It'll be playing at my theater as soon as it makes its way to Calgary. I'm really pumped for it, but have been for a while. The amount of time its taking in getting here makes me wonder how many prints they've been able to afford to get made, but whatever. It's up there with Rocket Science on my must-see-as-soon-as-it-hits list.

hell yes. Looks like Flint Paper may make an appearance too.

At least they did it in a classy way. Gave me a little chuckle anyway.

Following the Zelda storyline, Tingle is a short fat 30 year old who lives with his father and desperately wants to be a fairy. As a result, he ties helium balloons to his waist so he can fly and draws a bunch of maps to sell to link. At least, that's what he is in Majora anyway. By Wind Waker, he was still around, making me wonder how the hell he could live so long. He also seemed to actually gain fairy powers, as someone with a GBA could control him and act like a helper by chucking bombs at enemies and such. Tingle: legitimate fairy or crazy fat guy? You decide.

It's the very start of the game. Plane crash up until Ryan appears on that screen and asks who sent you, then splicers start trying to fuck up the windows on the room your in to get at you and the demo ends. Convinced me to pick up the game, which I now am very happy I did.

Damn, given that I still have a decent amount of time left in my Bachelor's, I must give mad props to you, oh Master of Arts.

Are you playing on PC or 360? I just got to the same location myself and am having no problems, but as previously mentioned, I'm consoling it up for this one. Does anyone else feel really sorry for the big daddies? After I've saved all of the little sisters in an area, I just watch them lumber around looking lonely and sad. I've started using the Hypnotise Big Daddy plasmid when I really don't need to just so that they have someone to hang around and make them feel a bit better. Better for them to have a weird genetically-dominating friend than no friend at all, right? Also, throwing bees is so bloody satisfying it's ridiculous.

very minor (like, first 3 hours of gameplay) spoiler:

Yeah, ok. Some of the explosions do leave something to be desired. I quite like the ice trail though. Don't see what you're talking about there. Mapping wise, I find the "hold minus and aim up a bit" visor switch to work really well, and haven't had any problems with it. Actually, firing missiles with the d-pad seems an odder choice to me. Maybe RE4 trained me to reach for the minus button more often (inventory screen) and I'm alright with it as a result. Also as a result of my RE4 playing, the map on button 1 seems perfect, but that's just because it's the same in both games.

OK, so rather than put in some more time with Bioshock after work tonight, I decided I'd get my shoot on with the Wii and fire up Metroid. Holy crap. I forgot instantly that the Wii is less powerful than the other consoles. Well, up until I saw a guy who wasn't wearing a helmet. Semi-realistic faces still don't seem to be within the Wii's grasp. Otherwise though, fantastic. It was really just the one guy anyway. The controls are spot on, though they take a couple of minutes of getting used to. My accuracy is great and though the lock-on is needed for truly effective circle-strafing it's really easy to get the hang of. Voice work ranges from competent to good so far. Nothing fantastic, but certainly better than a lot of games. Already fought Ridley. That fucker shows up everywhere. How come we've never gotten a proper rematch with Kraid? Way cooler baddy, imho. Still, I'm only a little bit into the game, so maybe Corruption will provide me with that. What else is there to say? Feels different from the first two Primes. Good though. Not so much exploring so far, but I'm sure once I start to hit truly open areas that'll come. More focus on narrative though, which I like. The action is tight and responsive, though not really that challenging. As expected, honestly. It is a Nintendo game after all, they want as many people to finish it as possible. The new ally hunters are pretty damn cool and I'm looking forward to seeing more from them. The idea of squad combat with ice-controlling guy, crazy-cyborg dude, and shape-shifting chick is really sweet, and I hope they throw some of that in there. Ahem. That was a lot of text. Get the game, anyone on the fence. Honestly I gave up on Prime 2 because there was so much else worth playing back when it came out. There's a lot I want to play now, as well, but I think this one and Bioshock will be my top priorities until I see some credit screens.

Haven't run into any problems yet, but then I'm only just at the second bathysphere now so I'm not sure when they're supposed to crop up.

