Really bad forum topic title? more like ok time to fucking stop it now
miffy495 replied to Spaff's topic in Video Gaming
And yet strangely endearing. I kinda like 'em, but they need to get more creative. Let's see some game critique in the titles, rather than just references to shit and piss. I find myself coming up with these types of titles while playing a game, but never really bother to post a thread based on them. As I said in a different thread, my favorite of my unused ones was "Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved? More like Gee, Where're My High Scores? Record Dissolved!" but there have been others. I'm on board with stopping the whole "Cock, Piss, Balls, Ass, etc" thing, but if they're done well they're awesome. We need to see a spike in quality, not the elimination of them altogether. -
Yeah, my fucking hard opinion was quickly withdrawn after I managed to get the hang of the barrel roll. Got all the story arcs only dying on the final boss a couple of times after mastering that spin. Hard until you realize "wait, rolling deflects all enemy shots?" Then really, really easy.

Hey, right! This thread exists! Done a few more thumb adds, so if I'm not already on your list, you may have a request waiting for you. I won't bother telling you my gamertag, as it should be more than obvious when it shows up.

Ocarina of Time? More like Cock Arena of Slime... spoilers
miffy495 replied to BooJaka's topic in Video Gaming
I am ashamed to admit that after having beaten it twice before, I'm now stuck on the fucking Water Temple again. Last time I beat OoT, I was 13, so it's been a while and I've forgotten what to do. Goddamn needy Zoras. Why can't they ever solve their own fucking problems? Zora-Link owned in MM, so they're obviously capable... -
Jetpac Refuelled? More like JetCRAP Vomit Pooled!
miffy495 replied to Aussie Ben's topic in Video Gaming
Sweet. I'm going to assume that you've played this, but link it anyway in case you or other people haven't. Brought a huge smile to my face when first I played it. I haven't given the original Jetpac a look since the days of DK64, so this is a nice little bit of news. -
I got mine for Dead Rising. Despite the lack of a huge amount of great games, there's enough good out there to make it worth it. (see: Viva Pinata, Hitman, Splinter Cell, Gears, Kameo, PGR3, etc) Of course, me being me, I'd only really call it a mistake if you didn't already have a PS2 with Guitar Hero on it. You've gotta have some way to play that game, and 360 looks like the best way to do it right now. Probably not a mistake anyway for now. If there's not enough that appeals to you to make it irresistable, then hold off until something you really want drops. With my PS2, I sat by while MGS2, Ico, Rez, and many other fantastic games came out, then Katamari dropped and I couldn't hold off anymore. Got all the other games that I'd missed after that, and cheaper because I waited. Basically what I'm saying is, wait for your Katamari. When you find it, we'll have a few matches on Xbox Live.

Hmmm... I didn't bother to mention it, but I got the same thing too. 2.4 Ghz AMD processor, 7800GTX video card, 3 GB of RAM and I get slowed up by Sam & Max? Only in the Casino though, hopefully as that setting isn't going to be reused, it won't be a problem in the future.

I believe that "adult" Link is 16, so I know what you mean. Glad you're enjoying it, you seem to be proving me wrong. As for atmosphere, wait until you've been down the well and through the Shadow Temple. With the exception of the kinda silly boss fight, that place is awesome. It's just too bad that you don't need to start buzzing back and forth in time to solve puzzles until right near the end of the game. The Spirit and Shadow temples are brilliant, but there's just not enough of 'em. -
Sam & Max: The Mole, The Mob, and The Meatball? More like Retraced Tracks: The Hole, The Gob, and The Short Haul! Sorry, that name is hard. I tried for a shot at the re-used puzzles, the length of the game, and a bummed in the gob reference all at once. Not entirely satisfied with it, but it'll do. Anyway, on to the game: Very, very enjoyable. The release of each new Sam & Max is quickly becoming the most looked-forward-to part of my month. This one continues the awesome, although I do have a couple of gripes. Primarily, That, aside from the fact that I beat it in less than 2.5 hours, (taking my time) is my only real complaint. Still, as the quality is this high, I don't really mind the length. It'd be nice if the next one were closer to 4 hours, but this'll do so long as the story and dialogue keep up where they are. Oh, and the ending? Fucking hilarious.

Well, I can't make a "more like" until after I've played the game, now can I? I'll come up with something later tonight, after I've finished it, then post it here if it makes you happy. We can't all be as brilliant as you...

Mine has yet to arrive, but from what you describe, I think that's a bit of a helper. If you click on "hai" (line, loopy line, two lines curving into each other) It'll do it's roulette thing and clear out one row and one column for you before you start as a handicap. Clicking on iie (two lines curving into each other, two more lines curving into each other, cursive "h" looking thing with a tick mark over it) you'll be given no handicap. Sorry 'bout my clumsy descriptions of the hiragana, but I have no idea how to type them into a forum. BigJKO, as for release outside of Japan, don't hold your breath. Just import it if you want. Region free is your friend.

