I only ever played Cataclysm, so I'm interested in checking out the original. Am utter shit at strategy games though.

I'm really excited to play Echoes sometime in the near future. I only ever got a couple of hours into it on the GCN. Replaying Prime gave me the fever.

The day that Ryan died I went out to a birthday party for a friend of my girlfriend. I knew no one there, but was wearing my Lincoln Force shirt. A guy came up to me, raised his glass, and said "Ryan Davis." and we toasted. The two of us are now good friends.

The tower is the only one that's a pain. I just beat Prime on Sunday myself, no guide. I had an 83% collection rate, but 100% scan, so I'm ok with that. I actually found the collection no problem at all (except the tower) because I knew ahead of time that I'd need to do it so I went and got all the clues as soon as I could and then paid attention to room names going through. There were actually only 4 that I wasn't able to pick up while going around normally. Three of those were in Phendrana, so that was the only place that I really had to do a victory lap of. I didn't mind though, because going back to Phendrana once you have the plasma beam is IMMENSELY satisfying. As an aside, I really loved that you can only actually scan the clues for artifacts that you have the gear to collect. If you scan early on, you can see like 6 things. As you're geared up, the other 6 reveal themselves. I just had to remind myself to take a quick detour through the crater entrance room whenever I went through the overworld to see if there was anything new I could get.

"seeming as though" ugh. EDIT: For the record, this is replacing "seeing as though" in colloquial speech, not when something actually seems like something else.

Is "take a peak" a common thing to say rather than "take a peek"? I googled it because I wasn't sure and it seems like people actually use it, but to me it sounds like a vague threat to steal a mountain.

Just wanted to throw out there that I did read this and that sucks, though I'm glad to hear you're not suicidal. I started dealing with huge stress and anxiety things for the first time in my life just this last year as well (I seem to be approximately a year older than you), though I can point to a pretty clear cause for mine. Having it appear arbitrarily would be much worse, because at least I can say "welp, my job is killing me" and not have to ask "WHAT IS DOING THIS?" I'm not an experienced dude in dealing with this shit, but this forum is a good place to come in general for people who have your back. Good luck, dude! Come and vent whenever needed.

It's really making me want to play a campaign again for the first time since 2nd year university. Learning last week that my principal and librarian at school are both lapsed players has brought it back in my head in a big way.

Some heartless jackass makes a fake Majora's Mask HD trailer because he hates me, specifically

Which is a real bummer, because the later dungeons in TP are actually REALLY good. I replayed most of it in September (getting sidetracked by the fact that I got a job that took my time away from it), stopping at the Sky Temple, and some of those dungeons are awesome. Still don't dig the art style, but a few of my favourite dungeon moments are in that game. That whole Yeti mansion is amazing. -
Actually, from the menus up to doing the system transfer that's currently taking place, that's one of the coolest features of this thing. It actually seems to work really well and I'm stoked to go back and try some games that had dodgier 3D in the past (Donkey Kong Country Returns and the aforementioned Kid Icarus, for example). With Icarus also using the second analog stick, I'm completely ready to go back and try to finish that game. I came real close but never did.

Hah. I actually live in Alberta, so that never occurred to me. Do people actually just lie about that shit for the 5% tax?

Metroid Prime complete! 100% Log Book, 84% items. Not bad for playing without a guide. When I was 13 I beat it going for 100% using IGN's faq, so this time I swore to do it all myself. I didn't get 100%, but it was way more rewarding. 14 years has apparently made a big difference in me, but this game is still fucking unimpeachable.

Bill and Ted is awesome. I am 27 and have also never seen the Goonies. Or Back to the Future, if we're admitting things.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Has anyone tried Kotor on a tablet? I've thought about buying it a few times since getting my Galaxy Tab for Christmas... -
Well fuck, I've had this 64GB cart sitting and waiting for a New3DS to go into for weeks now...

I remembered loving Adaptation for that when I was younger. Full disclosure though, I was a teenager when I saw it and we all know that teenagers often like things that their adult selves would find stupid. I'm kind of afraid to watch that movie again for how much I liked it back then.

They were introduced in Corruption, and they went back and retro-fitted (heh) them into 1 and 2. I am also replaying Prime right now for the first time since I was a teenager, thanks to the Wii U release. These games are fucking great!

I'm kinda with you. Ghostbusters is totally fine, but I don't see it as anything more than "a pretty fun old movie". I'm against the remake because fuck it I'm tired of remakes and I don't think that Ghostbusters in particular is really worth the reverence it gets. I'm in favour of an all-female core cast (and that one in particular is awesome) but I wish they were doing something better with it.

I actually thought that The Town was really obnoxious and predictable, except that it introduced me to Jeremy Renner. That guy was awesome.

Agreed. You use the best mashed potato recipe. Fuck all others.

BIG GENERALIZATIONS HERE. THIS IS NOT UNIVERSAL, BUT A TREND I HAVE NOTICED IN TEACHING. Some parents have a legend of their child built up so much in their head that this is what happens. It is the gravest offense to these people to not have raised the incredibly special saviour of mankind. Like, your kid was overjoyed when the career aptitude test from health class said welder. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a welder, and as someone on the other side of things I'm actually pretty jealous of people who are that good at creating THINGS rather than hypotheticals. To these parents though, a life in the trades may as well be a life sentence, so it comes down to what am I doing wrong that they aren't equipped to be a neurosurgeon yet. This is a phenomenon localized to middle-class parents of middle-achieving kids. The kids who make trouble have parents who just want their kid to find SOMETHING productive they like to do. The kids who over-achieve (largely) have parents who are more concerned with keeping them grounded and not letting their abilities go to their heads. Beware the average middle class WASP though. Beware...

Going into the boss rush by accident is great. I went in with a really beefy Azazel and just wrecked shop. I had no idea what I was going in for, but it was awesome.

Yesterday, report cards went home. While it's my second year as a teacher and I've written report cards twice before, both of those cards were for classes that I was on a temporary contract with, and the contracts expired as the report cards went home. This time, the class is mine, which means I'm dealing with the parent fallout from report cards for the first time starting today. It's never the parents that you'd expect. The ones whose kids stir up shit all the time know about it already and just kind of sheepishly take the cards. What sucks is that I've had to basically write apologies to three super WASP-y parents for calling their kids average. Fun times this weekend as the emails roll in!

Is it that he's actually left handed? His camera must have mirrored it. Otherwise, seems spot on to me. I kept my ushi peanut butter secret, but since it is no secret more I guess I need to branch out.
