I booted up my Wii this morning to see two familiar agents and one gifted young lad. Thank you, sir. They are indeed impressive renditions.

Yup, that's him. Glad you've played it, it's kind of a staple around here. As for difficulty, I was never really challenged at all by any enemy right up until the final boss. Even then, I was able to take him out with fully half of my hearts remaining. The odd puzzle was tricky, but after Wind Waker, were you really expecting any of the combat to be that tough? I've heard mixed reactions, with a few friends thinking that it's a lot harder than it has been, but I just don't see it.

Oh. God. DAMMIT. ...thanks.
-
That sounds pretty good. When did it air and what channel did it air on? I'm surprised I've never heard of it, as I try to keep up on the Canadian shows. (Still pissed they cancelled This is Wonderland...)

It was startlingly appropriate...

Yeah, Worms looks awesome. 'Course, my favorite's always been Armageddon (regardless of opinions on the series, it was the first one I played so it has a special place in my heart) but Worms 2 is an awesome addition to Xbox. Space Giraffe is one of those games that I hear about, get really psyched for, and then forget it the next day. Still, as soon as it hits, I'm buying. I just wish they'd finally tell us a date so I can start getting excited.

You shouldn't say that there are spoilers unless you're sure they're true. For example, there is a twist with Midna, but it's not a betrayal. And you gain the ability to teleport anytime soon after finishing the Water Temple. It's a bonus to being able to turn into a wolf and back at will. And there are some minor sidequests (I wasn't even looking for sidequests and just stumbled across 'em) that allow you to get 3 bomb bags (one for each type) with double capacity. That's not to piss all over your criticisms or anything. Some of them are really valid. Particularly the backtracking. Right before the sky temple there a bit where you have to find statues over Hyrule. This is no problem, as there's a warp point near most of 'em, but there's one that's a pain. It's located opposite a bridge from a warp point. A bridge that crumbles early in the game. The only course of action is to ride in a semi-circle across the top of the map from Hyrule castle to a point just NW of Hyrule castle. Also Midna's hints suck. There were a few times I found myself standing at an impassible obstacle right outside where I wanted to go and all Midna will tell me is "Hey, don't you want to go here?" Stupid bitch... As for the remote sword control, it's a matter of opinion. I really didn't move that much when I was playing, but there were a couple of boss fights where I'll admit it felt really good to be able to stand up and, while swinging my arm down in anger, say "Die" *slice* "you" *slice* "son" *slice* "of" *slice* "a" *slice* "BITCH!" *monster dies* Mmmm... vented anger feels really good in Zelda.

OK, so I got a buncha gift certificates from siblings (being child #4 of 5 has its benefits sometimes...) and hit the EB today. Walked away with Every Extend Extra and Elite Beat Agents, as I felt that my portables hadn't been getting any love lately what with the Wii attracting all the attention. As this is the DS thread: Elite Beat Agents. Holy crap. Ok, so it's just more of the same if you've played Ouendan, but what the hell is wrong with that? My only complaint is that the track selection includes a number of songs that irritate me to no end. Inane lyrics abound. Still, the gift of the rhythm genre is its ability to make you enjoy a song that you hate by having something really fun to do while you listen to it. EBA succeeds spectacularly in this. If I ever choose to listen to Avril Lavigne in a setting that isn't EBA, I'll put a bullet in my head. Somehow though, the game makes it so that it's just another beat to tap along to. On the plus side, there are also a few good songs, so I'll let it alone. It's a varried mix, at any rate. I have a feeling that this really isn't as different from Ouendan as my gut tells me it is. After all, Ouendan had a really diverse selection of J-pop too, I just couldn't get pissed off by inane lyrics because I couldn't understand them. If you can let yourself ignore some of the crap songs and just get into the game, it's the same game underneath. And it's still so damned fun. Reggie was sad that people weren't buying it, so I've now done my part. Check it out if you see it.

