me lately, supplying my Arcade-y fix. I just finished a quick run-through of Batlletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team, which made me very happy considering I haven't played it since I was 7 years old. Nostalgia rocks. All that I'm really wanting to see ported to a modern console, nostalgia-wise, is Gunstar Heroes on Wii. I never had a Sega system growing up, so if I have to miss out on this again just because they opted not to put it on virtual console, it'd suck quite a bit.

I played a virtual darts game (don't ask... it was free and preloaded) on my two year old Ericsson while waiting for a train once. I much prefer the modern method of people looking over my shoulder wondering what the hell I'm doing while playing Gitaroo Man on my PSP. Nobody ever seems to understand that game until they play it...
-
Heh. I did the same thing in Muskoka in 1998. My little sister and I co-oped through the entire game.
-
Ha ha. I'm attending an open-air music festival this weekend. In your face, England. (P.S. Bedouin Soundclash is playing tomorrow night! W00ts!)

Ugh. Down In The Valley was just so slow. Norton put on a good show, as always, but the movie overall just didn't feel worth it. Movie I can really recommend of late was Wordplay. Really good documentary. It'd not neccessary that you be a language geek to appreciate it, but it helps. Also, The Proposition was really good. Well worth admission. As for TV shows, I've been plowing through all eight DVD sets of Red Dwarf and really haven't watched anything new for a while. I enjoy Rescue Me and Weeds, but always end up just renting entire seasons after they air, so there isn't much I'm ever actually watching. Aside from Daily Show/Colbert, of course. Those are just a given. EDIT: Oh yeah. One more vote for House as well. So what if every episode is basically the same? It's still good, dammit.
