WHA???? Dammit, why did you have to reveal this to me today? I have exams in both Developmental Psychology and Cognitive Psychology in the morning. Well, I guess I'm watching Sam and Max then. Sigh.

In fairness, MS had the same problems with the 360 power supply. Even now, I'm extra careful with that brick. I'm not sure if I still need to be or not, given that mine is from a much more recent production run, but it never hurts to be cautious. EDIT: Sorry, don't know what came over me. Let me rephrase that: LOLZ @ SONY!!!

Not that I really expected more from EA or anything, but c'mon man, you can do better. Also, all the presentations you mentioned simply seem like a bunch of lengthy ads. Not that you're advertising your convention in any particularly annoying way or anything (actually quite courteous, so cheers to you!) but I have to question the process that made you decide to post a large games convention notice on the home of the balls-kneeing-robot. Just saying is all. Oh, and the inclusion of the "BUT I CAN GET TICKETS FOR FREE!!!!111one" kinda sets off spam alarms in my head. That and the recruiting new "ambassadors" bit at the end. Tips for the future.

Still haven't had a chance to play the damn thing, but at least it's on my system now. I watched one of the AI demo games on ultra speed and now I can't wait to play it. Unfortunately, I have exams pretty much daily until this time next week, so my gaming is stunted at the moment. It will however be the first thing I play once I have time to play things.

Yes, yes it is. Plus, there's a tiny wooden pirate in the basement! Love that guy.
-
Of course. That doesn't change the fact that the first thing I thought when I saw the guy was him dipping cartoon characters in paint remover. Maybe it's the red eye from the camera.

Why are you standing next to the bad guy from Roger Rabbit?

Man, I had a solid 3 month addiction to this game when it came out. Hour a day sort of thing. Between that and Guitar Hero, I was set from February through May. Good times. I may need to bust it out again just to see how things are going in the Sanderson house.

Character names can suck and still make for a good game. Look at the names in Pheonix Wright, for god's sake. With a few exceptions, they're all horribly contrived or parodies of some other pop culture name. Game still rocks though. I have no problem with Alan Wake's name as long as the game lives up to it's potential. Honestly, in most cases I'll forget the main character's name by the time I've played through the game anyway.

20 points + stupid baseball metaphor. Yeah, I also got the same question twice. Gunpei Yokoi = gameboy. On the plus side, you actually need to know some Nintendo history to get that one, so I feel less lame than if it had been the Jordan Mechner or John Romero one.

Phil Harrison busts out the doublespeak (again)

Don't forget the fact that it would take fucking forever and be really expensive to make all those textures. -
Preordered it. As I just got off work, it may be a good night to give it a go. Thanks for reminding me it's arrived.

I know, that guitar makes me insanely happy. If I could figure out how to stretch an image across both my monitors rather than just have the same image cropped to fit each one at the same time, that would be my wallpaper. As it is, I'm kinda new to the dual monitor thing and don't know how, but I can dream. That said, that thing better be wireless. Having to worry about plugging it in would suck. Plus, it would automatically be controller #1 if you used it to turn the machine on, allowing you to leave it with your other controllers and not have to mess with stuff just to play a different game. New model SG FTW indeed.

That's true, Godhand does look phenomenal. Clover Studios has yet to dissappoint me as well (Red Hot Rumble never happened, Red Hot Rumble never happened...) so I'm pretty pumped for it. As for FF, I honestly haven't played any of the current gen ones. I've played the older PS1 ones on my PS2 and that was awesome, but I don't quite get what you mean by "is it worth it?"
-
Yes, thank you for reminding us Thrik, there is a new Banjo Kazooie game on the way too! Point taken though. I still have to play Grabbed By The Ghoulies and Kameo, but Rare's other recent offerings haven't been all that fantastic.

As my router is 2 floors away, I sprung for the wifi add on. It cost me about $120 (Canadian, but still, I feel kinda raped) and works just fine. Actually gets a stronger connection than when I try to connect a laptop from the same room. My big question about GHII on 360: Will I be able to co-op jam with people across teh intarweb?
-
Fuck, I've been waiting for this since they announced it. Way to remind me that it's still so far off. Dammit, I'm gonna go play Max Payne for a while or something.
-
So you got to the very last part of the very last mission and stopped? Way to go, man. I played Oblivion for about 4 hours before I decided that there wasn't nearly enough narrative to keep me interested. I playd most games for their story. When I want to roleplay, I play D&D with my friends. It has the benefit of roleplaying with, y'know, friends.

Deformable terrain? That detail slipped by me during all the conferences. I'm suddenly really pumped about the prospects of Excite Truck.

"Game journos go where the wind blows?" aka console war thread #137

That's the reason I finally caved and got a 360. I was skeptical until I tried out Live at a friend's house a couple months back. After that, it was only a matter of time until I got a paycheque large enough for me to consider dropping the cash. Got a raise at the end of August, got a 360 first week of September. I was that convinced. PS3 has yet to show me anything that makes it necessary. I'll admit that the TGS show did give it a bit more lustre in my eyes, but there's still really nothing that great. Everyone is talking about White Dragon, but after watching the vid, I feel kinda underwhelmed by it. Gimme Blue Dragon any day though, looks great. After all these months of Sony fucking up over and over and over, it'll take more than one decent showing to sway me. I'm also having a lot of trouble understanding why the wankosphere (great word, Wrestlevania. I think I'll steal it.) seems to have no long term memory. And any time that the PS3 starts to tempt me, I can always remind myself that Gran Turismo HD is shipping without any fucking cars. By the way, Thrik, proper grammar does not involve writing the name of the person you're addressing twice. -
Can someone explain to me what Halo Wars is? I saw the name on Arcade marketplace, and have started to downlod the trailer, but have no idea what it is. Is this the inevitable Halo RTS surfacing already?
-
I too enjoyed the South Park game. Of course, up till then my entire experience with shooters had been Dark Forces on the PC, (I was 10, give me a break) and when I tried to play it again recently, having remembered it fondly, it was total shit. Still, at the time, I really liked the South Park game. And firing a cow onto my next door neighbour's head as a small child never got old.
-
By gave birth, I mean they left my mouth. I guess you could also say aborted. All four gone now. Still, beside the point. Let us heap praise upon the (apparently quite virile) Wrestlevania and his loving baby-cannon/wife.
-
You'd better be fucking kidding. Then again, it's sadly plausible. Well, I guess Burnout has officially jumped the shark. What's the next series to get all excited about?

For a while there I was torn between getting Maverick Hunters X or Powered Up. Then I just got neither. Still, they're like $20 now, so I may consider it.
