Fucking psychology major. My projects all involve crazy people. Not nearly as fun.

NEVER. BELITTLE. MASTER. SPLINTER. :(

The original NES Battletoads isn't so hard. On the SNES though, Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team can be near fucking impossible without a friend coming along on co-op. Still, the co-op is good enough that I don't care.

I uh... have a Throttle action figure somewhere around here.

I beat the Meat Circus, but lost about 20 lives in the process. Damn that level pissed me off. How come no one's mentioned Ninja Gaiden yet?
-
Got it on Friday, and have been playing it since. Good, but goddamn is it ever hard. The enemies themselves aren't usually that bad, with a few expletive-screaming exceptions, but those missiles make it far too easy to lose. The combat is very good though, so I'm enjoying it. Anyone else picked it up by now?

Of course the way the release schedual works, this just came out. I hear the SNES is due soon. Enjoy Mario World, it's one of the best.
-
Really? I was interested in the style for that one, but heard the game itself was crap. If I can get it on the cheap, would you recommend a playthrough?
-
Oh. Fuck. Yes. So happy right now. This is brutally awesome.
-
You got them from your eyes???
-
I would also like to know the answer to that. What the fuck is all that about sand? Did your brain just kind of vomit onto the page?
-
I've beaten it too. So has, I believe, Tommy Gun. Canadian citizenship, Australian family. I'm not even a little bit Japanese. Just takes practice. Keep going, dammit. It's worth the awesome feeling when you win.

Well, the only person I know with a 360 has told me that I can have his copy of PDZ when I get one. Thanks for lowering my expectations to a point where I may actually enjoy it.
-
Good good. Carry on then. Just making sure.

I believe the story is that he needs the people for inspiration, otherwise all he can make are those little grave statues. And yeah, it can get really hard. Keep at it. The later ones get really really good. At least get through Over the Distance before you consider giving up.

I'm not saying that that should be civilization, just that that's what a lot of people mean when they say that something needs to be civilized. They think it should become more like America or England. I don't approve, but a lot of stupid people like to use words in that way. This mother in the story obviously thinks that she's civilizing the world by enforcing her christian values, for example.
-
Well, the classic definition is that you speak english and believe in Jesus. In that case, fuck civilization.
-
Man, a system like the SNES may actually deserve a funeral. What are you going to do for it?
-
Hmmm... Ok. Earthworm Jim 3D Trace Memory Painkiller Yoshi's Topsy Turvy That's just off the top of my head. There have probably been many more that I just can't think of right now.
-
Great, thanks Ben. Now we all need to play Doctor Jesus, which will never exist. You've somehow managed to create a tiny, Doctor Jesus-shaped void in all of our lives.
-
Yeah, I'd had a look at that a while ago. I really, really want to play it, but as you say: Japan only. Fuckers. w/ regards to Ouendan difficulty: When you first start the game, there are two choices for difficulty. If you don't read Japanese, (can [kinda] now, couldn't when I got the game) it's really a toss up which one is easy and which one is normal. As a result, I beat normal and then went on to easy, expecting a greater challenge. I got pretty good at Ouendan based off of my own mistake/stupidity. Now have beaten insane, so all is well. Amazing how many, many months of obsessing will do that for you. Still, sometimes I wonder how much longer it would have taken to get good if I'd actually started on the difficulty I was supposed to.
-
That is a damn convincing review. Sounds brilliant.

Fuckin right. Count me in. I was too young for most of these when they first came out, so I've missed out on most of them.
-
It's true though. If you're looking for good rhythm games, the PS1/2 is your best bet. Gitaroo, Parappa, Guitar Hero, etc. Lots of rhythm love for Sony.
-
I think the GBA one that you mean is Rhythm Tengoku. It's a lot of fun, and if you've played Warioware, think about what that would be like with some rhythm game stuff thrown in. I've almost got perfect in every one of the games in it now (yeah, I'm kind of obsessing over it) and it still manages to be fun. Otherwise, for the DS a lot of people recommend Daigassou! Band Brothers. I have that as well. It's a decent enough game, but doesn't really hold a candle to the awesome of Ouendan. The main problem with it is that all the songs are crappy midi versions rather than a real track. I've heard that Daigassou is great if you have a good number of people to play it with, (2-8) but haven't had a chance to try that. The single player is fun, but leaves something to be desired. If you're looking for music but not really any kind of goal or objective, Electroplankton is a good way to chill for a few minutes at a time, but isn't really suited for extended play. It's like being a little kid and messing with the piano that sits in the living room of a friend's house. You're not really doing anything, but you feel like you're making real music, so it's fun.
