It's a kickass rail shooter from Treasure (Gunstar, Ikaruga, Astroboy, etc) for the N64. Never came out outside of Japan though. hmmm... Now that I think about it, has anyone figured out a workaround for the Wii like the things that let you download Xbox live and Sony Online games from other regions?
-
Ah yes, but in which regions? If this comes to North America I'll be pretty pumped. I'll wait for that news before getting too excited though. Still, awesome.

Can you lament being unlamented? Like, you know you should lament something, but you just can't and you lament that fact. I like my job. Most people there are reasonably intelligent.
-
Actually, I ordered that as well. I've never really heard anything but good about it. Don't expect it to arrive until after the others though, so I didn't include it. Still, soon.

Waaaaaay back in the day, (we're talking like, I was 13 years old) I was looking for some like-minded adventure gamers. Everyone else in my Jr high was playing Team Fortress Classic and Day of Defeat while I was digging up old copies of the LucasArts adventure games and loving them. This was around 2000/2001. I started to seek out forums and sites devoted to classic adventure games and found myself enjoying Mixnmojo. I became a forum member there (under a different name) and took part in discussions for a couple of years. Of course, being 13 I had yet to reach a level of discourse many would find fitting to an intelligent forum, but I tried. When the Thumb was formed, I followed along to see what the mojo writers would do on the new site. (I'm looking at you, Spaff...) As such, I've been reading this site since it came into existence, but it took a while before I decided to join up with the forums here. Two years after registering, here I am. ...And yeah, I just turned 19. I have no idea what the average age on this forum is, but I get the feeling I'm on the young-ish side of things.

Well, life continues to roll along as expected. 2007 contains no big (planned) changes for me. 3rd year of Uni, picking up an extra job (or two) over the summer to afford a 4th year. Still working at the theater into the forseeable future. 'Course, shit can always change fast, so I won't make any definitive statements. Gaming wise, looks good. The Xbox and Wii both look promising, though not a lot major seems to be coming out for a while yet. In order to get me through the post-christmas drought, I found a Dreamcast second hand for about $35. First Sega console I've ever owned, (is the Game Gear a console? I don't usually count handhelds the same way) sorry to admit. As such, I'll be catching up on some old fashioned 99/00/01 goodness. Starting with eBayed copies of Jet Grind Radio and Samba De Amigo. Yay for cheap, 7 year old used games! All the gaming I have the time for, but a fraction of the price of playing the new releases!

Taking holiday / pulling sickies specifically to play games

Squeaky clean here. Although I've postponed many a paper or whatnot in order to play games, I've always simply not slept that night in order to get whatever it was done at a later hour. When the Wii came out, I wasn't working Sundays anyway. If I was, I think I would've taken it off, but there you have it. -
Depends how attached you are to Disney and/or square. I played it because it was cheap, mostly. It's not a bad game by any means. The camera and jumping is a bit irritating, but mostly it's competently done. It's just not really as fantastic as all the huge fans would have you believe unless you're really into either of the universes involved. For me it was fun, but nothing particularly jaw-dropping. I will admit though, that there was something so damned soothing about playing around in the Hundred Acre Wood for a little while after a really shit day at work or uni. On the other hand, the shitty jumping puzzles in the Alladin level almost made me quit entirely.

Well, if we're going that direction... The Rez vibrator, cumming stateside soon! Rainbow 6 Vegas, whoring itself legally this winter!

A sly reference sir, well done.

Wait, so how'd you get the old avatar to blink then? And how does Yufster's animate? I'm now very confused.
-
Heh. Check out this video from the worst game everyone played award from Gamespot. Gave me a nice little chuckle.
-
Damn, that's too bad. The others were more entertaining, but he always had some kind of projection of credibility that they seemed to lack, or at least have less of.
-
Damn. I watched your avatar for about a minute and a half hoping one of the dots would blink red.
-
Nice. Opens here in two and a bit weeks. Can't wait.