Actually, I forgot about Exit. That's one that I really liked. As for the others on your list, Katamari was good, but derivitive. Wipeout, well, I don't really like racing games, so there's no interest there. Lemmings is good, but frankly feels like it wore out its welcome a long time ago. They just can't recapture the original magic. MGS: PO and Gunpey I am interested in, but as they just came out recently and I haven't had a chance/the disposable income to pick them up yet, I can't say one way or the other. Today's purchase of EEE was the result of a tough choice between those three actually. Lumines 2 was also tempting, but I have the original and Xbox 360 versions, so I can wait a while for it. I have nothing against my PSP, I quite like it. It's a very slick piece of hardware. I just wish that after almost two years, there were more than 7 (perhaps 9 once I've played MGS and Gunpey) games that I could wholeheartedly reccommend. Compare that to the DS, on which (with only 3 months more time on the market) there are so many good games to choose from that it can feel overwhelming when you go up to that section of the store. That said, I just spent about 3 hours zoning out with EEE. Damn, it's good. Time flies with that game. Takes a bit to get the hang of, but I think I'm catching on. Plus I get to use my new Sennheiser HD 555s (fucking awesome christmas present!) with a Mizuguchi game, so all is right with the world.
-
Yeah, got it for Lumines and GTA last August. Since then, the only other things I've found worth playing have been the MGAs and Loco Roco. Oh, and I imported Gitaroo Man, but as it's an import, I don't count it.

Well, I figured they'd make average something like 5'8", and I'm 6'3" so yeah, I adjusted the height. Dunno what you consider "giant" though. I do mess with the height on all Miis I create, if that's what you mean.
-
Hey now, not so fast. I used a gift certificate to pick up Every Extend Extra earlier today. Haven't played it yet, but dammit it's Mizuguchi.
-
Metroid probably, Elebits not really. It's online, but all you can do is send created maps to other players, there's no real time multiplay. I've now got everyone on here added except for Tanu, who will be added when I get home from work tomorrow. Grats on landing one.

Grah! Stupid Buzzlegums. Screw it, maybe I'll just buy some honey. I could never get them to go inside the honey-maker thing anyway. I'd direct them to it and they'd just sit on top. Thanks, man.

It's not the age, it's the demographic. We likes us them weird/indie/quirky games here. Of course, big name games are loved too, but if you don't know PW, there'll probably be a few games that we just rave about every now and then that you're unfamiliar with. Check 'em out if you have the opportunity, as you've just proven that they could use the exposure. On a similar note, whatever happened to Karimi's "Joining Idle Tumbs" guide? EDIT: Ah. Here it is.

Normally I get sick of these open world games (Animal Crossing, the Sims, etc) in which there is no defined goal pretty quickly. Something about this one keeps drawing me in though. Maybe it's that the game is always taunting me by having new creatures show up on the borders of my garden but never quite coming in until I figure out what they want. That seems to be keeping me focused and driven. Maybe it's the thought that I can convert the evil sour pinatas to the side of good with the proper actions. I really don't know. It's pretty awesome, at any rate.
-
Can't seem to get a Crowla to stay. I converted a Sour Shellybean, but that's the only sour I've brought in so far. I've got the birdbath, but I can't figure out where I'm supposed to find medicine. It isn't in any of the shops and doesn't seem like the kind of thing I can grow. I've tried wounding one while the doctor is on call for something else, then telling the doctor to fix the Crowla too. Unfortunately, when I say I want to heal the Crowla, it won't let me select it. What's the tech for getting a bottle of medicine down the bastard's throat? Oh, and the Buzzlegum/Raisant holy war has ended, albeit forcibly. I gave up and sold all my Buzzlegums. If those assholes want to keep starting shit with the other Pinatas, they can damn well do it in someone else's garden. My garden is a place of tranquility and harmony, and no amount of honey is worth giving that up.
-
Cool, thank you. Now that I can get all the games at once for like $60, I may do that.

