I'm in. Sounds like a cool idea, hope it pans out for them. The only major problem I can see arising is simply forgetting to log in and do things. With sporadic games like this, I'll often start, think "OK, so I'll log in again tomorrow" and then just never remember to. Hopefully when I come back online tomorrow this thread will remind me to go check on my guy. And I'll admit it. I chuckled a bit at "unobtanium."

Shogun never really grabbed me and as such the Total War games have always kinda been off my radar. I'll admit that seeing that box set and remembering review scores tempted me, but then I thought about whether I'd ever really play it and resisted. Has the formula been drastically changed/improved since the early days or is it still basically the same game? If it's been switched around in a slightly more involving way, I may try and get into it in the near future.

Gasp! Not only can I finally load up Psychonauts on my 360, but bust out my copy of DOA Ultimate when drunk on New Years! A better drunken fighting game, I've yet to find. Also, anyone else try out Assault Heroes on Live Arcade? I had 1000 MS points that I wasn't going to spend on anything else, and the game is getting generally nice reviews so far so I grabbed it. Not bad. Won't replace Lumines and Geometry Wars as my most played Live games, but I can see the co-op lasting me and a friend through a few "so what are we going to do?" type nights.

Well, DQ8 certainly managed to be incredibly beautiful despite a lack of technical wizzardry. If Phantom Hourglass can effectively make a beautiful cell shaded game on the DS, I'm looking forward to the style of this one too. Never really been that into RPGs, but the DQ games that I've played have always managed to keep me happy. So, y'know, w00t.

Oh man, now I may need to get a US copy too. That's one of the best free bobbles I've ever heard. Do you get it if you order in-store?

Rayman RR was really damn good. If minigames aren't your thing, I can see it being a bit of a turn off, but that and Wii Sports have become the games that I use to show people the Wii. And later I always, always have people asking me about "That really fun bunny game." Tech demo, perhaps, but the minigames are far more consistent than those in Monkey Ball (which has a great main game, don't get me wrong) and the graphics are incredibly charming.

Oh man, Asteroids would be awesome. In all seriousness, of the ideas thrown out so far, that one is the one I'd be most likely to do myself.

This seems like the most appropriate place to say this so: GLEE! GUNSTAR HEROES got added to the Wii VC today! :woohoo:

Yeah, in Canada your best bets are Montreal and Vancouver. Elsewhere is mostly a barren wasteland for games, with occasional exceptions like Bioware in Edmonton. Toronto probably has a couple of studios as well, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Yeah, looks just like my apartment right now. Well, ok. There's less red on my walls, but the scenery is similar.

My copy still hasn't fucking arrived. Stupid eBay buying. Judging by their shipping date, it'll be showing up at my house right in the middle of exams. At least I'll have time to finish Zelda. *sigh*

I do love our beer, and it won't be nearly the "man, this stuff is shit" sort of reaction you'd have if you had to switch to US beer. He isn't lying about the winters though. The prairies are even worse. It was -40 for about a week last month. During the summer, +40. That's a fucking 80 degree celcius swing over the course of 6 months. Still, you don't need to be outside for games (Boktai excluded) so it's not that bad. In short: Canada needs YOU!

I bought some form of bundle that came with the download for both and then they shipped the games to me on disc right after. Now have both digital distro and hard copy versions of the games. For the low low price of whatever they were charging. Works for me. Although the ship time was kind of shit, it didn't matter for me because I already had the download. For gift purposes, you may want to rush it.

I'm pretty sure that Mecha-Hitler would not only earn the approval of any girls you happen to bring over, but actually attract new ones. You'd go out to get a carton of milk or something and when you came home there'd be like 10 girls all fawning over your walls and ready for love.

Dear god, just think where home theater technology would be without Troma movies and the Porn industry. ...and cavemen fucking on walls. Whatever. twmac, I've found that the best way to explain Future Shop to non-Canadians is "What they call Best Buy to try and fool us."

True, it can feel a bit out of place. It really depends on the reference. The SoaP stuff was dumb, but referencing "The intertubes" just shows how out of touch Stephen Colbert the character really is. You'd have to specifically say which phenomenon he was refering to in order to judge it.
-
And flip Sony to "Dead to me" I'm pretty sure Colbert is a huge geek. Every journalist who had no idea what a Wii was called it a "video game" so he played along, but the D&D (I believe a D20 was placed on his bookshelf late last year) is a pretty good giveaway. Also, if I recall correctly, back when A History of Violence was released and Mortensen was on the Daily Show, he brought a chocolate Aragorn for Colbert, as he's a crazy LoTR fan. Convinced?

w00t. I'm in.

Those aren't Nazis? Granted, I've only seen the trailer from the booth, which means I can't hear a damn thing, but I could've sworn that it took place during the French occupation. Whatever. It still has yet to hit my city, and I'm pretty interested to check it out. Should be here in a little less than a month.

Yeah, while I can see the above effect being true, taking the statements of fanboys on forums in aggregate is probably not the best way to figure out consumer trends.

It's all about Gunstar. And I'll throw in some agreement with n0wak as well. NHL 94 brings back many fond memories for me. (although I was playing it on an SNES)
-
It's been running at my theater the last two weeks. Kinda cliched sometimes, and the message is pretty heavy handed but overall it's definitely worth seeing. If only they wouldn't harp so much on "live in the moment" and let the story stand more often, it'd be full-out amazing.

I can be the dude hitting the drum so all the little coders type in time. Man, that must be one sweet company.

From what I've heard, Just Cause isn't really worth playing on any system. It's odd, but for me the turning point was seeing Lego Star Wars 2 in HD. It's not a graphically intense game at all, but seeing those crisply animated and shiny lego guys running around just made me insanely happy. By contrast, my copy of LSW 1 on the PS2 is great, but something just seems really off now when I play it. Graphics are a less important thing than gameplay or fun, of course. Thing is, if you have the choice between the same game, pixelated to the point of distraction or fucking gorgeous, which would you choose? Yeah, there's a $10 difference, but I've found that getting 360 games off eBay will normally result in a sane (read: same as last generation) price.

Yeah, 'cause that 9/9/99 thing worked soooo well for Sega. I'll bet other companies can't wait to recreate that. (not knocking the Dreamcast, just the fact that it died)
