  1. Hold it! GBA Phonenix?!

Yup, Gyakuten Saiban 4 coming to the DS in Japan soon, 1 through 3 already out on GBA. If it helps, we actually are benefiting from the DS versions, as case 5 was totally new and I believe there's something similar planned for Justice For All.
  2. Next Gen ... is it worth it?

I finally got a chance to play a 360 somewhere that wasn't an EB this weekend and I gotta say I was really impressed. The next gen to me is about the ideas that they're coming up with. Not so much from Sony's side at this point, but Ninty and MS are doing pretty well so far. I didn't consider how much of an impact the Live Marketplace would have on things, but after playing a bunch of co-op Gauntlet and vs Joust, demos of DOA4 and Chromehounds, and generally just messing around with the interface, it's really done a lot to change the way I look at the system. Sony doesn't seem to understand that version of "Next-gen" which is why I think the PS3 will be a total cock-up. From a Wii60 perspective, though, I'm now quite looking forward to the next/new generation.
  3. PS3 vs Wii apple commercial parody

I'm with you on this one, Kingz. While I was convinced about Wii over PS3 a long time ago, this one just makes them both look like shit. Buy a PS3 and be bitched at and dominated (although that may be your thing... ) or buy a Wii and get the clap. Also, the Mac users that they show in Mac ads are the reason Mac pisses me off. Perfectly fine machines/OS, but frustratingly hipper-than-thou users/zealots.
  4. "Rhythm Paradise"

Got it this morning. So fun. Dunno if it was entirely worth the $40 + shipping, but then again, I've only played through the first two stages (stages being a set of 5 + the remix. Haven't started the third set) yet. Definitely inspired by Made in Wario. The art is spot on. Not as hard as I've been led to believe, but then again, I play a lot of rhythm games. In terms of portable rhythm games, harder than Daigassou, not as hard as Ouendan or Gitaroo Man. Lots of goodness to be had here if you really like either Warioware or rhythm games.
  5. WTF? nintendo monopoly?

Ticket is fucking brilliant. Also, if you don't have time for a long game, Chrononauts can be fun. Time travel/card game. Although it usually ends up with just a big scrable to kill and then un-kill hitler, as that timeline has more ripples to worry about than any other.
  6. Someone has to say it, so it may as well be me: *ahem* Well excuuuuuuuuse ME, Princess!
  7. Xbox 360 on PC

As I'm probably going to be getting a 360 sometime in the near future (student loans come in soon, and are always a couple of thousand more than I need) I got myself one of the wired 360 gamepads. I figured that even if I don't end up getting the actual system for a while, I could still use it with my PC so its worth it anyway. I know a couple of you guys also use 360 pads with your PCs, so I thought I'd turn to you. What kind of config software do you use to get everything running well? I've got some basic stuff set up, but the dead zone on the sticks seems to be a bit too small. Any tips?
  8. Xbox 360 on PC

I have done so. I've been playing Grid Wars for months now using a crappy rip-off PS2 pad from Logitech, and this is so much smoother. Also the first time I encountered any troubles though. For instance, it registered firing left and right to the analog shoulder buttons rather than the stick, so that had to be reconfigured. Works fine now, but still having some problems with the dead zone. I suspect the problem is with MS's software for PC, as I have tried out the pad on an actual 360 (such as the one in your office) and it was smooth and played incredibly well.
  9. "Rhythm Paradise"

Doubtful. Have you played Ouendan? From what I've read, they're on about the same level. Can't say for myself yet, but hopefully early next week.
  10. bit Generations [GBA] Mini-Review - Part 1/2

I've ordered Coloris as well. I'll let you know how it is when it arrives. Oh, and now that I've gotten the hang of the controls and replayed the first 10 or so levels, Orbital is really quite meditative and impressive as a game. It's just that initial "holy fuck how do I move this thing around" that you need to get past, then it's great.
  11. Chris Remo Podcast

Sounds like any conversation I've had with my friends. Just the other night we were discussing the logistics of Iron Man masturbating.
  12. "Rhythm Paradise"

Any game that posts a video of the programmers dancing automatically wins some kind of awesome prize.
  13. Chris Remo Podcast

All those who saved the picture in case it ever gets lost again, add to his torment by saying "aye." Aye!
  14. WTF? nintendo monopoly?

I'm very tempted to buy it. It's only like $30 on eBay. Would that cross the line for "sad and pathetic nerd" if I did?
  15. Zany Space Shooters!

