Yeah, it's pretty linear. If you though, you're still really early in the game. Once you the world becomes yours to explore. Much like Ocarina, the game doesn't really get going until you've cleared the third dungeon. There's never any question of where the game wants you to go, of course. The next temple is always hung tantalizingly above your head. You don't have to go there though. There's heart pieces to find! Quivers and bomb bags to expand! Sometimes just riding around Hyrule on horseback and getting into fights with boar-riding goblins is its own reward. And don't forget to get all four bottles. Don't really know why. Honestly, two is plenty. I just don't feel right about calling a Zelda game "done" unless I have all the bottles.

Hmmm... I didn't realize the 360 lets you do background downloads now. That removes one of my biggest problems with Live right there. Thanks for letting me know.

Back and forth. Forever. Love that movie. Good on Schafer for recommending it.

PS3 also appears to be getting Gripshift now, which is cool. I don't mind the VC interface, except for the separate channels thing. It's slow, yeah, but I'm still hoping that's just because of the novelty causing a flood of traffic. I can't see what's so bad about the UI. You can list by system, release, or alphabetically. Hell, there's even decent descriptions of all the games, something you don't get on Live. Each game getting its own channel does suck though. As I've never had a Sega and was really too young to be able to afford the games I'd have liked to have played on the SNES, I'm now playing catch up for the ones that I missed back in the day. The Wii has 4 pages of channels to fill. I've got three quarters of one full already and that's just my picks of the few games that they have now. This is three quarters of a separate page. I keep my Wii icons on page one and my VC games on page two. I can easily see myself running out of space long before the end of 2007. I would love some kind of organizer, or maybe just a channel for each system. Click here for Genesis, click here for NES, etc. Then a little list of all the games you have for that system. As for Live, it's nice to be able to load up Geometry Wars or Lumines without getting off the couch and swapping disks. Other than that, it's doesn't seem to be living up to the potential that was one of the driving forces behind my 360 purchase. I appreciate what's there and everything, but as you said, they could really stand to throw out some more frequent updates. Hopefully now that XNA is out, more stuff will start to surface and it'll come into its own.

Well, as the last time I'm seeing this friend before Christmas is tomorrow, I went ahead and got it for him already. Hope he gets into it, but if it's as you say then it should be safe. He's been crazy over Garry's mod since day one, and he's always designing new creations in it when he gets the chance. I figured a game that's essentially a gravity gun mixed with Katamari would be a good bet, and fingers are crossed. Now to wait until the new year when I'll have the cash to get it for myself.

Damn. Now I'm really looking forward to it. Stupid several weeks until local release...

The US vs John Lennon is an interesting little film. Basically a documentary focusing on the political struggles between Lennon and the Nixon administration. Lots of cool little factoids contained therein, and I enjoyed the time in the theater. One that I'm kind of looking forward to that's coming up pretty shortly is The Last King of Scotland with Forest Whittaker as Idi Amin. Anyone had a chance to check it out at festivals or suchlike? Wouldn't mind hearing some opinions on it.

Sony continues to simply rock, PS3 delayed again in Europe?
miffy495 replied to Kolzig's topic in Video Gaming
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Damn, y'know despite all my hate for Sony, it was going to take a hell of a lot of willpower to keep from buying a PS3 for MGS4 when it came out. I am pleased. -
It's longer than any previous Zelda yet I beat it in less time than any of the others (and yeah, I've played all of them) so that says something for the quality. On the other hand, I really miss Wind Waker style. I don't know if I'm fully willing to call it the best, but it definitely is in the running. Some of the later dungeons are amazingly creative and took me completely by surprise. One of the better games I've played in a long while. So good.

Guitar Hero II (are the song selections localized?)
miffy495 replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Impressive. Mine was just kind of something I came up with on a whim and decided I like, yours has that subtext that makes it that much more appealing. -
Or maybe even "pulling the car back onto the cliff," eh Duncan?

Guitar Hero II (are the song selections localized?)

Cash stays constant among one band and is not shared among profiles. Really, it's not that big a deal. You can change your band's name any time you want (Hobocide has now rocked across both Guitar Heroes, and will continue to do so into the forseeable future) as well as guitarist and guitar. There's no real reason to have multiple profiles unless you have multiple players. And hopefully, the other players are able to earn the cash on their own. Medium isn't too bad, although I highly recommend beating all of easy first. Working up to expert takes a while, and you gotta go in steps. In GH 1, it took me about 8 months between starting I Love Rock n' Roll on easy and finishing Bark At The Moon on expert. Practice practice practice, man. -
I played Grid Wars for a while, and it was a pretty fun game. First thing I did when I got my Xbox was buy Geometry Wars though. Honestly, I much prefer the real deal. The frantic craziness of it is a total rush once you get deep into it.

idkfs Or not. Really living forever would kind of suck. It'd be great for a while, but what the hell would you do with yourself after a few centuries? As for the books, I think I'd rather keep 'em. Being not a computer dependant person (career and life direction wise. That doesn't mean that I don't love my compy.) all my essential things are kept in some hard format. I'd lose a few phone numbers that I can't be bothered to remember off of my cell phone, and a few essays and such from school. Still, I can always rewrite an essay, and if I have someone's number that I want to call, odds are I can get the info from them in some other way.

Very yes. Although Far Cry apparently does not have the energy and humour of that ad. Here's to the Rabbids becoming the new Ubi mascots!

Heh. G Money is awesome. I've made a father and son duo with upside down faces, Esrever Jr. & Sr. They're set to mingle, so they may make their way over sometime in the near future. Oh, and Loonyboi, you're added so maybe they'll wander your way as well. They aren't really anything special, but they amuse me.

From what the guy at Roger's Video was telling me (They got a [yes, singular] wiimote in today, and I grabbed it) the city of Calgary got 300 PS3s. That's for just over a million people. Granted, not every one of that million is going to want one, but from what I've heard that seems to be about the standard ratio. 1000000:300. Here's hoping that whenever it's released, Europe can beat that. -
Hmmm... my plan to wait until this started filling up does not appear to be working. As such, I gave up on that and just added the both of you at once. Let's see some more numbers, Thumbs. Got something against wandering Miis?

Well, I beat RR in a couple of days, so the unlock gripe isn't really that big a deal. It's not like it's hard to get the stuff. I can only see it really popping up if you bought the game on the way to a friend's house and were just getting it out of the shrink wrap before going for some party play. Here's something to help you avoid sifting through Monkey Ball. For some reason, I find Monkey Darts really addictive. And of course Monkey Wars manages to have superior shooter control to Red Steel, so that's a fun one too if you have a bunch of controllers. (I have 2, so does a friend of mine, so 4 player deathmatch becomes viable when we hang out.)

Just like Time Pilot, if you ask me.

Heh. Thanks, haven't read a Maddox rant in a while. That was a pretty damn good one. -
Just saw Fuck. Not a bad little documentary. Basically a history of the word and various censorship movements over the years. Nothing revolutionary, but a good time. And animation by Bill Plympton, so throw a win in that column.

Well, I wouldn't call what they've had in the rest of the world a "release" yet anyway. I think Q4 2007 will be when anyone who isn't crazy devoted will get their hands on one at the earliest. As such, I wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment. Maybe if North America and Japan start getting decent sized shipments, there'll be something to go on. In the meanwhile, almost no one has a PS3, it's just more official in Europe. -
No play on Phantom? C'mon. Think of all the things you could use. To list a few: Random Bran-bum Fans Dumb etc. What? I have an exam tomorrow and it's this or study. Procrastination FTW.

Just watched the vid. That is awesome. Where do I get that ringtone? I really want to have that be my default now.