Yay! People are introducing themselves! Welcome, new people. Didn't mean to come off sounding paranoid or anything, I just like to know who I'm adding. Oh, and Roalin, this forum doesn't care if you say "shit." Just remember not to abuse this fact and you'll find it quite nice to not constantly be having to dodge censor-bots.

You want cutesy? How's geek cutesy for ya? Earlier this month we had to put one of my cats down. He was 18 and had been diabetic for 5 years, so it was a long time coming. These details are not important though. What was important was his name. I had a cat named Thorndike. If you know psychology at all, you'll get it.

Personal Game of 2006: Rhythm Tengoku For me, what we have here is the GBA's swan song. In a year full of my long standing obsession with rhythm games, this crazy little Japanese import became the most obsessed over and played title, besides a very obvious choice which rhymes with Bitter Nero. However, plastic frets and a general feeling of intense rock-itude could not compete with the quirkiness and portability of this game. Also, being simpler to grasp than Ouendan, I had many people around me asking to play it. While Ouendan was a fantastic game, this accessibility puts RT into the lead. If you've got a gameboy advance or DS, have the ability to import, and enjoy music games even a little bit, you need to check this one out. Runners Up Guitar Hero 2 Yeah, yeah. I know. You all saw it coming. I've played this at least an hour a day since it came out, and played the first the same amount leading up to it. I'm an addict, but I'm ok with it. At least it's less dangerous than heroin. Right? RIGHT? Dead Rising This, combined with Lego Star Wars 2, convinced me to buy a 360, making it one of the biggest influences on my gaming over the latter half of this year. It's great fun and the many, many ways to kill zombies still delight all these months later. Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! Again with the rhythm love. This was not only the first title I've been compelled to import, but also the first thing I put on my first credit card. Go me. Addictive. Crazy. The perfect amount of challenge. There really aren't enough superlatives to describe how fun this game is. Chibi Robo I'll end the list with what will probably go down as the last thing I ever played on my GCN. As such, this is more of a sentimental pick than anything else. The game was fantastic, don't get me wrong, but it would not hold its current position were it not for the significance of this achievement. Farewell, little purple box of joy. My Wii now runs your games in progressive scan, leaving you unplugged and on display on my bookshelf next to your cousin Virtual Boy. You had a good run, GCN. Don't let any of those other mean consoles tell you otherwise. They're just bullies, all insecure about their own games and such. Honourable Mention: The Bitgenerations series Things I Wish I'd Played: Okami, Elite Beat Agents, Bully, Splinter Cell DA

I grew up out in the middle of nowhere with a large former farmhouse and no livestock. Naturally, I ended up growing up with 7 cats. I love those little buggers. I can't stand to live in a house that doesn't have a cat. Best pets ever.

Thank you, I'd been wondering that myself. I've added these people on the basis that I can delete them later if they turn out to be dicks. I'm willing to give all of you a chance, that's fine. Please though, at least post in a couple of other threads. Talk a bit, let us know you. Establish yourselves a little. Welcome aboard, but there's more than this thread here. It seems like threads like this would be a perfect way to advertise to gullible people. Get their friend code, spam their Wiis. I'm hoping that this isn't any of you new folk. Please look around and contribute rather than just adding us and hoping we add you. The chances of being added will go up significantly if you turn out to be someone who can participate meaningfully in a conversation.

OK, got the Buzzlegums. 4 of them, in fact. Can I stop them from killing Raisants, or is their holy war destined to carry on in the battlefield of my garden for centuries to come? And for the record, I found the Buzzlegum romance dance hilarious. Not as good as the Squazzil dance, (Backflips using the other's tail as a springboard? How can you top that?) but awesome nonetheless. Is there any way to call these up for later viewing? I think some friends of mine are going to need proof of how funny this game can be, and I'd like to show some of these to them.

Yeah, that ".us" thing is a real pain in the ass, eh? For those who haven't tried it yet, anytime you try to type a period into the wii text box it autocompletes it as ".us," thus forcing you to either live with it or go back and erase over and over. I'm sticking with my keyboard from here out.
