I still say that as giant monster movies go, The Host was the best I've seen in a very long time.

Man, this game is so much easier than GHII. I can remember getting 5 gold stars on three songs in GHII, and thought the achievement for 20 gold stars was bat-shit crazy. Last two days, I've got 5 new songs with perfect runs, brining my GHIII perfect run count to 7. At this rate, 20 won't pose nearly as much a challenge as I thought it would. I really hope Rock Band cranks up the difficulty a bit, but it doesn't look like it at the moment. At least the last download pack for GHIII is still brutally hard...

I still remember getting killed again and again in Hugo's House of Horrors when I was 4 and didn't realize that it was possible to actually get past the opening 15 minutes of a game. Is it sad that one of my earliest memories is of a pixelated werewolf eating a guy in pink pants?

My sister just likes to come by and watch me play sometimes. She's never bothered to actually touch a Mario game or a Zelda game (Yoshi's Island on the GBA is the exception) but she's sat and watched me play every single one and gets pissed when I play without telling her. Now that we don't live together, I had to call and let her know when I was going to play Twilight Princess, and now Galaxy. I'd say she made the effort to come over and watch half of Zelda and has now seen about 25 of my 61 stars in Galaxy. I don't understand it, but she enjoys it and never overwrites my games, so whatever.

K, played through it. Whole world looks weird now. Cool concept, I'd like to see someone make a real game with it. That "running between the legs of a giant walking dude" screen was especially neat, but really the only part of the game that impressed.

...because it's been out for a few days and there's still no thread for it here. I just had a chance to sit down and blaze through episode one of the new season, Ice Station Santa. Dare I say, better than before? First off, yay for 1920x1200 resolution support! I can finally play Sam & Max on my monitor in all its native-resolution-y glory! Second, I don't think I stopped laughing the whole way through this game. It's the little throwaway lines that perfectly set the tone of the series, as it was before, but this time they seem to have taken a slightly more dark turn which I find makes them even funnier. For example: There were only two puzzles I got stuck on. The first was simply because I didn't notice something in the environment. The second was a bit more of the "how did they expect us to know that?" variety, but as there was only one of those in the entire game, I'll cut them some slack on it. Overall, so bloody good. And this is coming from someone who hates Christmas specials of all kinds. Two months of waiting for episode 2 will be pretty tough to endure, but I guess I really have no choice.

I think the symbol on the flag is supposed to be a Koopa shell, thereby making him claim the land back. I think...
-
Be sure to let us know how it is. I'm interested, especially from seeing it in action in video reviews, but still need some convincing.

As I was playing SMB last night on Virtual Console, I can confirm that the flag goes down. Mario jumps, grabs the flag, pulls it down with him. Check about 24 seconds in on this video. Ta da!

What's wrong with Rocky Road? Maybe if they made you do a speed run or something, but I found it pretty fair.

I was actually wondering about cross-platform play myself. People here seem to be playing on 360, but if/when I get it it'll probably be through Steam. It's been done before, and I had hopes that it was the start of a new trend. Seems not, but a guy can dream, right?

I'm at 16 now, after another hour or so of play. Just did my first speed run, and finished the Space Junk level (which was bloody fantastic!) but haven't tried the other worlds in the second Galaxy yet. I'm unfortunately working all weekend, but I think I know where any free time I have is going.

So I just pumped a little less than 2 hours into the game, getting my first 6 stars. Wow. It's a bit of a mindfuck at first, having to wrap your head around circling planets and such, but damn is it good. Tanu, the race level you're talking about wouldn't be the Ray Surfing, would it? I found that to be really intuitive and fun. Oh well, to each their own. You have to admit at the very least though, WOW to the water effects. I had no idea the Wii could pull that off.

Just had a chance to download the battle songs. Holy hell are they hard. Took me 2 tries just to clear Morello's battle song, haven't even tried Slash, and I've failed Devil Went Down To Georgia about 6 times now. Having to play the craziness from both sides of the battle is something that caught me off guard, and turned out to be pretty damned tough. But, like any Guitar Hero challenge, God help me I will overcome it!

@ Gash: Sorry dude, but you have to admit, seemed like a plant-ish post for the first thing to say to a forum. Consider my xenophobia taken back.
-
Hey whatever. Complain all you want, but I've got my Devil Went Down To Georgia now!
-
Just got it from HMV on the way home from class today, but won't have a chance to turn on the Wii until tomorrow night. Really looking forward to playing.
-
Man, if it turns out that you're not actually a plant, I'm going to feel like a bastard for saying this. Sorry if your post was legit, but here goes anyway: From all the felating you've been doing for Activision and Infinity Ward?

Not very big. And you'll probably appreciate Max's comment to them along the lines of "Why won't you guys just DIE?"

Yeah, that Xbox 1 marketplace thing makes me giddy. Mostly for Fable and Crimson Skies. Fable because it's one of the few games on their list I don't already own, Crimson Skies because though I own it, it isn't on the BC list yet. This gives me hope that it will be on there soon.

Fair enough. My copy is unclaimed as of yet, and you do seem to be making an honest attempt at fitting in on the forums rather than simply spamming the giveaway thread. Keep it up and I may rethink my position on people joining just for the games.

Crap, I don't think I can top that one. Happy birthday, in my feeble photoshop-less way of well-wishing.

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
miffy495 replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
Since the Thermals made their first stop in Calgary, I've been listening to Fuckin' A as well as Ween's new album La Cucaracha as I've always had a bit of a soft spot for those guys despite some friends of mine having a "You listen to Ween???" reaction. Been giving some thought to purchasing Buck 65's new CD Situation too. I really liked Talkin' Honky Blues and Synesthesia back when they came out, and though rap never really appeals to me, the artsy kind of hip hop that he does I quite enjoy. Anyone (I'm assuming a fellow Canadian here, as he's not so well known outside our borders) pick it up and have a recommendation? -
Out of curiosity, your gamercard shows you playing the Orange Box on 360, so why are you requesting games you already own?

Holy crap, it's a thumb renaissance!