Yeah, 2 definitely did grab me less than 1 did. Like you, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Thing is, I played the first one obsessively, trying to unlock everything that I could, until I was sure I had 100%. With 2, I stalled around 70% a few months back and really haven't gone back except for an hour here and there to see if I could grab something extra. The levels seem unnecessarily long, for one thing. Luke's jedi training in particular dragged for quite a bit. I would've preferred that the chapters were shorter, and maybe a couple more per film. Objectively, 2 was the better game. Just seemed less enthralling though. At any rate, I'm looking forward to what Traveler's Tales can do with the Batman franchise...

Thank you sir, I'dve fed it through a translator, but we all know how well that crap usually works out.
-
Here's one that I threw together in about 10 minutes. Just a mash up of concept art from the two games I seem to be playing most right now. I figure if the Elebits really wanted to lash out, they could do so much more than unplug our toasters.

I didn't mean any kind of real deep friendship. That's damned, damned hard to come anywhere near if you never see the person. Just that you kind of know these people so you can relax more when playing with them. That's the main draw. (And I got that the thanks was for me. It was your PS question that I thought was intended for Ysbreker)
-
Uhhh... for those of us who don't read Dutch, mind posting a quick translation? The following is completely off topic, not really a spoiler of any kind. More a tangent about learning languages.
-
While that was probably intended for Ysbreker, I'll give my answer too, as I feel similarly about not adding total strangers. Maybe it's really not as important on the Wii as it is on the Xbox. The absence of voice chat makes you less likely to be irritated by some 10 year old Halo freak. Still, I always prefer to be playing with people that I know. There's already a bit of camaraderie between you, and you know that when you lose there will soon be a rematch and thus a chance to regain your honour. It's a good way to make accquaintances into decent friends, as a little healthy competition tends to do. Maybe I'm weird like that. Back in the CS days, my friends and I would just set up private servers and play each other. I really developed a taste for playing with people I know. Whenever I go online with total strangers it just feels hollow. I'll never hear from this person again, and I have no idea how to treat them now. They may be perfectly fine if I were talking as if I were playing Settlers drunk with my friends. They may, on the other hand, be some very young kid who doesn't know what half the words I use mean, and knows that the other half is amazingly offensive. So there's that extra element of caution keeping you reserved and from fully enjoying yourself. Essentially, playing with friends (and even recent but "got a good feeling about this guy" accquaintances) is just more relaxing and rewarding for me than playing with strangers. Less inhibitions, less pretense, more fun. I'm not against adding any of these new arrivals, but if I get a PM saying "add me," (as I now have on a couple of occasions) I'll send a PM right back saying "first let me get a feel for your personality." Is that so much to ask?
-
I ran into a guy I went to Jr High with earlier today. He got out of jail two weeks ago. I think I like your story better.
-
i) Possible. Personally though, I just haven't had a chance to add the latest batch of people to put up numbers yet, so you'll be added tonight when I get home from work. ii) That's the idea. Although Pokemon Battle Revolution's release in Japan actually has it's own separate code in the game that's different from system codes. You may in fact have to do this for each new game. On the upside, having people already available to send messages to means that you can just send your code straight from Wii to Wii without having to fuck around with forums like this.

Nope, but now I'm interested...
-
So: It's out. Anyone tried it yet? I'm interested, but my birthday is a week away and Christmas is right after that, so I'm holding off on making any purchases until post-boxing day. From IGN's review it sounds like it has an almost Katamari vibe to it, which is actually making me consider getting it for a friend for Christmas. He and his girlfriend have introduced me to people in the past as "This guy has the best collection of games that you've never heard of" and it would seem fitting that I get them something enjoyable that they've never heard of. Problem is, I won't be able to play it before getting it for them, so I won't have any first hand knowlege of whether it really is that enjoyable. So yeah. What's the word? People liking/disliking/indifferent to the game? It's one I've been keeping an eye on for a while and I'd like to hear what the thumbs think.
