oooh! Remowned. I like it.

Brilliant! That baby one had me laughing more than I'd like to admit. Bookmarked indeed. I'll be directing my friends there later.

A thread about what benchguys.net *could* have been
miffy495 replied to Wormsie's topic in Idle Banter
Well yeah, but people started having anal sex a long time before a lot of things. Just because anal sex predates something doesn't invalidate it. For example, Democracy. Or the Smurfs. Both were probably concieved after a lot of anal sex. -
Grats to all. Where you working now, Metallus? (For those wondering the same about me, I'm a projectionist. Money's not that great, but it's a fun job and the raise helps quite a bit.)

The hell? I assume that if it's available on Arcade somewhere, it's available everywhere. The best games really are on there. Aside from the ones Ben mentioned, Marble Blast and Geometry Wars are fucking great. There is more than Dead Rising for boxed games, but not a whole lot. Viva Pinata, Kameo, and Gears of War are all great games. Not amazing games, but definitely fun and more than worth playing.

Perfect. Y'know we were all thinking it, and you were the one with the bravery to say it. Congratulations.

In elementary school, I knew a girl who was double jointed to the point where she could make a fist on the wrong side of her hand. God that was weird to see. And yeah, I can curl my tongue.

In somewhat related news, tomorrow is the first paycheque I'll be getting where my new raise has taken effect! Hurray for money!

Well, I for one am interested to find out whether or not our assumptions are true and a Zelda rookie is completely put off by the whole thing. I feel a bit bad for BooJaka having to be the guinea pig, but someone had to do it. Best of luck to you, sir.

Usually my sense of humour just becomes more and more depraved, until I start talking about drowning puppies in ice cream or fucking ulcers. (True story.) Once though, around when my insomnia was at its worst and I'd been up for several days without any sleep, I started feeling bugs crawling all over me. Freaky stuff.

Wow. That's really fucking cool. Dude may not be able to actually play, but he's got a damn good ear.

A month later and I've tracked down a cheap DVD set of season 1. Damn this show is good. Thanks for the tip, n0wak. I know season 2 is on DVD, so the next questions are: 1. How many seasons are there? 2. How many can I find on DVD? 3. Has the show yet reached a point where there's a massive decline in quality, as always seems to happen when a show has a really promising first season?

Interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing where this research goes. And only a 3 hour drive from my home, no less. Go Alberta!

Congratulations, man. Hope you, Mrs. V, and your daughters get enough rest with the new human aboard. Hell, still awesome even if you don't. Well done.

Well, depending on how the game works, you may need to brush up on your kanji numbers (not hard. There are only 10 symbols that get combined around a bit) but I get what you mean. If you're open to plugging Japanese games into the GBA slot as well, I'd suggest Rhythm Tengoku. Think Warioware does rhythm action, because that's exactly what it is. So damn good. Also, there are some really good little games in the bitgenerations series. Personal favorites are Orbital, Digidrive, and Dotstream. (in that order) Most people seem to like Orbital and Dotstream, whereas Digidrive is more of a love it or hate it sort of thing. Happy importing! Oh, and I didn't mention Ouendan because you did. I assume you have it already. If not, fucking get it.

Dammit I want to get that game. I'm holding off on ordering until after reading week so it doesn't arrive while I'm in Ottawa, but it's tough to do. Stupid physical world requiring time to move things around...

As I believe I said in the TP thread when it came out, most people that I know think that it's the hardest Zelda. This is because they've only ever played OOT and don't have the conventions memorized. I blazed through it, and actually find each Zelda to be substantially easier than the one before it. No exit? Start hucking bombs. No objects of interest in a dead end room? Either trigger an enemy fight to make a chest appear or look for an out of the way hook target/weird arrow-in-the-eyeball switch/torch/whatever. If you haven't been going from Zelda to Zelda since you were 9 years old (or whatever. You know what I mean) then you wouldn't have a clue what to do. The only exception to this that I've seen is my sister. She went throught TP quite quickly despite having never played a Zelda before. Of course, all those Zeldas that I've played over the years, she'd been sitting beside me watching me play and suggesting things if I got stuck. It got so that back when I was playing WW, we had to synchronize schedules so she could see all the cutscenes. Long story short? Zelda's puzzles are, from an objective standpoint, really fucking dumb. Those of us who love Zelda seem to because we were watching them develop and they've become second nature to us. In some bizzare way, they make perfect sense. If you weren't there while these puzzles evolved though, Zelda would actually be a pretty easy game to hate.

Which page of the Doom book should be read in the podcast?

Perfect. I have never loved this forum more than after seeing those results. Time to ante up, Eggerton-Eggerton-Greene! -
Holy crap Yufster, I can see what you mean about people jumping up and going apeshit when you say you don't like Zelda. Personally, I love the games, but can easily understand why so many people don't. A lot of it for me is the atmosphere, and if that didn't draw me as much as it does I wouldn't rate the games nearly as highly as I do. (This is specific to the 3D Zeldas. The 2D ones are just flat out brilliant.) The jumping always pissed me off, to be honest, as well as how hidden so much of the game is. It's great to have a bunch of things to find, but when I need to start doing the optional things because otherwise I won't have a life bar big enough to survive the next dungeon, it gets a bit irritating. Again, love Zelda. TP was one of my favorite games from last year. Not my favorite, but top 5 sort of thing, y'know? Totally understand why some people don't though. This is why my recommendation to toblix was to look up Minish Cap next. They (gender-neutral. Happy?) seem to enjoy the 2D Zeldas, and that was a damn good one. If you don't like Ocarina, and (after adjusting for graphical considerations) the gameplay just doesn't appeal, then why torture yourself with more?

That song just reminds me of the whiny kids from when I was in junior high...

Holy crap, I made QOTM! (kinda.) Hurray! That would be an awesome thing to see. Problem is, as I recall,

Incredible Zelda Moments (spoilers, obviously)
miffy495 replied to Aussie Ben's topic in Video Gaming
Well, ok. Here's a couple for games you haven't included. Link to the Past Wind Waker -
Link's Awakening is also my favorite, but it was the first one I played, so that probably colours it a bit. Also the first game I ever beat. I took my Game Boy to a volleyball tournament when I was 9 years old and was killing time between matches when I finally beat the last boss. Good memories. I'll always have a soft spot for 2D Zelda as a result.
-
Also, when taken together, the Oracle games don't. Playing one gives you a code which you can put into the other, and when you play using that code, you beat Ganon after you beat that game's boss.

Man, poor 132. So left out and abandoned. Next thing we know it'll be dressing all in black and writing shit poetry.
