Hmmm... maybe if I stop going to class, I can pick up more than 3 shifts a week. I could be rolling in money! No, probably a bad idea. Thanks, Ben. I'd forgotten that March of the Minis was already out and wanted to pick that one up too. Dammit. This winter is going to involve some very, very tough budget-related decisions.

Yeah, I've had PW2 (Japanese version) preordered for months, so I should have it delievered soon. Aside from that one, I really don't know how I'm going to afford my DS for the next little while. I guess I'll just have to make a list in my head and get things gradually over the next 6 months or so. So much to play... gah.

So I just subscribed to and downloaded Gametap. I couldn't resist. SAM & FREAKIN' MAX! While I wait for the game itself to download, I'm kind of curious as to who else on here may have the service and what they'd reccommend. I browsed around a bit and saw things like Splinter Cell: PT (the one that I missed!) and Uru that I filed in the back of my mind to get later. So: who's got it and what's good?

You'd be amazed the things that I've found on eBay that I would never part with if I'd already owned it. And now I do own them, so I ain't parting. I'll have a look around and see what I can find. Still, it kind of irks me that of the games that people have mentioned are really worthwhile on Gametap, there are only a couple that are both available in Canada and I don't already own. Oh well. Time to try out Pandora Tomorrow and see if it's as good as the other two were.

And I notice she still has yet to respond. Hurry up, Yufster, now we're all curious.

Planescape is on there? Damn, I didn't see it. I've always meant to play it but never got around to it. I'll be sure to make a go at that one. Also have already downloaded the Last Express, as it falls into the same "intended to but never did" category as Planescape. Also downloaded Uru. This should be a good way to catch up on the adventure games that school prevented me from playing. As for Uplink, I bought it direct from introversion for $30 the week before they announced it was coming to Steam for $10. And now I could play it as included in the subscription cost. Sigh. Still worth it, but I can't help but be a little pissed off. Sam and Max was really good. I beat it in about 3 hours, but I enjoyed every bit of it. There was one joke that I actually had to go somewhere else and let myself stop laughing after just so I could get back to playing the game. In retrospect, it was kind of a dumb joke, but Max's timing and delivery were so perfect that it made it brilliant. I'm not sure how much Telltale's going to ask for if you order directly from them, but if it's anywhere near the price of HL2: Ep 1 I'd rate it as better value even though it may be shorter. It's just that awesome to be able to see a really well executed adventure game come out again. EDIT: Crap. Just had a look and Planescape doesn't seem to be on the site. Is it a "coming soon" sort of thing or did I get my hopes up for nothing? EDIT EDIT: Checked their website. Planescape and the Baldur's Gates are on there, but not available in Canada. What the crap?

Would it help if I added that I fucking hate writing in Key 9?

I like Molyneux as an idea man, I just am consistantly dissappointed with his execution. I would absolutely love for him to follow through one of these days, but can't help thinking that he'd be an entirely brilliant consultant to a games company if he would just focus on that aspect.

Careful, man. I know many University professors who are gamers. Hell, when I have dinner with my mom, I always end up playing Xbox with her boyfriend, a tenured professor of economics. Profs game too. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Back on topic, I spent quite a bit of time trying to get my sister into gaming. To some degree, I've been quite successful. When the first thing that she told me about her new boyfriend was that she can totally kick his ass at Super Smash Brothers, I was amazingly proud. For the most part though, it is really about the presentation. Shooters bore her to death, same for fighting games. Monkey Ball, (as many have said) Animal Crossing, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the old LucasArts adventure games, and others of the like are what she really got into. There is one shooter she likes. Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. Why? Well, it's different. No aliens, no army guys, none of that crap. Honestly, it's the same reason I really liked that game. When all you see from shooters are the same things over and over, you get damn sick of those things. When those things don't really appeal to you in the first place (how many 16 year old girls does a WWII game draw in to begin with?) you just don't care about the genre at all. We need more cute games. I say this not just for my sister but for myself as well. I'm completely willing to admit that I love cute games and want to play a lot more of them, and if we want to bring in new people, we can't expect do do it by dressing the same subject matter up in different ways. Xtreme (tm? Possibly?) is what keeps casual gamers (not just girls) from the hardcore gamer demographic, and will eventually kill games unless we really do something about it soon. Problem is, until we can shut up the very, VERY vocal Xtreme minority, we won't change.

You could try and find a PS2 copy? S'what I did...

That's true. I'm actually dictating right now. I'm not even in the room. I have an intercom rigged up near my bed so I can post without leaving it. In reality, it just seems needless. If I'm going to carry a phone, I am going to use it for its intended purpose. To talk to people. Plus, it's more expensive to text on the plan that I have now. Something like 15 cents a message, versus unlimited talking. I know people who become dependant on the text and end up ramping their phone bill up quite significantly at "only" 15 cents a message. It all adds up and just doesn't seem worth it.

Recently got a chance to check out Infamous, a new Capote biopic. Same story as last year, but I think I like this version better. Dunno why, but it's really damn good.

I never said I had any grief with Sunshine. I even said that it was a really good game. The gameplay was even still pretty Mario-ish. (Camera sucked, but that was the only downside) I think the only reason that it didn't feel like Mario was that you never really had anything other than a tropical island to adventure on. Every other Mario game had you going from lush islands to jagged mountains to underwater worlds to the insides of volcanoes. Sunshine just had you touring around different locales in a resort town. That's my only problem with the game.

I hate cell phones as well. I grudgingly carry one becuase my younger sister is often left on her own and I'm her back up in an emergency. I absolutely refuse to activate the text messaging on it though. I will never, so help me God, text someone on a phone which is perfectly capable of sending speech.

Hmmm... was up late finishing an essay and still not dead after sleeping. Maybe I just didn't sleep long enough to finish me off? We'll see tomorrow I guess.

2 GH Videos! Guitar Hero II strutter expert with fingering!, and playing cross arm

Thanks, Tommy! My multiplayer sessions always felt kinda crap because no one else would play on Expert with me. I'd end up yawning through a song on Medium so my companion could have a good time. Sounds like I need to gather up the ol' gang and get me some co-op going on. -
From what I've seen, it actually looks more like traditional Mario than Sunshine was. That's not saying a whole lot, honestly. Sunshine was good, don't get me wrong, but not really Mario. At least Galaxy is bringing it back a bit. I'm definitely going to get it, so I'll hold off judgement until then, but there's my impression for you.

What if I just kind of skimmed over the chant and didn't actually read the whole thing? Am I still going to be attacked by generic-japanese-horror-flick girl?
-
Fair enough. As long as you're not constantly asking people who wear watches, I got no beef with you.
-
I'm more worried about the milky pirate...

You're one of them? It gets pretty irritatng when 70% of your friends ask you for the time every 5 minutes or so because you're the only one who bothers to put on a watch when you leave the house.

Ok, just got the demo. (finally) Holy shit this is great. I've played all of the songs a bunch, and gotten 5 stars on those that are not YYZ. For some reason I can't seem to clear 90000 points on that one. Still, my god. I'll be playing this all weekend. Anybody know if you can have co-op working if you plug in a second controller?
