  1. Osu tatakae Ouendan.

I know someone who wants to order the game! Hurray! He even asked me where I got my copy from! (He's never imported before) I may yet get to sample the sweet delicious multiplayer!
  2. Best News Story Ever

Slow work day + slow news day = fun.
  3. Hi, here are some babies

Ah yes. I gave birth to a few wisdom teeth over the summer as well. My sister (who has three children) informs me that it's not quite the same. Congatulations, Wrestlevania. You never know about that curse. I ended up actually liking most of the stuff my dad did.
  4. [Choose a Classic] Burnout 3 or Burnout 4?

Burnout 2 does have the awesome Pursuit mode though. That's a good deal of fun. Plays like a graphically updated version of the same sort of mode from NFS Hot Pursuit, but where your goal is to blow up the speeder rather than stop them.
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

Holy crap! R. Lee Ermey is still alive?
  6. Canadian games??

Never played it, but if it involves going back to the lab where he was created, then yes. I believe it's supposed to be somewhere near Calgary.
  7. Canadian games??

Heh. Everyone knows that Sasquatch is Canadian. It only makes sense. I swear to God, if you look hard enough at those photos, he's carrying a case of Pil.
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah. House is worth watching for Laurie. Also, the occasional episodes that deviate from the above formula. The gay mobster and the one where he's teaching some med students spring to mind.
  9. [Choose a Classic] Burnout 3 or Burnout 4?

I spent some time with Revenge today (mostly because of this thread) and have decided that it is awesome. As Loonyboi said, the fact that it's on 360 and thus looks amazing doesn't hurt. It's got some nice tracks and everything, but the change of race-selection interface is a bit jarring after Takedown and Legends, which both used the world map. Still don't think it's as good as Takedown was back in the day, but as I got all the gold medals available in Takedown, I need something different to keep up the challenge. It's a damn fun game, but it's really just more of the same. I'd think the impact of Revenge would be greater if I hadn't played Takedown to death. Really, before you make the decision, think about how skilled you want the game to need you to be. Do you want to be dodging traffic all the time, even when you're going the same direction (Takedown) or do you want to be able to stay in your lane and just blow everything around you up in a frantic attempt to get to the finish? (Revenge) I think I actually prefer the extra focus on skill that Takedown had, but that's just me.
  10. What's your favourite movie?

This pretty much covers it. Great fun time at the movies, but where the hell did they misplace the ending?
  11. MTV acquires Harmonix

Thinking of Harmonix, who's played Amplitude? I loved Frequency but never got a chance to pick up it's sequel. Should I bother to track it down?
  12. [Choose a Classic] Burnout 3 or Burnout 4?

I played Burnout 3 obsessively when I got it. Sure, it may have been because it was the only PS2 game I had for about a month there, but considering that I haven't really liked any racing game before or since (Mario Karts excluded) it's still a pretty impressive feat. I was lent a copy of Burnout 4 by a friend who wanted me to use it as a way of christening my new 360, but honestly I have yet to touch it for more than a few minutes. It's still a great game and all, but it just lacks something that made 3 amazing. I can't put my finger on it. Legends for the PSP was quite enjoyable for me, and I played that almost as much as I played 3. Why I can't get into 4 escapes me. Take that information as you will. I'm more inclined to recommend 3, but I really don't know why. And yeah, end of lifespan consoles rock. I got my PS2 late last summer on the cheap and loved the opportunities that it presented. I'll have to do the same thing with the PS3 in a few years.
  13. PS3 "price drop"?

Hell, if it really is region free, I'd get one from Japan. Even with my current "what the hell are they thinking?" stance towards Sony, that could be well worth it. There's no way I'm paying the North American price though. I think I'll join you in the wait until 2007/8 club.
  14. good PS2 games (for free...uh, me)

Mine has never had a problem, but whatever. I also played Kingdom Hearts without knowing Square. This was not because I didn't have any consoles, but because I didn't have the right consoles. I was far too young to be interested in RPGs on the SNES, and didn't have a Playstation until the PS2, so Square was never on my radar. Nevertheless, I did enjoy KH, but not as much as I could have. The Disney is more prominent than the Square, so if you have a fondness for the movies and shows from back in the day (I'll admit it: I love the Hundred Acre Wood bits) you'll still have a good time with the game.
  15. (Ubisoft) Concept Art

If by successful you mean mildly arousing game developers, then yes. Yes it has.
  16. PS3 "price drop"?

OK, that may be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard from a game-maker. Dumber still is how many people will still buy it. *sigh* Oh yeah, and "there were no plans to lower the price in other markets" so nobody get too excited.
  17. MTV acquires Harmonix

Wan't Guitar Hero already MTV branded? Every time I start it up, I see a distinctive "MTV Games" logo.
  18. Important confession

Heh. Brilliant. My ringtone is just recorded from "Rejected." It's the banana screaming "I am a banana!" Nothing really spectacular, but you should see the looks I get on the train.
  19. The Wii's Launch

For the most part, I think that people just don't know what to do with the Wii, so the first batch of games (with a few notable exceptions) are all compilations of whatever a developer can cobble together to see what will work in the future. It took stuff like Trauma Center, Kirby, Advance Wars, and Nintendogs before people realy started to take the DS seriously and think about what they could base an entire game off of. The same thing needs to happen with the Wii. Innovators will step up, and people will begin to think more about how to actually create unique experiences for the system. Until then, minigames.
  20. XBox 360 videos from TGS

Too fucking much, honestly. (about $500 Canadian) Especially once Live and the wireless reciever are factored in. I'd just gotten my scholarship cheque so I was feeling kinda rich and like it was time for a needless expensive purchase. The 360 had a bunch of stuff I was interested in, and was looking better all the time, so that was what I went for. Came bundled with Gotham Racing 3, if that's your thing. (it really isn't mine, but hell I'll take a free game if they're giving it away)
  21. XBox 360 videos from TGS

I just did last week. Unwisely, I might add. Got Dead Rising and Lego Star Wars II with it and am really enjoying myself, but taking a bunch of extra shifts at work to cover the costs means that I don't get to spend all that much time with it. Oh well. Once I get paid in a week, everything should stabilize once more and I can eat some real food again. Still, it seems like there are few better times that I could have picked to take the plunge for the system.
  22. usb batteries useful for wiimote?

I'm charging my DS with a USB cable right now. Never bothered me at all. Actually allows me to keep it on my desk with my keys and such so I can grab it easily when I'm going somewhere (between classes, train station, etc) that I'd be playing it. Course, with all the stuff I have hooked into my PC, I'm outta ports. Maybe its for the best they don't ship to Canada.
  23. good PS2 games (for free...uh, me)

That's a pretty damn good list there. I'd also say that Gitaroo Man is a must. And if you haven't played it in some other form by now, Lego Star Wars. You implied that you have roommates, and co-op LSW is great fun. Best fighter? Not requiring that much effort to have fun? Find an old copy of Soul Calibur 2. (or 3, though I've never played that one so I can't be too sure) I have spent many a night just playing that with a friend and not noticing that 4 hours have passed.
  24. usb batteries useful for wiimote?

That is really fucking cool. I doubt the Wii control will take just AAs though. I'm thinking it will probably be similar to the 360's wireless controller, which takes AA by default but has a rechargeable pack you can get. Seems like it would make sense to do, as a lot of people will be a little bit pissed about the whole battery thing.
  25. The Wii's Launch

The Wii Play thing that they're planning on selling. The duck hunt and pong type tech demos from E3 that can't really stand on their own bundled together. Sounds like it could be quite fun, especially when first getting a feel for the controller.
