  1. All the Zelda Games?! More like MODERATED FTW

The shield is in the store. You just fucking buy it. tbh, I wouldn't have ever gotten the sword as early as I had if I hadn't watched a friend do the same before getting the game. The intro really is slow and kinda dull. Once you hit the dungeons and get going though, it's really good. I'm wondering about your control complaints though. It's always been great for me. How are you playing it on your PC? USB contol pad? Keyboard? I'm going to assume for the time being that your control gripes stem from the fact that you aren't using a GNC or N64 pad with it. Graphics I never had a problem with. I'm actually replaying it right now on my Wii (currently in Water Temple) and still think it's held up pretty well. Of course, the GCN disk that I'm using for it supports progressive scan Zelda, so perhpas that helps. Still, even when I played it on my cube without the 480p support, still looked good. If you give it another chance and still don't like Ocarina, I'd just skip out on Majora completely. Wind Waker was great though, and Twighlight Princess was also pretty damned good. Sorry to those who think that TP is the best one, but after seeing what the cell shading in WW can do, going back was a dissappointment for me. Then again, you could just fall into that camp that liked 2D Zelda but not 3D. I love both, but there are many who don't. If you only give one more Zelda a shot, go for Minish Cap. You seem to be a 2D fan, and that's a very, very good one. Not LTTP good, but close.
  2. Remo Extremo™ VS Our House...

Among (aside from Thumbs) who? Does the legend of Extremo extend to shack and beyond, or is he just "Remo" outside of this site?
  3. Ritual is no more

Apparently. I for one am sad to see them go. Though SiN Episode 1 was really nothing special, it was a solid and fun little FPS that started to get me pumped about episodic gaming back before Half Life or Sam and Max really sold me on the idea. I was hoping that Episode 2 would be a similar experience to the first, allowing me to blow off some steam and shoot crap up for a while as I waited for the next big game release. Doesn't look like that'll ever happen now. Farewell, Ritual. I'm sorry your planned story was cut so short.

Have and love subsistence. Never played the original, oddly. Started with Ac!d on the PSP, as I'd heard good things about Metal Gear and was desparate for something worth playing on that little black brick. After that, Twin Snakes followed by the rest of the series in order. That was a good couple of months. I gotta replay them again sometime soon. Probably in anticipation of 4 when they finally announce that it's hitting 360.
  5. finally, a game for 360 that interests me

I liked Assault Heroes, although it didn't last me very long. Just picked up the "hey, we fucked up so here's some low prices for a while" updates for Lumines Live and that should keep me going for a while. Arcade is great and everything, but mostly serves to keep me distracted when I've only got a few minutes to kill. I was under the impression that Monster Madness was an arcade game. It's a full boxed thing now? Well, if it's budget priced, I may give it a look. Sound fun, but is it really $50 fun?
  6. PS3 actually costing LESS than a Xbox 360

Well, dumping the HDDVD player, which I don't want or need and isn't something that people will get unless they really want it, the Xbox 360 is comes in at 55 less than the PS3. That's with everything else mentioned left on. Seems ok to me, although Europe is still really getting ripped off.
  7. Nah, it's like snubs said. It's like a real life democracy. The pages have to pass the nominations and primaries first. These are the ones that did.
  8. Xbox 360 titles under £16!

Part of it is that region locking on the Xbox is hit and miss. Not all games bother with it, and some lock out one region but allow the game to be played on all others. The Viva Pinata and Lost Planet US versions will play on any not-NTSC-J system. playasia has a handy chart here for future reference.
  9. Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

19 and really into WarioWare. Always have been. 'course, a game looking like it's for little kids has never stopped me before (Super Princess Peach, Viva Pinata, Chibi-Robo, etc are all great games, so fuck the whole "target demographic" thing) so take that with a grain of salt. Definitely worth your time and money if you've got people to play it with.
  10. T-minus 53 days and not counting

Right now the only game that could make me get a PS3 is MGS, although I do have some interest in Devil May Cry 4. I'm sure in a couple of years there'll be a bunch of games worth playing, but then it'll be 2008 or 2009 and the price will have dropped. No problem waiting this one out, especially when I'll be able to find one used for cheap. Hell, the PS2 had a ton of great games and I still didn't bother getting one until mid 2005. Playing catch-up on all the best games from an older console can be a lot of fun.
  11. 2 reasons to despair

There are no words. You are now one of my heroes. I can now say I'm a crutde pun on helditsbum.net While the 360 does spend it's down time in standby mode, I don't believe it connects to the internet until you turn it on. At least, the wireless reciever I have on the back of mine stays inactive until then. The Wii, yeah, always online. Can't say for the PS3. They're all "always on" in a sense, but not necessarily online.
  12. Movie/TV recommendations

Ok, Last King Of Scotland was fucking great. It's really unsettling just how charming and likeable Whitaker makes Amin, right up until the bodies start piling up. Like, noticably piling up. Even when there's only a few bodies and you know how it's going to end, you still kinda like the guy. Damn. Good. Check it out.
  13. Man, a 3-way tie. Kinky. What'll you do if it remains like this?
  14. Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

In other news, it has officially passed the casual gamer test. My younger sister is on a break from school this week and was over visiting yesterday. She didn't bother to go home, choosing instead to stay up playing WarioWare. I'd say that's a good sign.
  15. Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Grrr... stupid EB was sold out when I stopped by on my way home from class. Oh well, at least they finally let me put down a pre-order for GH2 on 360. Last week their computers didn't think the game existed.
  16. 113, mostly because I was the one who suggested it in the other thread and I want to maintain my integrity.
  17. Wii number exchange

@ kennyken67: yeah, you've been added. Seem friendly and whatnot, so I plugged you in. Dunno how long it'll take before you can see me for messages and such, but I can see you already so I figured it worked both ways.
  18. Wario Disguise Game

Well, I remember that happening in 3 most vividly, but it may have been a part of 2 as well. It's been a while. That hat system sounds just like the one on the virtual boy, and the concept of an overworld map (which was absent in the VB version) has me intrigued. I may have to check this out.
  19. Wario Disguise Game

I have Wario Land 2, 3, and 4 (and even on the Virtual Boy) but never played the first one. I heard it was essentially just more Mario and that the transformations and powers came later. True, or have I been really missing out all this time?
  20. Members: 1,500

Well, at least we have the month we signed up. Mine informs me that I just passed my two year thumbiversary, but I have no idea exactly what it was. EDIT: also, post 1,501. That's some kinda milestone too, right?
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

Pan's Labyrinth opened in Calgary on Friday and I just got a chance to see it. Just... damn. Really good. Maybe not quite as good as all the hype's been saying, but definitely worth a viewing. Tomorrow, I'm going to check out Last King of Scotland (finally!) as it opened on the same day but I haven't had a chance to go yet.
  22. Wii number exchange

I have nothing against adding you, but before I do please see this thread. Happy to welcome you aboard, but there's so much more to us. I'm starting to think you only want me for my wii...
  23. Members: 1,500

Yeah that's the thing. Even though those spam regulations seem to be working pretty well, I kinda miss the options. Options like "ignore," "delete," or "harass." Good times...
  24. Metroid Prime

Prime is fantastic. Haven't played DS for long, as I've only had chances at it on other people's systems and don't own it. Seems like they took Quake and threw it into the Metroid universe. If that's your thing, go for it. On the cube, it's a slow and deliberate game that wants you to drink in the atmosphere and really get into exploring. On the DS, it's about blowing shit up, but is still pretty fun. Make the call based on what you'd rather do, but know that playing one does not equal playing the other.
  25. Picross DS!

    Bastard. Now I'm addicted.