I hope it's different enough. Honestly, I can see the 360 version fulfilling all my GH needs when it drops in March. And this is me saying it. A hopeless rythym game fan with a great love for the guitar. With very few exceptions, I have played one of the Guitar Hero games for at least an hour a day since November 2005. The only songs I can't get 5 stars on on Expert in the carreer mode are Miserlou and Psychobilly Freakout. (Note: carreer mode. Can't even fucking finish Jordan. Damn you Buckethead...) This is not something I am particularly proud of. When I think of the other things I could have been doing with my time, it's a bit sad honestly. Doesn't mean I'll stop playing though, as I am completely and probably dangerously addicted to that game. But March '08? GH 360 will have been out for a year by then, with downloadable song packs keeping it fresh. At CES, RedOctane stated their plans to have the tracklist from GH1 for download in the future. (it was an offhand mention, but I can't see them not finding a way to do it) Buying the game on 360 makes some sense because of the online that the PS2 version didn't have. The Wii, not so much. Why would I need another version of the same game? I get that it's going to be in the hands of more people, but think of the market for the PS2. Then add on the 10 million 360s out there. There will be more of each by the time this comes out. I worry that it'll sell like crap because so many people will already have one version or another. In fact, it may actually lose money as a result. I hope that the franchise doesn't over-extend itself here. So yeah, Guitar Hero on Wii is a cool idea, but they'd better make damn good use of the Wiimote if they want me to buy it again.

That's pretty much the same reason I never got into the Total War games. I like small squads going around kicking ass. I've always been a fan of Blizzard's "groups of 12 units" thing. It just worked for me.
-
For just external stuff, I went with Lj back in the day. That was mostly because that was the one that my friends used though, so I could post on theirs. I find it to be pretty user-friendly, although honestly I have nothing to compare it to.

Man, my two-headed-baby patch is on my backpack now. People don't get it often, but that's fine. Having people misunderstand it has no negative connotations. "My Milk Is Delicious" on the other hand, I may need to be wary of.

Question about the download stuff, as it intrigues me: How is it stored on the DS? I was under the impression that the DS's memory is wiped when you turn it off. Is it all on the cart and just unlocked, or what's the deal? This list is probably better for your purposes, toblix, as it has the Kanji. Pronunciation won't matter if you're just reading, and as eljay said they won't be written in Hiragana anyway. Hate to break it to you, but there are two pronunciations for 7 too. Shichi and Nana. Just learn to recognize the symbols (you'll probably only need 1 to 15 anyway) and you'll be good.
-
Britsh and Australian useage primarily you say? Hmmm... I guess I picked it up from my dad and never noticed that no one else around me ever uses the word. No wonder I get kinda weird looks when I say it...
-
So toblix, did you end up getting any other games aside from Picross? I was bored earlier tonight and ended up playing a bit of Rhythm Tengoku. Thought of this thread, and now I'm curious.
-
Well, video games often make it fun, so maybe that expectation isn't so unwarranted. Not saying it should be, mind. Realistically though, there it is.

A thread about what benchguys.net *could* have been

Well, I didn't rule out Katamari Damacy. Maybe we've stumbled upon something here. This bears further investigation. I'll be damned if I'm the one to do it though... -

Heh. Stupid looking up. I started a replay a couple of weeks back. Got halfway through the water temple, (dungeon 6) and then the current term of uni really went into full swing. I haven't had time to play much other than Guitar Hero since. Hoping that when things calm down a bit I'll have a chance to finish up. I stand by my earlier statement that WW is the best of the 3Ds, and Link's Awakening the best of the 2Ds. Love those games. As for the threat titles, this one is fucking great. I look forward to seeing what people come up with for different games. A while back I was pissed off with Geometry Wars because I got over 500000 points and it didn't save it or give me the damn achievements. Was going to make "Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved" into "Gee, Where're My High Scores? Record Dissolved," but then someone made a thread about being pissed of with Xbox Live in general and it never got posted. There goes my chance to really make a contribution. -
I greatly support this trend in name changing. Simply changing it to "All the Zelda games" and removing the "More like..." as you have in the past was starting to get old. Don't dissappoint me now. Keep up the name taunting.

I crack my knuckles the wrong way, I guess. Most people seem to like bending their fingers backwards as Thrik described. As for me, I make a very loose fist, then place my thumb on top of each finger, pressing down on them one by one and cracking them as I go. I've tried that "bend backwards" thing in the past and it never works for me.

It's a nice job. I'm there all the time, but it's always at night so I can still keep up with university. The staff at an art house theater are always awesome too. The only people who bother to apply a place like that are really sweet. Yeah, the view is nice, but you can't hear a damn thing in the booth. That projector is a loud sonnofabitch. As for horrible movies, luckily my theater is an art house, so we usually only get the good foreign and low-budget ones. That or the high-brow, almost-but-not-quite pretentious, "nevergonnagetseenatcineplex" sort of films. Right now I'm showing Pan's Labrynth () and Last King of Scotland () which are the biggest movies the theater has had in a long time so it's not bad at all. 'Course, around Halloween, we got Saw 3 just because it was offered to us. Had to watch that fucking movie three times a night for four weeks. God it was bad. Luckily the projectionist only sticks around for the first 10 minutes and comes back for the last 15. The time in between, I'm usually fucking around with trailers, other movies, or repairing something.
