Athlon 4400+ processor, GeForce 7800GTX, 4 Gigs RAM. I've never had any problem cranking Doom 3 or Source engine games to their max. FEAR chugged a bit though. What's the word? Am I good to run?

God yes. Greenpeace is everywhere in this city. Even ignoring the fact that I hate them (Patrick Moore, one of the founders, said it best when he left because it had been hijacked by politicos who don't actually give a fuck about the environment and just want to eliminate anything right-wing) I don't like being blocked on my way into the coffee shop I frequent when I walk to work. Now that the thread has been revived, I'd like to add Prince of Persia Classic to this list. Still on level 5 and still having my ass handed to me every time I enter combat. I've yet to ever throw a controller, but that game has gotten me closer than any other ever has. That, and any time I attempt Jordan on Expert in Guitar Hero II. Only song I can't beat, and God am I starting to hate it. I've now had two controllers die on me on attempts of that song...

Yeah, if the older one starts crying the younger one can't help themself. I still remember being a young child and watching my dad, upon being asked "Does Jesus live here?" say "I'll check." before turning and yelling "CHRIST! YOU STILL ON THE SHITTER?" A few weeks later and finally some news hits! "Sometime in July" I'm reading as about 3 weeks away. It's kind of a far cry from the monthly DLC they'd promised, but now there's a chance I could get my Cowboys From Hell on in co-op, and that's really all I need. I've also got my fingers crossed for Texas Flood or Crossroads, but I can't see those being as likely for whatever reason. Anyone got some wild speculation on what the next 9-ish songs could be? Also, finally got 5 stars on Freya, Rock This Town, YYZ, and (despite having had it on PS2 since February) Free Bird. So close to being through the whole playlist. Damn you Jim Heath (AKA Reverend Horton Heat) and your crazy speed!

On a related note, the post on Tim's blog that P-nauts had gone out of print, and how that's really not so bad now that it's digitally everywhere spooked me a bit. So much so that I finally ordered that signed Xbox copy I'd been meaning to buy since it got on the BC list. I have and have beaten a PC copy, but this is signed, and I probably wouldn't have had another chance to grab it. I believe the out of print thing only applies to the NTSC version though, so most of you shouldn't need to worry about it.

Well, speaking from experience, most of the added things in Black require that you actually beat the game first. Not something I've ever been able to pull off. That game is fucking hard. Like, I sat down and spent over an hour beating Alma. Each attempt lasted about 1.5 minutes. By the time I beat her, I was definitely a lot better at the game than when I started, but I was also about ready to put my controller through a garbage disposal. Now I'm stuck at a fight where it's myself against two big fucking tanks. I need to beat two tanks. With a fucking sword. Keep stuff like that in mind. I may get to see the bonus content one day, but it's been a year and a half and I don't think I've hit the halfway point of the game yet.

Agreed, although the demo is a little more simplistic than I'd like. I'm holding out for some reviews to tell me how interesting the puzzle elements get. If there's a bit more mental work and some suitably epic boss battles, I'm in. My only real gripe is that the controls for the camera seem kind of counter-intuitive. I get that the right stick is pulling double duty, but why is the camera the one that requires you to hold down a button at the same time? You'd think you'd be adjusting the camera more than you'd be directly controlling a minion swarm, making swarm the logical choice to add the button press to. I'm sure I'll adjust eventually, but it was kind of irritating in the demo.

Keep in mind I actually have no idea, but I think the fact that all the other online features for BC games work fine suggests that it should as well. On occasions like this, I'd typically browse the gamefaqs/gamespot message board, then burn everything I wore while I did it, scrub myself vigorously, and piece by piece deconstruct and incinerate the computer I used to do so. Goddamn gamefaqs. Still, it's thanks to that board that I figured out how to get my copy of JSRF working on 360, so every now and then they are useful. EDIT: Hmmm... Here we go. Now I have to go burn my computer. NG:B happened to be released at the same time I got my original Xbox, so despite never having a Live connection until I got the 360, I never had to worry about it.

Well, it's not so easy for kids to get their hands on M games anymore, at least from what I've seen. I can remember when Vice City came out and I went to pick up my preorder. I was 14 or 15, can't recall exactly. The guy at the counter even went so far as to raise an eyebrow and say "You're not 18, are you?" before shrugging and handing the game over. Thank God I wasn't an overly impressionable little bastard. 4 and a bit years later (hmmm... must've been 15) now and I'm waiting in line seeing 17.5 year olds in front of me in line being carded and denied copies of whatever the newest shooter-du-jour is. Odd considering you're supposed to be able to buy M rated if you're over 17, but it seems EB has adopted an 18+ policy. The irony is that I see this while waiting to get my copy of Super Princess Peach or Pokemon. Oh how tastes have changed. (although I still can't fucking wait for GTAIV)

And yeah, I can't recall much about Spore that didn't come from those presentations, but the way they were showing it off felt like a calculated move to give people no option but to go crazy with hype. A good job on their part, really, but in light of the delays could end up hurting them more.

Damn, it sounds pretty aggressive over there. We just have newsboxes everywhere full of the damn things. People grab them themselves, though I have no idea why. The only one that's actively peddled is the one that a bunch of homeless people write together at the shelter and publish at kinkos, Street Talk. I know it sounds like I'm making that up, but it's true. They'll then have people stand in front of office buildings exchanging papers for whatever people can spare. I'll buy one now and again, if only because I can at least admire the effort in that case.