Don't know if you've played Tumiki Fighters or not, but it's pretty zany. Not really a space shooter, but a decent shooter anyway. Everything that you blow up can be glommed on to your ship if you run into its debris and if you're good you can have a giant mass of toy blocks firing in all directions. Quite fun. Course, as ABA games was mentioned in a thread a couple of weeks back, you may already know about it. In which case I just wasted everyone's time. Whups.
  16. Lego Star Wars 2 demo

Yeah, that bothers me a bit as well. I was really impressed with the way they handled cutscenes in the first one and now it just seems a bit cheapened by the fact that one of the best features of the first has been compromised. Still, as long as they don't go any further than grunts I will probably get used to it quite quickly. Control doesn't bother me so much. Do you have a decent USB gamepad? I use a logitech ripoff of the dual-shock, and given that I played the original on PS2 it was just like hopping back into the game I'd played months ago. Not sure, but off to the side in that area where you build the chicken walker is something that looks like a car wash for landspeeders. I didn't clue into it myself, but maybe you should try driving the thing into it or around that area. If you can sell it, that's my best guess for where it would happen.
  17. bit Generations [GBA] Mini-Review - Part 1/2

No worries. Just remember that the controls really can be shite at some times. It took me about 4 levels just to work out that I was manipulating the pull from the planets. For a while there it was "Why does B make me go to the right now when earlier it was making me go left!?"
  18. "Rhythm Paradise"

Well, it should be at my house within a week now, so I can let you know what it's like with buttons if you want...
  19. bit Generations [GBA] Mini-Review - Part 1/2

Got it in the mail today: Orbital An interesting little game. Kind of like that Flow In Games thing, but involving planets. You go around absorbing smaller planets and trying to avoid smashing into larger ones. It uses an interesting kind of control system. You press the A button to attract yourself into the orbit of the nearest planet and the B to repel. While kind of cool when you can get it to work properly, this method also lends itself to much frustration. Combined with the fact that when colliding with a larger planet, you are sent in the opposite direction from where you hit, a single collision can often send you ricocheting back and forth between planets with no way to change course quickly enough to avoid losing many lives in a matter of seconds. Still, there are many worse games out there and solving some of the levels can be quite rewarding. I'll follow Wrestlevania's scoring method here and give it a 3/5.
  20. Ernest Adams on Citizen Kane: MMORPG

Y'know, I think a better way for Gamasutra to bring attention to the whole thing with a much more coherent case would be to just put up a link to Remo's "I Kill You" and be done with it. Enough with the high-brow, low-brow stuff. If it's good, it's good. Being pretentious is no excuse for making shit products, and there are quite a few cases where a more artistic/less violent/more story-focused/however the hell you want to define "high-brow" game has managed to capture a substantial audience. It may just be me, but this guy's argument holds about as much water as an upside-down seive that's had the base cut out of it.
  21. Die Hard 4

I didn't say the rest of the movie was any good. One decent and entertaining scene mixed in with a complete shit rest-of-movie does not a good film make. Also, my having very fond memories of that scene may simply have to do with the fact that the last time I saw it, I was 11 years old. In my memory, that chase was amazing.
  22. Ernest Adams on Citizen Kane: MMORPG

Stupid Michael Fucking Moore. Even when I agree with him, I still think he's a slimeball son of a bitch. Anyway: I find it interesting that he not only shows how ignorant he is of the industry he's paid to write about, but drags comics throught the mud as well. Sin City? For kids. Bone? Juvenile and immature. Etc. How the hell does this dude still have a job? Someone needs to send that man a link to Facade, right quick.
  23. Die Hard 4

I gotta agree man. Crusade was awesome. The tank scene was one of the best chases ever, the only semi-recent rival I can think of was that horse chase in Mask Of Zorro where he's picking all the soldiers off from behind. In fact, I think I'll go watch Crusade now. ... Fucking sister took my Indy box set last time she came to visit. Dammit.
  24. Wasn't Killer 7 originally one of the Capcom 5? Actually, wasn't RE4 as well? These were announced at either E3 2002 or 2003 (can't quite remember) but that was still around the middle of the lifespan. Yeah, it took them a while to come out, but they were making a go at a bit more maturity back before public perception really bit them in the ass. Either way, yeah wii = win. It's only one letter off.
  25. Ummm... Eternal Darkness? That was almost launch, man. So good.