Yay for 360! ...unless I get red ringed. Please god don't let me get red ringed at least until after this game is finished.

Preparing myself for the Calgary International Film Festival (must be great to be a filmgoer n0wak, but the projection side of festivals is something that I dread year-round) and working two jobs. Also, the recent addition of a girl to the mix has left me a bit less time for gaming. She's out of town this weekend though, so I'll take that as my chance to get into Bioshock. Got my collector's edition all prepped up and have played about 2 hours in so far. Damn good.

Not too bothered by the fact that I can't get a copy right now. I'm sure it's brilliant and everything, but it'll be just as brilliant in a month when I finally have some time to play it. Definitely going with 360 though. Aside from the fact that my PC is steadily becoming quite crap, I don't really want to have to bugger around with all this securom and other such bollocks. Especially as I use AVG.

Man, that video looks fucking amazing. Sorry, but I'm a die-hard MGS fan and that impressed me. So I see a Raven, Octopus, Wolf, and Mantis, but does anyone know if they have the same names as the FOXHOUND crew? Are they the same animal with a different word tacked on? It would be pretty badass to fight Vulcan Raven, Decoy Octopus, Sniper Wolf, and Psycho Mantis again, but that wolf didn't exactly look sniper-ish and I'm curious to know the names for them now.

Dammit, you broke the code!

Sorry, mother's Hungarian. Try again. I'm all mysterious and shit.

Man, I missed the whole middle part there, what with mocking my lineage and whatnot. Here's something for you though: Though I'm Canadian, I'm first generation. My father was from Ipswitch, Australia. Figure that shit out now! Also, picross rocks but I've had the japanese version for forever. Worth rebuying for any newness?

I would actually like to be a teacher, and am studying to do so. I'm hoping to get a gig teaching third or fourth grade, riiiight before they become bastards.

Exactly. It's not that I have a problem with saying "That's a rather attractive young girl. She'll probably grow up to be damn hot." That's perfectly fine. I can say that in the same way that I can say "Wow, that guy is pretty nice looking." My problem with both the girl that I met a few weeks back and the girl in that video is that they're at that line. I can see that they'll probably be very attractive in a few years when they cross that intangible threshold Nachimir was talking about, but for now they just look like they have a lot of potential but haven't had enough time to reach it. ...and yeah, kid show hosts are as annoying as all hell. There's that part too.

I'm with you. Hell, a couple weeks ago I was introduced to a girl who I knew was legal, but looked about 14. Looked like if you gave her a few years to grow up she could be damn hot, but that night when she tried to hit on me I just felt relieved that I wasn't attracted to her. I don't know if I'dve been able to reconcile that with my "not a paed" mindset. Legality doesn't really make it less creepy when they look as underage as that.

I'm sad that I'm camping when it's released. On the plus side, I can start playing next weekend if my local EB still has copies when I return.

Just finished watching it about 15 minutes ago. As such, my response: Perhaps, and definitely not the best ever, but as a projectionist, I can see why my friend told me to see it. Honestly, the theater I'm running is about as close as you can get around here to the Paradiso. Tiny little independent art theater struggling to stay afloat surrounded by cineplexes. I can see way too much of myself in that movie, and when the Paradiso is demolished at the end, I teared up because I could very easily see coming back to Calgary after finishing my degree and watching the same thing happen to the Uptown. Hit really close to home for me in a lot of ways. While I can understand the sappy and sentimental angle you see it from, I could really relate and saw it as far more honest than overwrought. Maybe I just love my theater way too much, but there it is. Also, massive credit to this film for being the first movie to make me cry since I was 4 years old watching Bambi's mother get shot.

The intention sems to be to better allow multiplayer matches to be set up on Steam. Sorta like and Xbox Live friends list, but with Garry's Mod and Counter Strike. Also group chat and such. Seems like it could be pretty useful if a) I played multiplayer games more, or I played games on Steam more. As is, it's a decent little novelty that I'll probably use for the occasional match, but honestly will likely forget about in a few weeks.

Yeah, I'm on there as (surprise) miffy495, but also needed Wrestle's tips to participate in the damn thing. Just got it up and running now though, so I should be good for it.
